She said younger, successful couples are becoming less concerned with tradition and the idea of waiting to take the trip of a lifetime to celebrate a conventional milestone may feel antiquated.

How long should a honeymoon last?
How Long is the Average Honeymoon?. The average honeymoon lasts between 7 to 10 days. While some newlyweds may decide to extend their honeymoon to two weeks and beyond, others might decide to skip their honeymoon celebration altogether. It all depends on the couples vacation time, budget, and destination. In reality, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to that question, because honeymoons are as unique as the couples who plan them. Maybe your dream is a month spent backpacking through Europe, or perhaps a quiet weekend retreat in the mountains is more your style. If youre having a tough time figuring out your ideal honeymoon duration, we have some tips for you.
How Long Does It Take for You to Relax?. Honeymoons are primarily designed for you to spend uninterrupted quality time together, focusing on making memories as newlyweds and enjoying each others company. For that reason, the length of your honeymoon doesnt really matter, as long as youre disconnecting from the rest of the world and enjoying married life. However, another important role of the honeymoon is to help you relax after what may have been over a years worth of wedding planning. Considering this, think about how long it usually takes you to feel relaxed on vacation. For you, maybe thats a few days, a week, a month, or even longer. Once you have an estimate, discuss the same question with your partner to figure out how long you both need to unwind and de-stress after the big event. This gives you a starting point, or goal length, to consider while you continue your planning.
How Much Vacation Time Do You Have?. The next question you need to answer is how much time you can take away from work. Most Americans are only allotted two to three weeks paid time off; however, if youre planning far enough in advance, you may be able to stock up your vacation days to accommodate a longer honeymoon. Alternatively, you can attach your honeymoon travels to a national holiday, thus allowing you to use fewer paid vacation days. In some cases, due to workplace time-off limitations, couples decide to delay their honeymoons from a few weeks to a year after their wedding, so that they can have their ideal honeymoon when time permits. Its worth noting that, depending on the type of company you work for, you may find that youre permitted to take a few extra days off as a wedding gift, but have this conversation with your superior before you start making plans.

Excellent coverage of this atrocious crime. As a South African I’m very familiar with this case and have watched a few documentaries about it. As much as I will always feel that it was the husband, You’ve done well in pointing to different possibilities of how this beautiful young woman senselessly lost her life.
Living in Cape Town where it happened, I find one thing puzzling… the restaurant where they went to is a 55 to 60min drive from their hotel, only for them to say they wanted a light meal and the net the driver offer an alternative??? Yeah this thing stinks to high hell. There are plenty more beautiful places and safer to go to at night that was in close proximity to their hotel. This was definitely a planned hit. I mean there he is now….living the life with his boyfriend… really? And he couldnt just come out of the closet sooner and not marry Anni?
Don’t get me wrong, the idea of going to a foreign country and some rando’s being able to pin a crime on you is absolutely something to be wary of.. BUT there are way too many “coincidences” to chalk this up to that. He “didn’t believe in sex before marriage” well, not with his girlfriend anyway, because he was sleeping with some dude. This story is incredibly sad and it cost a family a beautiful daughter.
I watched this documentary and it was heartbreaking 💔. I am not Asian but I am aware of the pressure that some people feel I.e to get married. This is one pressure and then on top of this he was gay. You know there was no way he could be open about his sexuality. The shame on the family would have been too much. I am not making any excuses for his action but pressure forces people to commit desperate acts. RIP beautiful Annie. I really hope the family have a peace of mind 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The court acquitted Shrea ignoring the phone recordings and sad emails of Annie to her friend while on honeymoon. This is so frustrating. Why did the Annie’ s family ignored meeting the wx fiance of Shrea and the police also did not ask her about why the engagement was cancelled is also something very questionable which if had been done, Annie and her family would never have asked for marriage to that man and the police could have obtained further evidence.
I live in Cape Town, South Africa and sadly remember this case well, Remember thinking there’s no way anyone would go into the townships at night, it’s incredibly dangerous. There’s a lot of crime that takes place ….This murder generated more bad news re how unsafe South Africa can be. Not what this country needs.I felt Deveni got away with murder. Thank you for an excellent article. Wishing you all a happy Christmas and New Year 🌟🎄🌟🎄🌟🎄🕊
As dumb as murderers go, this one takes all of the cake. Talk about leaving loads of “circumstantial” evidence to line up with the prosecution’s case. It looks to me like the procecution’s star witness was bribed because this was supposed to be an open and shut case. What an evil, wicked soul. So R15,000 was all his wife was worth in his eyes. Somebody’s daugther, Sister, Aunty and future Mother and Grandmother. I hope he suffers as much as Anni was terrorised. Ladies, and even guys, leave any toxic relationship with the speed of light. Regardless of what you think the consequences of leaving might be, it is never worth your happiness and most definitely, you life!
I don’t think it’s fair that Shrien was found not guilty considering the amount of time he spent talking to the driver. It just seems suspicious and he came out as bisexual only after her death. It just doesn’t add up. He was so arrogant right after the judge announced the sentencing. He immediately left the court. So rude. I feel sorry for Anni may her soul rest in peace and her family. I hope her family will eventually get justice and the truth out. Such a young beautiful woman. May she rest in peace. 😔
I saw this story on another website. They reported that Anni had confided in friends that if she went through with the marriage, she would be forever miserable. She tried to back out of it, but her fiancé convinced her that if they didn’t marry, they would bring shame and dishonor to both of their families. Unfortunately, this convinced her to go through with it.
My heart goes out to Anni’s family as I believe her husband was the mastermind behind this. I don’t understand why he would marry her if he had conflicting sexuality within himself. Perhaps it’s a cultural thing??? I do believe she found out and he possibly didn’t want her to leave him and the truth come out. I doubt very much he’ll ever tell his truth. I hope that Anni’s family can in some way try to move forward and live with the fact that one day they too will be with her. May she Rest In Peace. 😢❤️
I’ve been living here in cape town since birth in 1966 and have always experienced our incompetent policeforce who takes forever to answer phone calls, slowly to respond to crime scenes and rotten, corrupt officers everywhere, low conviction rate as well.makes one sick.I’ll apologize to her family for not giving them the justice, closure they deserve so utterly.
Evidence in support of his sexual proclivity not allowed, is akin to concealing evidence. At any rate, the feelings of Anni’s family after the hollow verdict is where my sentiments lie. It truly is rather galling. So finished with the priority people place on sex and climatic gratification. In other words, carnality. It can become a distraction leading the mind to such deviation as observed here. Thanks for posting.
For Shrien to use one guy as his taxi driver in a foreign country is odd behaviour, also to have multiple interactions with him leading up to and after the murder is extremely suspicious. The information alone speaks volumes, from his secretive sexual actions and (I would guess) strict cultural values when it comes to marriage .. it doesn’t seem he is entirely innocent. I know the information against Shrien is circumstantial, but his actions do not add up or make sense for a tourist in a foreign country on their honeymoon.
What Shrian did is unforgivable but there’s also something to be said about the society practically handing these murderers an excuse/trigger by being unaccepting of their sexuality to the point that they’re ready to k1ll an innocent person because of it. I don’t know how Anni reacted after finding out about it but I’m sure it wasn’t pleasant. However, to call a hit on someone even if they were threatening to out you or destroy your life is completely horrifying and shows just how low the person has fallen. He could’ve told her it wasn’t working out instead of convincing her to marry him. He could’ve tried to find someone with similar interests as him, he’s a millionaire for God’s sake. I also think his parents have some part in pressuring him to marry the first innocent girl who they would find acceptable rather than someone who would know about his sexual preferences and accept him for what he was. The entire family seems sus
