Who Does Alexis Rose End Up With?

The series ends with Alexis on her own, without any romantic relationships, heading off to New York without her family members. This is a beautiful and important moment for Alexis, as it allows her to grow as a character. Alexis has had her fair share of romantic entanglements throughout the series, including Ted Mullens and Mutt Schitt. However, her last decision on the show gave her the most character growth. Alexis and her “Galapa-guy” Ted break up before the series finale, and she eventually branches out on her own. Alexis Rhodes, known as Asuka Tenjoin in the Japanese version, is a strong female Duelist from the Obelisk Blue dormitory at Duel Academy and one of Jaden Yukis’ closest friends. She also has relationships with celebrities, including claims of casual dating Prince Harry and hooking up with Josh Groban and Adam Levine. The situation between Alexis Rose, Ted Mullens, and Mutt Schitt could be considered an anti-love triangle due to its subverting nature.

Rose, the most recurring character in the series, appears in every major arc, except for the second half of vol 4. Alexis and Ted, the main characters, did not end up together in Schitt’s Creek due to their different paths in life. Ted, initially introduced as the veterinarian in town, quickly became a love interest for Alexis. After their relationship ended amicably, Alexis decided to pursue her own career and move to New York City. Ted’s commitment-phobic nature made Alexis feel unstable, but they eventually found happiness and stability in their relationship.

Alexis’s love life took a turn for the worse when she split from Ted in season six. The relationship ended amicably when Alexis decided their careers were taking them in opposite directions. Eventually, Alexis and Ted reconciled, but their relationship was tested by Ted’s six-month work trip to the Galapagos Islands.

Annie Murphy played Alexis Rose for the entire 80-episode run of Schitt’s Creek, and her breakup with Ted and moving to New York was a form of independence she hadn’t experienced before.

Does Alexis end up with Mutt?

Alexis had an obvious crush on Mutt but they both were dating other people at the time. When they finally acted on their feelings, Alexis was engaged to Ted (Dustin Milligan) but she later left him to be with Mutt. The relationship survived until the middle of Schitts Creek season 2 when Alexis seemed to lose interest after Mutt shaved his beard. In reality, it was the communication issues that drove them apart. Following the breakup with Alexis in Schitts Creek, Mutt mostly disappeared from the series. Heres what happened to Mutt.

After appearances in the tail-end of Schitts Creek season2, Mutt was only present for the first episode season 3. By this point,he was dating a conservationist named Tennessee (Sarah Power). He was initially last seen asking Alexis to watch his barn after planning an overnight trip with Tennessee to forage for pine cones. The trip must have lasted longer than expected because he didnt return until much later. Muttsdeparture as a regularcast member following Schitts Creekseason 2 is due to the fact that Rozon landed a starring role on Wynonna Earp. There simply wasnt time for Rozon to appear on both shows. This would also explain why his subsequentappearances wereguest spots, requiring considerably less shooting time.

In Schitts Creek season 4, Jocelyn Schitt was revealed to be pregnant with another son. Mutt reappeared in the episode titled The Rollout just before the birth of his brother, Roland Moira Schitt. Viewers also learned that Mutt was newly single when he returned to town. Alexis was planning a Singles Weekend at the time but she still harbored feelings for Ted. Mutt tried to rekindle his romance with Alexis, but she had moved on and grown since he left. Seeing Mutt ultimately again gave Alexis the courage to face Ted in order to spill her heart out.

Does Alexis marry the vet?

The pair professed their love, but they amicably decided it would be best to break up as they were heading in different directions with their respective dream jobs. Alexis and Ted didnt end up together, but this was a different ending for the couple from the original plan unveiled by Dan Levy, who revealed (via EW) …

  • Alexis and Ted didnt end up together on Schitts Creek because they were on different paths in life.
  • Keeping Alexis and Ted together would have ruined Alexis character growth and arc on the show.
  • Actress Annie Murphy initially didnt like the idea of Alexis and Ted not ending up together, but later understood it was necessary for the characters development.

While Alexis Rose (Annie Murphy) and Ted Mullens (Dustin Milligan) were a fan-favorite couple on Schitts Creek, many viewers were surprised that Alexis and Ted didnt end up together by the shows final episode in 2020. The fish-out-of-water story of Schitts Creek saw each Rose family member change for the better thanks to the small town. The most important person in Alexis journey was Ted, despite the ups and downs of their romance. Their charming chemistry and sweet love story had many fans of the show rooting for Alexis and Ted to make it work.

Right from the beginning of Alexis arrival in the small rural town of Schitts Creek, Ted was a fixture in Alexis life. Ted was initially introduced as the veterinarian in town, but he quickly became a love interest for Alexis. Though their relationship had some rocky moments in their relationship early on, Ted and Alexis developed a love that brought out the best in each other even if their individual paths in life during the final season of Schitts Creek meant they wouldnt end up together.

