Where is the best place to get ready for a wedding?

The most common question I get is about bridal prep photos. I’m going to write a blog post about it. I think the best place to get ready is at home or at the venue if they have a big bridal suite. If you can’t use a home or bridal suite, a hotel room is the last choice. I’ll explain each option in detail. 1. A house: Homes usually have a living room with lots of natural light. I suggest the bride gets dressed in the living room because it provides space and light. If you have a room with lots of natural light, make sure it’s clean on the morning of the wedding. Ask your bridesmaids to put their bags in another room. Ask the hair and makeup team to use another room with window light. Keep that room clear and clean until it’s time to get dressed. A messy room won’t look good in photos. If your room has lots of furniture and not much space, clear it before the wedding. This will save time on the wedding day. You might have a better-lit bedroom than the living room. If it’s a small room, remove some furniture, especially the bed. A small bedroom makes it hard to get a good full-length shot of the bride getting ready. Photos usually end up with the bed in them, blocking the bottom of the gown. Choose a neutral-colored room with few pictures on the walls. Also, dressers are often cluttered with perfume, deodorant, and other items. Clear them off the day before. (Do you see a pattern?) Many couples use a friend or family member’s house to get ready in. People are happy to lend you their home to use the morning of the wedding. It makes them feel involved. If you don’t know anyone near the venue, you can rent a house. Some couples have rented houses for this. They are clean and ready for you!

2. Another great option is the bridal suite at the venue. The location is important. Most weddings are at the venue, so if you’re getting ready there too, you can save time and money! (Double whammy!) I’ve seen good and bad bridal suites, so don’t use your venue’s just because it has one! Check it out to see if you can fit everyone in. Make sure it’s well lit and looks good in pictures. Most are great, but a few are dark. If you use the bridal suite, make sure the bridesmaids keep their things to one side of the room and the bed is made, dishes are cleared, and it looks ready when the photographer arrives. 🙂

Who normally buys the wedding dress?

More brides’ attire. The brides family usually pays for her wedding dress and accessories. This includes the dress, veil, and shoes. Many modern brides pay for their gowns themselves, rather than relying on family.

Grooms attire. The groom’s family usually pays for his attire. But it’s not unusual for the groom to pay for his wedding suit. This cost is usually much less than the wedding gown. If the groom rents his suit, it will be even less.

Groomsmen suits/tuxes. Groomsmen have traditionally paid for their own suits and tuxedos. These items can be expensive, so letting your groomsmen rent their attire is a more affordable option. If your groomsmen rent from the same company, they’ll be coordinated. Read our Groom Fashion blog for more on groomsmen attire.

Where do people usually get ready for wedding?

It can be hard to find a good place to get ready on your wedding morning. The top three easy choices are usually your venue, a nearby hotel, or your house. If these options don’t work, you can try another place. Maybe you can’t get to your venue early, or the hotels nearby don’t fit with your vision, or your parents’ house is too far away. I recommend my couples check out Airbnb! Airbnb is the answer! Couples have used Airbnbs for getting ready locations on their wedding days. (This beautiful boho Airbnb in Asbury Park, NJ was used for bridal getting-ready photos from Tera & Matt’s wedding!) I love Airbnbs!

1. You can choose something fun to fit the vibe of your day. Hotels are sterile and generic, but you can choose an Airbnb with character for your wedding vibe!

2. No clutter or cleaning! Your home might have enough space for getting ready, but if you’re worried about stressing about cleaning and hiding clutter, an Airbnb that’s already clean and has minimal clutter will make life easier.

Does the guy or girl pay for the wedding?

In the past, the groom’s family paid for the wedding. This included the ring, engagement party, wedding and reception, brunch the next day, and a reception if there was one. The groom’s family paid for the rehearsal dinner, the officiant, the marriage license, and the groom paid for the bride’s engagement and wedding rings and honeymoon. The bride just showed up. Below is a list of traditional expenses and responsibilities for the brides, grooms, bridesmaids, groomsmen, and wedding guests. These days, all of the following guidelines for family expenses are variable. The couple and their families often share expenses, so assign responsibilities based on your circumstances.

Traditional Expenses of the Bride & Her Family. Services of a wedding consultant; Invitations, enclosures, and announcements; The bride’s wedding gown and accessories; Floral decorations for the ceremony and reception; The bride’s bouquet; Tent, awning, aisle runner; Music for church and reception; Transportation of bridal party to ceremony and to reception; All reception expenses. If necessary, hire a traffic officer or security. Have a photographer, videographer, and DVD made. If the officiant is from another town and invited by the bride’s family, pay for their transportation and lodging. Have a bridesmaid luncheon. Give bridesmaids gifts. Give the groom a wedding ring.

How many months before wedding do you get your dress?

Make your bridal dress appointments 9-12 months before your wedding. This date is to choose and order a dress 8-9 months before the wedding. You have time to shop around and find the perfect dress. It also means you won’t have to pay extra and gives designers time to make your dress. Each gown is made to order, so it will take longer. Finally, this timeline allows for alterations after the dress is made. The dress will be made to fit you, but it might need to be altered. This is something brides should plan for. Don’t start dress shopping before 12 months out. Starting your wedding dress hunt too early can lead to regret. Brides who start before 12 months often compare their dress to newer designs. The farther out your wedding, the less you know. Choose your dress based on your wedding theme and location.

Can I have bare legs at a wedding?

I’ve said that bare legs are fine at formal events, but hosiery is also acceptable if it’s the right color and sheer. I just got back from a wedding where I wore my new $10.

This question came in just as I was about to talk about this…Dear Answer Angel Ellen: My son is getting married in November. I’m wearing a black sequined sheath. I have black sequined pumps that will look great with the dress. I’d rather wear tights because it’s November and the shoes are tight. Should I wear bare legs or hosiery? What color should I wear? Dear Sharri, I’ve just refined my advice on this question, thanks to some trial and error. People often ask The Angel about what to wear to weddings. Should you wear bare legs or hosiery to a wedding?
