What is the best part of Saint Lucia to stay?
We think the best place to stay in St. Lucia is in the south/southwest between Vieux Fort and Soufriere. This is where most of the island’s sites and attractions are located. You can experience more of the local history and culture here. Vieux Fort: There are a few nice guesthouses and inns near Vieux Fort. There is also a beautiful beach popular with kite surfers, the airport, shopping, and restaurants.
Soufriere: Soufriere is a tourist spot, but the area around it is more natural than the north. The town is run-down and busy with tourists. Be prepared to be approached by beggars and vendors. Stay outside of Soufriere. Hotels and resorts further out are expensive.
Is it worth going all inclusive in St Lucia?
I and a few others love AIs and often go to that type of resort. We also defend them a lot. Your travel style affects the answer to this question. If you like eating and drinking, AIs are a good value. People who don’t drink may not find AIs worth the money. People say the food at AIs isn’t good. That depends on the AI. The more luxurious the AI, the better the food. Sandals resorts are an exception. Their food is bad. I’ve stayed at two AIs in Mexico with better food. We’ve been to 15 AI resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean. We stayed at the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia and it was the second worst place we’ve ever been. RIU Tropical Bay in Negril, Jamaica is the worst AI experience I’ve had.
St. Lucia is spread out. If you don’t want to stay at an AI, check that your hotel has lots of restaurants and is near local places to eat. Taxi fares can make a hotel price less good.

Do take motion sickness medication when going from the Airport to Windjammer Landing. That ride is reminiscent of my youth traveling around the mountains of West Virginia. Don’t go to Dukes during the Friday night street party if they are serving Barracuda. The fish was so boney it was unbelievable. Do go on the land and sea tour with Seaspray cruises. That alone was better than the Friday night street party. It was unbelievable.
Bonjour Saint Luci, May pose the question, or let me express concern for this country. As a visit to the island my own country, something is talk about in relation to crime ( death- murders) rate in the lad. Is the news repeating itself ? Why is there or is there the high rate of this crimes happening in the land . Is the country changed hands, as an independent land still under British elements. Is what happening or told happening something to distinguish te land. And if I should add for those who know and enjoyed the cour of this land in all its jeuness. Saint lucia is a small island country. Stop the bloody opression.
I have stayed at Sugar Beach and Windjammer. Sugar Beech is wonderful but to be honest it’s not really a fun resort. More of a honeymoon place and on the high side. It is truly beautiful though. Windjammer is much livelier and way more fun. The food at the Windjammer is average at best. I would not go all-inclusive, I would take the short cab ride into Rodney Bay, cost 32 round trip and eat there at least a few times. We did have dinner a couple of times and it was ok. We ate lunch there and it was good. Dinner average. This all said the breakfast was good and the Windjammer is a lot of fun. All kinds of water sports, sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaks, paddle boats, sunset sailing trips that turn into a complete dance party. Every night they have entertainment. The staff is great and many of the staff remember your name and truly care about you. I took a Hobie Cat lesson for 50.00 the first day and then took out a boat the rest of the week for free. I cannot say enough good things about the Windjammer, my teenager loved it as did my wife. We went to Atlantis last year and this place was much more fun, and action packed. My wife never wants to repeat any trips, but she loved this place and is even considering getting a time share here.
