I chose this for the Mother Son dance at my son’s wedding this past weekend. Couldn’t have picked a better song for the two of us, and I worked to memorize it so I could sing it to him as we danced. Phenomenally touching. Boxes of tissues were told to stay at my side when I finally found the Series on Disney showcase., in 2024. Aww and all those short music interludes from musicians so loved n sung by my late husband tore me apart. All the songs tugged at my heartstrings but the Guitar man was heart rending as he was known as the guitar man.
This series was recomended to me in july 2022, after my dad died of cancer (2 years ago), and i was in therapy atvthe time and this series helped me, it was a good complement. Corn puddin’ from Schmigadoon! has won the Emmy instead of this amazing composition, a perfect tribute to the entire show that in the last season only had this nomination. It’s a shame. I do adore this song. I adored TIU. Something very wistfully wanting … the same emotional response I’ve often felt since childhood. A few such moments: hearing “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel for the first time … realizing my life was saved from being gunned down in a McDonalds drive-thru by an accidental phone call … perusal WTC North Tower collapse and knowing a dear friend was gone … perusal my wife’s face as I admit that i am transgender … learning another dear friend is consumed by COVID. These watershed experiences make all things prior seem like quaint antiques and all things after seem like junk in the attic. This is “forever” redefined by a precious ballad. Gorgeous lyrics by Mandy’s real-life husband Taylor are quite poignant and understated. Siddharta’s music is riveting. A song for the ages. The magic of capturing the “forever” to evoke the eternal spiritual resonance is what this song so perfectly does. Like the TV series it came from.
