In summary, for a spring wedding guest outfit, consider the following styles: tea-length, knee-length, or midi dresses, tuxedos, and semi-formal or dressy casual attire. For formal weddings, choose a dress or suit that complements the couple’s wedding colors or the style of the season. For winter weddings, wear a classic tux with a bow tie and cufflinks, or a long sleeve floor-length evening gown. For daytime weddings, stick with light, airy fabrics like cotton and linen, such as a breezy maxi dress or lightweight blouse and skirt combo.
For men, opt for slacks and a button down for a casual wedding, pair a light colored pant with a button down collared shirt, and bring a jacket or sweater for cooler days. A versatile dress that could be worn for multiple weddings with just a few accessory switches is recommended. Brown gowns are a brilliant alternative for those who prefer black pieces but fear they won’t be appropriate for the upcoming wedding.
For spring weddings, opt for lighter fabrics like lace, silk, and beautiful light chiffon or organza. Sundresses can be cute with flat sandals and a topknot, but can also be cute with heels, curls, and killer earrings. For spring weddings, stick with lighter tones (think dusty blue, sky blue, or periwinkle) and find the perfect ensemble that will make you look and feel your best as a guest at the event.

Does a woman have to wear a long dress to a formal wedding?
Traditionally women are expected to wear a floor length evening dress to a formal wedding. Often a sophisticated and dressy cocktail dress is also appropriate, however if the bride is traditional we recommend a floor length dress.
A full length dress means that the ankle is not visible. However, we have more leeway with this in modern times. It is not uncommon these days for the formal hem to fall one to three inches above the ankle. In addition, formal dresses can now have slits up the side or asymetrical hems where the front is shorter than the back. Summer or even a spring weddings may cancel the formality of full-length dresses and a shorter dress certainly becomes acceptable due to the heat.
If your formal wedding invitation states that the dress code is Black Tie Optional, this is also considered Formal. This does not mean you have to wear black. All colours are acceptable for black tie and formal events, but in this case we would advise to stay away from white or silver dresses (you dont want to steal the brides limelight).
Formal weddings are your perfect excuse to get fancy. So go all out! Sequins, sparkles, bows, and trains are all acceptable extras on a formal dress. Enormous puff sleeves are also coming back into style, especially if they are off-the-shoulder.

What do you wear to a semi-formal wedding in March?
Semi formal wedding attire sits at the sweet spot between cocktail attire and a black tie dress code. Its also commonly referred to as “dressy casual” — kind of like a weekend version of business casual. Think: flowy dresses, simple suit jackets, and timeless silhouettes.
For colors, prints, and hemlines, semi formal wedding attire doesnt have strict rules like other dress codes, making it tricky to know whats appropriate. We suggest factoring in the season and wedding venue to gauge what type of outfit is best. After all, a yellow mini dress may be perfect attire for a summer backyard wedding, but feels too flashy for a winter soiree in an elegant ballroom. Its hard to go wrong when you dress specifically for the event!
To complete the semi formal dress code, we recommend a natural, polished beauty look. That means you can skip the time-consuming updo and let your hair down (literally) with loose waves. And while we love a smoky eye, give your sparkly evening palette a rest and try a neutral color instead.

In contrast, semi-formal events feature guests in a wider range of suits and dresses, with more colors and textures on display.

Instead, men will wear simple cufflinks and black bow ties, while women may opt for subtle necklaces and earrings. Again, at a semi-formal gathering, expect more variety: cufflinks, neckties, belts, suspenders, and various items of jewelry.
