How to know when God wants you to leave a relationship?

11 Signs God Is Telling You to Break Up with Your Boyfriend1 You have a gut feeling.2 He pushes you to disobey God.3 He disregards your boundaries.4 You dont feel in control around him.5 Hes become more important to you than God.6 He doesnt share your commitment to God.7 You dont enjoy your time together.

If you’re wondering “Is God telling me to break up with my boyfriend?” you’re probably feeling unsure about your current relationship. While the decision to break up with your boyfriend is one that only you can make, weve consulted the Bible and dating experts so we can offer you solid advice. We’ll walk you through signs that a breakup may be something to consider, so that you can find the path that God has in store for you.

When we’ve accepted God into our hearts, He can offer us insight into the path that He has chosen for us. If you’re experiencing a gut feeling that your relationship isn’t right for you, it’s a good idea to try and discern if this is a warning from God.1.

  • Scripture tells us that intuition stems from God. As the Book of Job asks: “Who gives intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind?” (Job 38:36)
  • While intuition is a great gift, it isn’t infallible. Christians are also called to use their reasoning skills to decide on the right path for them.
  • Before breaking up with your boyfriend, have a conversation with him. It can be hard to express doubt in a relationship to your partner, but a conversation may resolve your gut feelings.

Does God want marriages to end?

In the New Testament, Jesus initially offers a more nuanced view to this question. In Matthew, the Pharisees ask Jesus, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?” (Matthew 19:3). This verse is preceded by the phrase, the “Pharisees came and tried to trap Jesus him” by trying to get Jesus to provide a black-and-white answer to determine where He stands on the law regarding divorce that was provided by Moses in Deuteronomy. But Jesus knows their hearts and their intentions and recognizes their hardened hearts. Instead of answering their question, Jesus quotes Genesis and concludes: “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” As the Pharisees continued in their questions, Jesus takes this opportunity to expand on the law of Moses to explain that divorce is not what God intended. Jesus states, “Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended.…whoever divorces…and marries someone else commits adultery.” Gods standard, as stated by Jesus, goes beyond the law and states that Gods intent is for no one to divorce.

What we see here is similar to what we see when Peter asked Jesus about forgiveness in Matthew 18. Peter asked, “How many times should I forgive…seven?” But like the Pharisees, Peter wasnt asking because he wanted the answer. He wanted to elevate himself and Jesus saw right through it. Jesus responded stating that Gods standard would be to forgive seventy-seven times.

What we see here is a true example of what Jesus expects of us. He doesnt want a begrudging heart. He doesnt want us to check the box. He wants us to do everything we can to pursue HIM. Pursue him with a pure heart. Not live life doing the minimum. But having a heart that is an offering to Him.

How do you know when your marriage is beyond repair?

What does real trouble look like?Theres no emotional connection. … Communication breakdown. … Aggressive or confrontational communication. … Theres no appeal to physical intimacy. … You dont trust them. … Fantasising about others. … Youre not supporting each other and have different goals. … You cant imagine a future together.

All relationships have their ups and downs, and being in a couple takes work from time to time. But what happens when the relationship is more work than play? We look at the potential signs your relationship is over or beyond repair.

We’ve all experienced degrees of difficulty with someone we love. Occasional arguments are perfectly healthy, as is having different interests, and independent lives.

There are certain myths about relationships and how they work that are rather glibly tossed around. For example, couples shouldn’t fight; that opposites attract; that it is critical to have common interests; that distance makes the heart grow fonder. Some couples believe that getting help for your relationship must mean you’re in deep trouble, as sex and love should ‘happen naturally’ and you shouldn’t have to work at it.

How to know when God is saying no to a relationship?

If you feel a sense of unease or discomfort about a relationship, it could be a sign that God is not leading you in that direction. Whenever God approves of someone, one of His primary ways of confirming it to you is through a sense of internal peace.

When should I stop trying to fix my marriage?

5. No intimacy. Stop trying to fix a relationship that has no intimacy. Its that simple. This doesnt just refer to sexual intimacy but also emotional.

As expected, the initial passion of any relationship tends to wear off. If a deep emotional connection doesnt replace this, thats when to stop trying in a relationship. After all, if you cant share your deepest thoughts and feelings with your partner, who else can you share them with?

6. Emotional disconnect. One of the key signs that its time to break up is if youre finding that you cant connect to your own emotions or feel strongly about your partners actions. Emotional detachment can happen due to abuse, but it can also happen when youre being ignored day in and day out.

When he stops trying or when she stops trying, youll find that deep down, you are starting to give up too. Thats often the beginning of a break in your commitment and loyalty to the relationship.

When to stop standing for your marriage in Christianity?