Do David and Stevie end up together?

Were first introduced to David Rose (Dan Levy), a proud member of the LGBTQ community, when we see his familys mansion being repossessed, and like the rest of the Rose family, he is in the middle of a meltdown. Finding out that they are now bankrupt, and their only remaining asset is a small town named Schitts Creek (which they bought as a joke), the Roses are forced to relocate there. This is where David first meets Stevie Budd (Emily Hampshire), the ‘90s grunge inspired motel clerk at where they now call home. In true privileged fashion, David goes to the front desk to inquire if there is a “business center” at the motel to which Stevie sarcastically quips that he can find it “right beside the Hammam Spa.” This scene instantly sets the tone for the type of playful banter their relationship will thrive on. But after a very brief brush with something non-platonic, set off by a drunken night together, they decide they are just better off as friends.

While they come from entirely different backgrounds, with David being born into wealth and luxury, and Stevie having lived out her days as a small-town girl, we get to see they are actually remarkably similar people. Both are searching for meaning in their lives. Stevie has become almost numb to her repetitive working days, with very little else going on, while David has finally had to come face to face with his inner demons now that he no longer has the comfort of his lavish lifestyle to distract him. Davids struggles remind the viewer that insecurities are universal, and that money doesnt always change that, it simply masks them better. We come to see that both these characters feel very much alone in the world. Cue the start of a beautiful friendship.

Throughout the series they go through all the typical friend scenarios; road trips, helping each other through heartbreak, and getting into an accidental throuple situation (okay, so it isnt all typical). But a turning point in their relationship is reached in Season 4, when we see a vulnerable David admit to Stevie that, in the past, the more he revealed of himself “the less interested people got” and that he now realizes shes the “best friend” he ever had. This is the moment that we witness their relationship go from just a well-suited friendship to a genuine love story.

Who ends up with Alexis?

  • Love triangles are often criticized for being overused and unnecessary in popular media, pitting the protagonists love interests against each other.
  • Canadian sitcom Schitts Creek subverted the love triangle trope by allowing the protagonist, Alexis, to develop as a character and prioritize her own growth and independence.
  • The relationships between Alexis, Ted, and Mutt in Schitts Creek were well-developed and showed the importance of self-discovery and putting ones dreams first. In the end, Alexis chose to remain single and focus on herself.

The love triangle is one of the most polarizing romance tropes, and yet so much popular media features at least one, from The Great Gatsby back in 1925 to the recently concluded Sex Education. Theyre often criticized for being dragged out, with love triangles in The Vampire Diaries and Jane the Virgin spanning several seasons, or for seeming downright unnecessary — did The Hunger Games really need the forced question of Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) versus Gale (Liam Hemsworth)? It was always obvious that the former was the right choice. Theyre a cliché of teen and YA shows, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Riverdale, so they have a rep for feeling juvenile and frivolous. And perhaps the most annoying thing about them is they end up pitting the protagonists two love interests against each other — see Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacobs (Taylor Lautner) intense rivalry in Twilight.

One show, however, absolutely nailed the love triangle — Canadian sitcom Schitts Creek. The situation between Alexis Rose (Annie Murphy), Ted Mullens (Dustin Milligan), and Mutt Schitt (Tim Rozon) could perhaps better be considered an anti-love triangle due to the way it subverts conventions of the trope. The storyline works so well as both Ted and Mutt help facilitate Alexis excellent character development at different stages in her arc, and while it begins as a typical love triangle in Season 1, it soon becomes clear that the show has much bigger plans for Alexis than spending six seasons oscillating between two guys who, quite frankly, arent as interesting as she is. That being said, Mutt and Ted are both likable characters despite being very different from each other, and Alexis shares good chemistry with both of them; it makes sense why shes torn between them at first. Though Alexis has relationships with both men over the course of the show, she ends up with neither of them, making it clear that theyre just stepping stones in her journey toward independence.

Who will Alexis end up with in Schitt’s Creek?

When Mutt briefly returns at the end of Season 4, he makes a move on Alexis, but she has the confidence to reject him despite being unattached — she knows her heart is with someone else, and no longer craves a distraction from that fact. Alexis and Ted stay in touch, though, and Season 4 ends with them reuniting after Ted confesses his feelings for her. Alexis had similarly put herself out there a few episodes before, expecting nothing in return. After their slow burn development, the subsequent romance between Alexis and Ted feels earned, and they go on to have a happy and healthy relationship throughout Season 5 that brings many humorous and heartfelt moments to the series.

