Why is Violet Evergarden 18+?
The romance in this movie is between a teenage girl (IMO drawn as a preteen in some flashback sequences) and an adult man. Parents need to watch this ahead of time and be prepared to discuss grooming, trafficking, and age appropriate relationships with their children.
In VIOLET EVERGARDEN: THE MOVIE, Daisy is a young girl mourning the loss of her grandmother. She finds a collection of old letters written to her grandmother by her great-grandmother Violet (Yui Ishikawa), who worked as a scribe or Auto Memory Doll after the war. Violets job was to write letters for those who found it difficult to put their feelings into words. During the war, she was a skilled soldier who was adopted and trained by Major Gilbert Bougainvillea (Daisuke Namikawa). During a particularly bloody battle, Gilbert is injured, and as Violet tries to carry him to safety, a grenade lands nearby, resulting in the loss of both of her arms. As they are separated for what seems like the last time, Gliberts parting words to her are I love you. In the years after the war, Violet gets a pair of mechanical arms and hands, and attains success as a letter writer because she has found a way to channel her love and loss for Gilbert into words for others, but when a tween boy who is sick and bedridden asks her to write letters for his loved ones, Violet must confront her feelings for Gilbert, especially when she learns of rumors that Gilbert may still be alive. As she goes off in search of Gilbert, she must learn why Gilbert chose to disappear and lead her to believe that he had died, and, if she sees him, express her true feelings for him.
This is an incredibly epic and richly-detailed tearjerker of an anime drama. Violet Evergarden: The Movie, based on the novel and anime series, reveals so much in the animation, finding so much beauty and story in the minutest details. Its also a complex story of flashbacks within flashbacks within flashbacks, but theres a method to the madness, and its a story that rewards attention and focus. Its an origin story, and one thats accessible for those unfamiliar with Violet, and rewarding for those who are already fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story! Reviewed in the UK on 12/23/2023 I couldn’t wait to see more! Gorgeous! This story is about healing, companionship, magic, and love. This book is a waste of money. The story was boring and there weren’t many actions. Miyo sounds like a child. I hated her character. This volume was boring and a waste of time and money. I won’t buy volume 6.

📹 My Happy Marriage | Manga Recommendation
This video review may not be very long, but it made me no less passionate about this incredible series! It is heartbreaking, but it …
Welcome to the Light Novel pit! There are a lot of great titles out there (and a lot of not so great ones) I had a quick look at the recommendations you got and didn’t see ‘How To Win Her Heart on the Nth Try’, ‘Anime Supremacy’, ‘JK Haru is a Sex Worker In Another World’ or ‘Ascendance of a Bookworm’ – looking on your website these may very well be up your street 🙂 Have fun!
yay, you’re getting into light novels!! i read one of kureha’s other series (the white cat’s revenge) but didn’t love it because the male lead was so possessive and controlling (i like a clingy man but this went past even what i’m comfortable with). the series i’m collecting right now are kuma kuma kuma bear, by the grace of the gods, dahlia in bloom, the weakest tamer, the saint’s magic power, and the sorcerer’s receptionist. they’re all the same vibe–wholesome fantasy. if you want something a little more political, maybe try accomplishments of the duke’s daughter.
I’m trying again with light novels. Idk what it is… but I just can never get into the style of how it is written. It’s just not enough description for me and it is hard for me to visualize who is speaking and what-not. Anyway, I just finished “No Game No Life” the anime and I am salty they never made a second season! So I ordered the books so I can find out how the story ends. I used to have a ton of LN but got rid of them because I rarely read them. However, I think part of the problem is I ordered way too many at once and then it became overwhelming to read a series. So I am going to try a more “Bite-sized” approach 🙂
I would like to recommend 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! It is not an isekai, but a time travel/time loop. I think you would like it. It has a strong female lead and the dynamic between her and the male lead is really enjoyable to read. Its one of my absolute favorites!
Have you read any of the Rascal light novels? I’m tempted to get into those because the manga is coming out so slowly.. Enjoyed your thoughts on My Happy Marriage and Even If This Love Disappears Tonight, gonna keep those in mind 👀 I just started reading the Bungo Stray Dogs light novels, so probably will take some time to go through all of those 📚
I read the first light novel of My Happy Marriage in June and since then the rest of the novels are still out of stock in Europe🥲 Waiting for them to come back in stock to continue reading the story as I also really liked it. After reading it I’m going to watch the anime for sure. You should def read the Durarara SH light novel sequel series and I can also recommend another bittersweet light novel Three Days of Happiness.