When to hold on and when to let go. 1) Hold on to your covenant. Let go of the marriage you used to have.. Your commitment to your marriage covenant is in your hands. Its your choice to keep or to give up on. You have every right to hold on to this commitment even if your spouse has chosen not to. You dont need anyone else but God to agree with your decision to hold on to your covenant. And its up to you to hold on to it as long as it takes or as far as you can.

Holding on to your covenant is not the same as holding on to your marriage. You need to let go of the marriage you used to have. You may have to grieve the loss of what you used to have. But you must say goodbye to that marriage. Your old way of doing marriage didnt work, so why would you want to go back to it. Its time to let it go and make room for a new marriage to be built.

2) Hold on to God. Let go of your spouse.. Your relationship with your heavenly Father is your most valuable relationship. No person or thing can take the place of God in your life. There is never a day in your life when you dont need Him. So you must hold on to Him and trust Him to get you through this. He is the one who will never leave you or forsake you. The Lord is always faithful. He is for you and He always wants the best for you.

When to stop praying for marriage restoration?

First, it is important to consider whether or not there is still love between the husband and wife. If there is no love left, then it may be time to move on. However, if there is still love between the two, then it may be worth continuing to pray for restoration.

Second, it is important to consider whether or not both parties are willing to work on the marriage. If one spouse is unwilling to work on the marriage, it may not be worth continuing to pray for restoration. However, if both spouses are willing to work on the marriage, it may be worth continuing to pray for restoration.

Third, it is important to consider the children involved in the marriage. If there are young children involved, then it may be worth continuing to pray for restoration so that they can have a happy and healthy family life.

However, if the children are older and are not as affected by the divorce, then it may not be worth continuing to pray for restoration.

  • This is scary 😳 I’ve been single all my life, never been married. I’m now thinking twice about doing so. I believe that’s why God’s been protecting me from the wrong men. I’ve cried out to God about some guys I’ve considered dating and marrying, but each time God said NO ! I thought I was cursed . But it was God’s divine protection. God knows I’m a good woman and he will bless me with my Boaz and my happily ever after. I must stay patient and keep my eyes on the Lord. Amen 🙏

  • Cheating is a choice. Not a weakness but rather a lack of self control, lack of value for the sacredness of marriage and having no discipline…you cant pray that away or into a grown man, it requires work and intentionality. Demons work with something brewing in us..ungodly urges, open doors etc…our part is to make sure we put measures into place to avoid such things & work on ourselves. Staying with a spouse who repeatedly cheats on you is accepting that form of abuse…being a follower of Christ doesn’t stop us from using our brains or being intellectual. If he cheats, he has broken the covenant, its on him- you staying wont stop him from continuing but leaving will save you from being infected by them with some incurable disease.

  • I listened to a documenry of some women who were hiv because of their husband cheating behaviour,Prayer is our obligation as children of God, but praying for an abusive, cheating and violence man with your children in the house is the worst thing ever you can do,you can always Prayer fom safe place and God will still help, keep your self an children safe from abusive relationships

  • NEVER TELL YOUR ABUSIVE HUSBAND/EMENIES YOUR PLANS TO LEAVE!! JUST LEAVE. The Bible does NOT permit this kind of treatment towards wives!! The husband was emotionally, physically and financially abusive. For a pastor to tell a wife to accept that is a sin and spiritual malpractice. The husband clearly did not repent. Lord save and protect wives in these situations.

  • This is really sad, churches are not really helping matters. This involves somebody’s life, I’m not supporting divorce but atleast advicing the victim to be given some space rather than forgiving and enduring till the abusive man kill his wife. Things should be done in a way that pleases God, and the pastors won’t go to the man and counsel or talk sense to him. The rate of this abusive and cheating is increasing and it’s really disheartening 😢

  • the last straw was the mistress to show up to ur workplace not the cheating and then the beating??always when you see boys/men you push God on the side. when it turns sour, you know all the scriptures and know the name of God. She has not prayed before and after. otherwise, God would have told her he was not a good man. the Bible says pray without cease including those who wrongs us. Hilda’s friend is really nice. I would have told her to stop tell me her problem if she doesn’t want to listen to solution. it feels that you love the situation. don’t tell you are sticking aroung for the children thats a lie and you r being a bad parent. staying in a dv so your childrren will be exposed to that atmosphere!! a boy will treat women like that because the mother stayedand the daughter will look for violent husband thinking thats how men act.

