Where Can I Donate My Wedding Dress Near Me?

Donating your wedding dress is a great way to honor it and give it new life. There are several charities that accept wedding dresses, including the Deutsche Kleiderstiftung, Brides for a Cause, Angel Gowns, Brides for Haiti, Salvation Army, and Goodwill Industries. These organizations help raise money for cancer programs and provide free wedding dresses to military and first responder brides.

The German Clothing Foundation has been helping people live in warmth and dignity for almost 70 years. Brides for a Cause receives wedding dress donations from brides and bridal stores, accepting dresses that are five years or newer. They collect textiles, well-preserved clothes, and shoes, pack them in large cartons, and send parcels.

NICU Helping Hands receives wedding gown donations from brides worldwide, which are then distributed to their team of over 180 seamstresses throughout the United States. The Brides Project, a bridal boutique with a heart, accepts pre-loved and brand-new wedding dresses from all across the country.

Brides for Haiti takes donations of wedding dresses and resells them to raise money for St. Mary’s parish in the Archdiocese of Washington. They hand craft Angel Gown garments, which are donated to hospitals, funeral homes, and families through special orders.

Goodwill Industries accepts wedding dress donations from designers, manufacturers, and brides all over the country, selling previously worn dresses, accessories, and formalwear through generous donation. All donations go to local cancer charities.

In summary, donating your wedding dress can make a difference in someone’s life by supporting various charities and donating your unwanted wedding dress to a worthy cause.

What is a mermaid gown?

The mermaid style is characterized by a fitted silhouette that hugs the body from the chest down to the knees or mid-thighs, where the skirt flares out into a dramatic mermaid “tail”.

Mermaid dresses are usually made in stiffer fabrics like lace and satin, and sometimes even crepe. Because of the flair required in the skirt, layers of crinoline are sewn in underneath to keep the shape. Not all fabrics, such as charmeusse and chiffon, can hold the mermaid shape as well. For these, you might consider adding a crinoline slip or petticoat to wear for shape and volume.

This style is especially flattering for brides with hourglass figures, as they accentuate the curves in all the right places. They can also help create the illusion of curves for brides with straighter body types. However, this style is not nearly as comfortable or easy to move around in as other wedding dress styles, due to its form-fitting nature.

Mermaid dresses come in a variety of styles, from simple and classic to embellished and extravagant. Some feature plunging necklines or open backs, while others are adorned with intricate beading or lace appliques. Brides can also choose from different sleeve lengths including strapless, cap, and long, to create a look that matches their personal preference and/or body type.

Our garments are a gift of love from a bride and a seamstress to honor a precious baby and their family. Who buys the wedding dress?

More Brides Attire. While this responsibility can vary from culture to culture, historically the brides family will pay for her wedding dress and accessories. This includes everything from the dress itself to the veil and shoes. Although this is how the cost has typically been handled, many modern brides are opting to pay for their gown themselves rather than relying on family.

Grooms Attire. Similarly, to the brides gown, the grooms family typically pays for his attire. However, it is not uncommon at all for the groom to foot the bill for his own wedding day suit or tuxedo. This is typically a much smaller cost than the wedding gown, especially if the groom is renting his look!

Groomsmen Suits/Tuxes. Historically the groomsmen have been responsible for paying for their own suits and tuxes. These items can be quite pricy, so giving your groomsmen the choice to rent their attire provides a much more affordable option. If your groomsmen all rent their look from the same company, youll also guarantee that theyll be perfectly coordinated! Check out our Groom Fashion blog for more information on the different options for groomsmen attire.

  • It’s the sheer arrogance or willful ignorance of those ppl to think they can pay Pennies on the dollar for those beautiful original creations made by the designers. The fabrics and textiles used are a key indicator that you would not be paying $50 for it. They deserved to get scammed. Respect the fashions!!! Paying SHEIN prices expecting Valentino … 🙄🙄🙄

  • “If it’s too good to be true, then it is!” I been sayin it and sayin it, and cannot believe how many people are throwing their money at these scammers. Ffs. This bs is why people balk at fairly priced items made by small businesses. It’s why us handmade MFers have to justify our already low prices to people who think they can get it cheaper on TehMoooo. No dude, you will not find my one of a kind painstakingly hand sawn, soldered, and polished piece of jewelry on effing TehMoo. I also assume they’re using slave/child labor cuz even the crappy materials should cost more than the prices they’re charging. Infuriating.

  • Honestly this makes me furious because I know that tiktokers are doing this for content. Real people, mostly women, have to sew every single one of those garments for shitty wages or as prison labor, and the fact that tiktokers are wasting money and the environmental cost of everything involved (and I KNOW I have seen hauls that are about showing off how wrong the clothes look compared to what was on the website) just makes me see red.

  • Ok so i fs with DHgate, that last one with the Beyonce dress, and they have great replicas, i am not saying that dress but i have bought items from them that are ok quality and great quality.. but i do always check, the reviews and the pic reviews, and make sure the pic reviews are real. But they do have good vendor on there. Oh and the storeschave rating to help. Good luck. And i am only vouching for Dhgate, thats the one i have purchased from and will be doing so again soon.

  • Forewarning – it’s happening with Ukrainian and Russian sellers as well. I suspect they aren’t actually from Ukraine or Russia, as they use sites that redirect, both financially, and from shipping. If you use Etsy, and the models are doing the same obnoxious poses, it’s all garbage. They started doing this, because the Chinese sites have been exposed. What’s worse, is Etsy is holding back on refunds now, so you’re basically screwed. There are some amazing designers out of China, Russia, and Ukraine, but you are going to pay A LOT.

  • Even putting aside my concerns of “where would you wear that dress” like, even for prom, you are like 16-18 in prom. Most of those dresses are for grown ups/Kardashians situations not prom But wherever, your body your choice. Why do you think it’s that cheap? You are seeing much boring dresses in stores for x3 the prices why would this dress be like 30$??

  • My sister didn’t order a dress, but she found a coat she really liked. It said if not satisfied, you could get your money back. In the picture, it was a dark pistachio color. When she received it, was a bright lime green and looked like a cheap felt replica of the picture. She called the “customer service” and told them she wanted to return it. They asked why, she told them. They said the picture was exactly what she got and they wouldn’t approve the return. The jacket was 45.00. She was extremely irritated. She was able to dispute it through her credit card. Pretty sure she will never again order from a China site.

  • I don’t feel bad for People who get things like this! If People honestly think they can buy a Dress like any of those pictured for $75 they deserve the mess they get. A Black Owned Company in Houston makes these Dress’ I forgot the name She said some of these gowns can take 6Mths to a Year plus to make with fittings in between starting at $4K! A local Dress designer in my Area starts at $1,500! You get what you pay for no need to cry about it and try to get Sympathy after You spent $ for someone to make it in a sweat shop.