When Alexis opens her own PR company and Ted gets a job opportunity in the Galápagos for six months, the duo are faced with the challenging prospect of a long-distance relationship. Alexis originally intends to join Ted, but both of them eventually face the reality that its not what she wants, and she wouldnt be happy on a remote island with only her boyfriend to keep her occupied. They manage several months long-distance, in which Alexis flourishes as she focuses on her business. When Teds contract gets extended to three years, the couple mutually agree to break up in a scene thats one of the shows most emotional yet; its bittersweet, but tinged with optimism since this is the best move for both of them. Its refreshing that Schitts Creek shows a break-up in such a positive light — Alexis and Ted still love each other, but theyre both at points in life where they want to prioritize their ambitions and exciting new career developments. It doesnt make their relationship any less meaningful or undermine the impact they had on each other, and it feels possible that one day they could reconcile.

When Alexis struggles after the break-up and has an unsuccessful rebound, she accepts that she needs to face head-on the heartbreak shes so unfamiliar with experiencing due to all her previous relationships being shallow and unsatisfying. She remains single for the rest of the series, and its the perfect conclusion to her arc. At the start of the show, she defines herself through her surface-level relationships with men. Now, she knows not only what she wants out of a relationship, but also that she doesnt have to be in one to feel complete. It is because of Alexis initial romance with Mutt that she is able to realize what she really wants from a partner — somebody she connects with and who understands her. Through her relationship with Ted, she sees that she is able to have a fulfilling relationship where she doesnt settle for less than what she deserves, and that a partner should love and support her fully. Alexis relationship with Ted also allows her to mature emotionally to the point where she realizes that she shouldnt prioritize a man over her goals and dreams; Season 1 Alexis would never have made this decision.

Who does Stevie Budd end up with?

After a season of Stevie (Emily Hampshire) questioning her life decisions and career path, she ultimately decides to work with Johnny and Roland to build the Rosebud Motel Group.

Her role within the group requires her to have a home base in Schitts Creek while traveling around the country to open new Rosebud Motel locations.

After David Rose asks her why shes staying in Schitts Creek after talking about living and working elsewhere, Stevie explains that she didnt want to move to a big city like New York. She just wanted to know that she could.

  • I don’t see anyone talking about it, so I will do it myself. David was sort of parentified, and you can see that the parents didn’t mean to do that. Its sad as well as heartwarming to see David trying to protect Alexis when they were rich. He doesn’t blames his dad, but he is trying to fulfill Johnny’s lackings.,while David himself is a mess. I relate to it. While my parents aren’t completely ignorant, they don’t see the mischiefs of my younger siblings and I have to use my discretion and abilities to help them. Much like young David, always worried about his sister but also not well equipped to help and confused himself.

  • This show only gets better the more you dig into it. Tracking the character arcs of all the characters big and small and how they play off of each other shows how much thought went into it. There are even things unfolding in the background with super minor characters like hearing the slow decline of Bob’s marriage leading up to the divorce.

  • I’ve never liked a show as much as Schitt’s Creek. \r I’ve never felt as safe as when I’m in its world. \r I’ve never known love as free to grow as when I’m perusal it. \r It’s not been an easy few months for any of us, but knowing that it will always be there for us makes everything okay. \r \r Thanks to Dan, Eugene and all the cast, crew and writers for creating this perfect gem of a show that has shown us how beautiful the world could be. They will never truly understand what they have given us or how much their beautiful creation has meant to us. Our effusive thanks is but a mote of dust in the beam of sunlight we bask in thanks to them. We will forever be indebted to them for the joy they have given us in 22 minute segments and I wish nothing but the best of luck with all future endeavours.\r \r I think that the fact that there is no homophobia or bigotry in Schitt’s Creek is wonderful and that is why it means so much to LGBTQAI+ people and their allies. There never needed to be an angsty episode where people were commenting on David’s Pan-sexuality, Patrick being Gay, Jake being Polyamorous (although I suspect that Jake is a Sexual Hedonist rather than Poly) or Ronnie being a Lesbian. Everyone just accepts everyone for who they are, and wouldn’t that be a wonderful world to live in?

  • I was hoping you would talk more about how the town is a fantasy because there is seemingly no consequence to having or not having wealth. There are no homeless people or folks working for slave wages. David is able to open a successful business because he is randomly gifted $40,000. Stevie “realises her potential” because her aunt gives her a motel that she can later franchise. Even Mutt is able to lead his sexy back woods lifestyle; the bisexual guy is able to live like a Manhattan swinger despite making designer furniture in rural no where for a living. SC is a place divorced from economic systems, which is the appeal of the show. But I was disappointed that there never seemed to be a reckoning with this Oz v Kansas framing.

  • Also one more important thing is that being in the town amended their relationships. Earlier the family cares little about each other. But later on, Alexis and her mother have bettered their relationship, the parents often express love and care for their children and no longer distanced like the so many times Alexis went missing and none of the parents knew. Also Alexis and David’s relationship also gets better when David expresses how concerned he was every time she went missing. It is also one of the best things about the show.