  • This story speaks volumes because marriage like this don’t last their know love in the first places. This is how we get our self in trouble the first time can get us in hot water. Because they marry us out of obligation love is never involved and it sad. And sometimes the mother in law don’t like you they think you trapping their son. James don’t love her noway or respect her at all period. Cheater is always a cheater. And they don’t care who they sleep with. Hilda needs to look after her well being and her child mental health and some of these pastor are something else period. Yes YESHUA FORGIVE But HE DON’T WANT YOU TO BECOME A PUNCHING BAG. GOD WANT US TO THINK FOR OURSELVES. DO PASTOR BE BLIND TO WHAT SHE GOING THROUGH THE CHEATING THE LYING SHE HONOR IN HER VOWS BUT WHEN WE HAVE A MATE DON’T CARE IT’S TIME TO TELL HIM HIT THE ROAD PERIOD AND THAN THINK YOU SUPPOSE TO BY THE LIE AND HOW WE KNOW THE ELDERS AREN’T CHEATING AND THE PASTOR IT BIG MESS IN THE STATES WITH THE PASTOR OVER HERE CHEATING. DON’T KNOW ONE HAVE TRUST IN A CHEATER BECAUSE THEY DO ANYTHING LIE STEAL. HIDA SHOULD HAVE LEFT AFTER THE BEATING AND HE DON’T WANT TO BE A DADDY KNOW WAY. AND JAMES JUST STAYING FOR MONEY 💰 IT THAT WHY HE QUIT HIS OTHER JOB TO BE A BUM AND LIVE OFF HIS WIFE. SHE CAN REMARRY IF SHE WANT TO BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T BREAK HER MARRIAGE VOWS PERIOD READ THE WORD FOR YOURSELF AND ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR DISCERNMENT. AND DON’T WALK RUN FOR YOUR SANITY SAKE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A LIFE LESSON FOR EVERYONE PERIOD.

  • Hilda should leave James. The truth is their marriage wasn’t built on a solid foundation. They only got married because she became pregnant with Mariah. An unexpected pregnancy is not a good reason to get married. Plus, James keeps on lying and cheating on her. He even beat her once she confronted him about embezzling funds out of their company to repair his mother’s home. James is awful; Hilda and Mariah deserve better. In the end, I am so glad that she fled with her daughter while James rots in prison. God is good!

  • As for me I’m staying with a man he just talled me that he doesn’t have feelings for me because I’m not working before he does talled me that he bring his girlfriend in the house while I was also in the house I didn’t fight I just do fasting and pray because I didn’t have no place to go and I didn’t know anyone around the place I’m not that kind of person who do friends

  • Let me preface this by stating that some of ya’ll are about to be mad at me, and I don’t care. First, it really does no woman any good to sleep with a man, especially unmarried, and sometimes within marriage. Intimacy is only necessary if a child(ren) are the end goal. Outside of offspring, intimacy is overrated, especially for women. Requiring and insisting that a woman stay in any type of abusive situation is sadistic. Yes, I am stating that the god that many serve is a sadist. And since I know that God is not a sadistic sadist, I am not talking about actual God. I am talking about men. Men wrote the bible that so many like to beat people up with. No logical person is going to stay with someone abusive in every way possible. Talking about if divorce should happen, she can never remarry. Honestly though, this woman would probably never want to be married again based on the scum that she was married to. He set the bar in hell. If she did, however, meet someone who loves and treats her well, according to many, she is supposed to forgo that opportunity because it would upset men. God would not be upset because the Almighty is kind, and loving, and wants to see his daughters prosper. Men are the ones who hate to see women move on and prosper after being abused by them. God glorifies happiness. I am not here to go back and forth/debate. I said what I said.

  • Oop this is better than the Soaps! But yeah I prayed and prayed from my nasty cheating ex-husband and God told me to leave because he was cheating with everybody from my mom and other family members, to his coworkers!! A couple of pastors tried to take his side and I told them about themselves too. All men are cheaters. God was trying hard to warn me not to marry in the first place but I was extremely young and almost had no say in it. But I’m glad its over.

  • Why do none of these young women in these stories NEVER use birth control or the men use protection? You shoukd make a Part 2 so that others can see God’s reciprocity in that no good husband and that non-discerning pastor who can’t pray his way out of a paper bag let alone protect on of his church daughters. Messy!!!

  • Well, the entrance into the marriage was completely WRONG 😢, When the foundation is destroyed what can the righteous do, n if someone finds themselves already in this mess, don’t battle in prayers alone, gather PEOPLE AND PRAY, there are situations where the word of God said; two is better than One,….it pays to wait to marry the right guy, the man here is an unruly dog…….

  • exactly how i am living right now with a heartless mother inlaw, with all kind of mistresses old, teenagers, maids, prostitutes,… 😢even spiritual mistresses .all with the support of his mother and also denying me divorce . now his mother is telling him not to pay 💰 my kids school 🏫 fees i am ready to leave with my kids and since i lived a orphan life since the age of 4 i have no one to run too . my trust is in you God . i am the only joy for my kids please pray 🤲🏻 with me and for me so that i can leave this marriage and get back my peace in jesus’s name.
