Did Bob Dylan write lyrics?
Bob Dylan is one of America’s greatest musicians. He’s a poet and composer. I started writing songs. That’s the most important thing. I started writing because things were changing and a song needed to be written. I started writing them because I wanted to sing them. Anyway, I kept writing my own songs. I stumbled into it. I didn’t expect it, but I sang a lot before I wrote my own songs. That’s important too.

Who wrote the song you won’t see me?
You Won’t See Me is a Beatles song from Rubber Soul. Paul McCartney wrote it and it’s credited to Lennon–McCartney. Like other songs from this period, the lyrics are about McCartney’s troubled relationship with Jane Asher and her desire to be an actress. The Beatles recorded the song during the last recording session for Rubber Soul, to make sure the album came out before Christmas. Canadian pop singer Anne Murray covered the song in 1974. Her version was a hit in both the US and Canada. The track also appeared on her album Love Song. “You Won’t See Me” is about a crisis in McCartney’s relationship with his girlfriend, Jane Asher. Asher, who was about to turn 20, refused to stay home and put McCartney’s interests first. In late 1965, while the Beatles were recording Rubber Soul in London, she accepted an offer to appear in a stage production at the Bristol Old Vic theater. They briefly ended their relationship after an argument. When he tried to call her in Bristol, she didn’t answer. McCartney said it was hard to be without her.
When did the Beatles break up?
The last time the four members recorded together was on August 20, 1969. They mixed and edited I Want You (She’s So Heavy) that day. Their last meeting was two days later at a photo session at Lennon’s Tittenhurst estate. On September 20, Lennon told his bandmates at a meeting at Apple that he was leaving the Beatles. It was unclear to the other members whether he was leaving permanently. On April 10, 1970, McCartney said he was leaving the group in a press release. This caused a lot of media attention and made things worse between him and his bandmates. The Beatles didn’t officially end until December 1974. The members reunited for collaborations throughout the 1970s, but never all four at once. Starr’s “The Greatest” and Harrison’s “All Those Years Ago” are the only Beatles songs with three former members. After Lennon’s death in 1980, the surviving members reunited for the Anthology project in 1994. They used unfinished Lennon demos as the basis for new songs released as the Beatles. The latter remained unreleased until 2023. Background edit. By late 1965, the Beatles were tired of live performances. George Harrison was the first to tire of Beatlemania, while Paul McCartney wanted to keep touring. McCartney stopped touring at the end of August 1966. Afterwards, Harrison left the band.

This was the first Beatles album I listened to. We were living in San Diego, and my dad had just returned from a West Pac (Pacific) cruise in the Navy. He brought home stacks of albums he bought very cheaply in my native Japan. This was the first one he played on the stereo. I’m 60 now, and I’ll never forget that.
Last week an 18 year old kid asked me if the Beatles where really all that great. I asked him how much Beatles music he has listened too. “As much as anybody my age I guess.” he said. I asked him to do me a favor and listen to 5 songs on Youtube. The next week when I saw him he said ” I’m sorry. I had no idea. I can’t stop listening to there music now.” He is an intelligent young man who needed a little more perspective, and Beatles music!
It’s that driving bass-line, no, it’s the excellent drumming wait, it’s Paul’s soulful voice, oh, no, it’s those genius lyrics, shit, it’s those great harmonies, wait, it’s the syncopated guitar chords, AHHHH! This song simply has everything you would want in a song. One of my favorite songs of all time. Sometimes when I’m sitting perusal TV I’ll pick up my Hofner knock-off bass and play that baseline over and over. There’s just something so therapeutic about it.