  • Never have I found a series where I’ve deeply cared about every one of the main characters; but they went out at the right time, and with class leaving it to our imaginations to see where they all ultimately landed in their lives, feeling happy for each one of them. It’s a series I will revisit with much love in my heart.

  • Just finished the show today aftwr starting it on the 4th of this month… and WOW! I wanna go back and rewatch it AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN! Every single person had such big character developments! Alexis and David especially! Im bummed Alexis and Ted never got their happy ending but im glad David was able to with Patrick. I catch myself talking like Moira and Alexis every now and then haha.

  • there are always inconsistencies in shows, but a couple things in the last season stand out to me. the first thing is kinda petty, but… the time when moira and johnny tried to stay in the suite at the new motel-when roland and jocelyn showed up, they acted surprised to see johnny and mora there, but they would have had to see their car which surely would’ve been parked just a few feet from the door. and then…ted is a small town veterinarian who somehow gets picked for a job opportunity in the galapagos. at first i think maybe it’s just a lottery type thing, but then he gets offered a permanent position to study turtles or flies or whatever. but he’s just a small town vet, not a scientist.

  • THE TAKE Have you ever considered doing articles on the 4 women of Desperate Housewives? There’s a lot to unpack there–Susan’s childishness, Gabby’s selfishness, Bree’s suppression & control issues and anal retentive personality, and Lynette’s control issues and refusal to be happy, or even content. You could even do a article on Gabby and Carlos’s relationship–How two people can bring out both the best AND the worst in one another. It would also be interesting to see a article about Peggy Hill’s narcissism. To this day, lots of people are still making articles about King of the Hill, and Peggy seems to be the top topic. Or what about a article on Penny from The Big Bang? She sacrificed her dreams and settled–in both her career and her choice in her romantic partner. Was this the right thing to do? Just some ideas. I love your website, it’s my favorite ☺💜

  • Great review. Alexis is my favourite of all. Everyone needs a Patrick. Patrick is not just a person. He’s a state of mind. Patrick is a feeling ❤️. I like even the supporting cast, can’t forget Mutt. I think he is first person to makes some senses and turn Alexis around. Mutt was the first reason Alexis becomes more grounded and it was obviously heavily supported by Ted. I love Ronnie too. I love hw sarcastic she is. I can relate to her anytime. How Bob slowly runs with his hands holding up is another thing I always think funny. Moira is a legend. No argument in that. The friendship between Stevie and David, Alexis and Twyla are the most precious. Thank you Levys for creating this masterpiece. Thank you for the cast for giving the life to it. The best Tv in my whole life is Schitt’s Creek ❤️

  • I only discovered Schitt”s Creek recently, during its final season. I’m now consumed by it. This analysis explains perfectly why. It’s a utopia where capitalism is not ostracized but accumulating wealth is not the top priority. America has been derailed because too many Americans still think their human value is determined by luxury symbols and economic success.

  • I loved the show and cared about how the characters stories concluded, but I have issues with parts of the ending. I felt that the re building of the business empire was a bit too fantastical and sends a message that anyone can do that if they try hard enough with a positive attitude, and ignores the real limitations of poverty and class. As such it almost has boot strap ideology vibes but maybe thats just me reading into it. It also felt strange as the family had seemingly grown out of their hyper luxurious and wealth bubble lifestyles to become more grounded and empathetic, only to again become business gods at the end. The most satisfying character arc though is probably that of David. Just my thoughts though, curious about other people’s thoughts.

  • It’s funny, despite being a huge Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara fan since the late 70s, I tried perusal Schitt’s Creek and just couldn’t get into it. A couple of years ago, a friend told me it’s worth perusal, so I made myself watch the first several episodes…and I’m so glad I did! I absolutely love this show and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Never have I seen such utterly annoying characters blossom into caring, thoughtful, wonderful people. Lol, one thing that really bothered me was Jocelyn’s hair. Why did they decide to put her in that gawd-awful wig?! 😂

  • I’m so glad all 4 won an Emmy at the same time! 🎉🏆 But then I get sad when I remember that Annie Murphy lost the Golden Globe, Critics Choice and SAG. Especially the GG, because she was the only one out the 4 to go home empty handed. ☹😭 Catherine O’Hara won for best actress; Dan and Eugene Levy both won the best comedy GG as creators/producers. At least Murphy got a SAG for the show winning best comedy ensemble.. hopefully her new show (Kevin can F Himself) is a critical hit so she can take another crack at the previously mentioned awards. 🙃👐 Ok, rant over. 😂

  • I really loved that they all stayed the same on the surface: Johnny needs his business and suits, Moira is, well….. Moira (lol), David is a sarcastic bitch and Alexis comes off as spoiled. But by the end of the show, that aren’t those skin deep archetypes anymore. They have grown, changed and found connection. Ugh, LOVE this show! 💖💖💖💖