Back in the mid – 60’s. I was a teenager, in my 2nd band. We were openig for ‘The Kingsmen” (Louie Louie). Rubber Soul had just come out, The Kingsmen were working out, ‘You Won’t See Me’, I was blown away by their sound, and they already had the vocals down smooth.. This song struck me, because I think it was the first time, the Beatles had done back up harmony lines like this. That time spent in Germany they did tons of covers. It seems like they remembered every hook of every cover they did, and employed them in their own songs, as they quickly grew in their ability to constantly come up with great songs. I also got to see them perform live in Boston in 66.. One of the greatest thrills of my life.
Although Paul is lead singer on “You Won’t See Me” listen for John’s background harmony vocals. He’s taking the top voice over George. You can really tell it’s John. At this stage in the band’s career (roughly late 1965 – early 1966) we can hear the beginning of them branch out into other music genres like George’s sitar. That and the introduction of more studio engineering. Prior to this era the Beatles could reproduce in concert everything they recorded on their records. However by the time of “Revolver” & “Sgt Pepper they’d stopped playing concerts. In part because of security issues. Like the whole world loved them so much that many kids had gone mad. And the other reason they stopped with converts was that their new music required dozens of musicians on stage.
I kind of worked backwards with The Beatles, and this was one of the last albums I sought out. I thought other than one or two of the singles, I didn’t know it at all. When I finally bought it and sat down to listen to it, I found myself humming the melodies almost the instant they emerged from the speakers, and, this song in particular, felt embedded in my subconscious. It turned out, when I was a toddler, the times my mom would have to bring me with her to work after school because there was noone to look after me, she would put this record on because it always made me ecstatically happy, and I could sit in the back of the restaurant, just hanging out with the cook and blasting it. So, it turned out I “knew” it after all
I just noticed how good this song was while I was stuck in traffic! There’s a lot of different sections or verses and there all good! Usually the bridge in songs kinda just has u waiting for the good part, but this one cruises along and all the words are great,my new favorite Beatles song!sorry dear prudence !

I’ve heard it referred to as a seminal period; most artists experience one. Michael Jackson in the ’80s, Elvis in the ’50s and ’60s; but for me, it was a steady diet of The Beatles, from ’64 til ’71. Every cut on every album was good to me. Even that idiotic”You Know My Name (Look Up My Number). But of all my Brit groups, The Beatles are the best!😎
An astonishing Beatle song! Another show of bass playing, by Sir James Paul McCartney – the Master of Melody!!! But, just another song filling the (amazing) album! For many other bands… a hit single! Perhaps their greatest one! But not for the greatest band of all time, The Beatles!!! A different league…
They were unique because what they did was so damn hard–that is why many bands after the british invasion looked at the Stones to imitate, they were easier to copy, the Beatles was just too damn hard–the vocals, harmonies, melodies, etc….The beatles were a tiny saloon band that toiled for 7 yrs to get it right before the big bang! They Changed the course of musical and cultural history.
This is so good it makes me wonder how it was even possible. Everyone is so damn good, the quality is so damn high, the Beatles are unsurpassed to this day and I suspect will be for quite some time. And Ringo is the Golden Paradigm of drummers, unsurpassed for playing music on the drums. I swear that guy could play chords on the drums.
The whole album was recorded in a couple of weeks, many of the songs were written at Abbey Road in a mammoth overnight recording session to get the album released for Christmas 1965 plus Day Tripper/ We Can Work It Out, 16 new tracks in a couple of weeks !!, more than most artists could manage in 2 years today..

When I was a uni student in around 1997, I had a girlfriend whose boyfriend was my old friend. Both she and I knew we were doing something wrong, but our reason couldn’t stop the immoral relationship as we were in love with each other. \r \r As time went by, my old friend started noticing our relationship. Of course, he extraordinarily got mad, took me to the beach. I got uncountable numbers of punches from him, the affair ended up in losing my old friend as a result. \r \r I tried to convince her and myself to quit the relationship, but she never listened. I tried to stay away from her, but she never liked the distance. However, she never wanted to lose her true boyfriend, either. \r \r I had made up my mind not to see her anymore to fully quit the relationship. \r \r I wrote her a letter saying “Tune in to Inter-FM (Japan’s FM station), and you’ll know my message”. \r \r I requested for the Beatles’ song “You won’t see me”. \r \r When I call you up, your line’s engaged — Yes, her line could be busy with him. \r I have had enough so act your age — Right, we should be acting as how old we are. \r I won’t want to stay. I don’t have much to say — Indeed… unless you want to lose him. Time after time, you refuse to even listen. I wouldn’t mind if I knew what I was missing — She never listened to me convincing for a broke. \r \r I knew the actual meaning of the full lyrics was different from the love affair we were having, but partially crossover so I wanted to message her by playing “You won’t see me” on the air.
Can you imagine if we hadn’t lost John and George-and they decided to do a final world tour-it would have been almost impossible to decide which songs to do-the most I have ever paid to see a concert is $500.00. but I would have paid a king’s ransom to see the Beatles-P.S if one female would have started screaming their names I would have duct taped her mouth shut-it ruined the concert in Seattle in 1964
