  • In the last story, it sounds like the wife had already lost her love of the OP long before she admitted it. The way she talks about the marriage being done for so adamantly is a big indicator, to me, that she has no feelings anymore, and likely has already developed feelings for someone else. In her eyes, the man she married was gone, replaced by a fat, mopey guy who doesn’t pay his way. Not saying she’s right, but it’s very often the case that people come to resent those they love if they become burdensome, and in the case of a marriage, unattractive. It’s never fair, but it happens all the time

  • Story 1: The moment that mother came there drunk, they should’ve thrown them out on the spot…. but sharting yourself on purpose??? Really??? Thats not even remotely an accident. That’s not entitled, thats just sick. I did laugh a lot when the aunt knocked her in the jaw though, majorly warranted there. I feel awful for Kyle and Mary though, what a lousy thing to go through.

  • Story 3. The OP should tell his wives parents about their daughter’s behavior and entitlement. And explain how they helped her when she was depressed. And how she’s abandoning him when he’s going through the same thing. So that her parents can maybe talk some sense into her and make her. And make her realize that what she is doing is wrong in a lot of ways.

  • Last story, this is my reality right now. My wife is in the military and told me she is resenting me because I am disabled with leukemia and depression. I watch our daughter and she’s been away and we haven’t seen each other in 2 years. For some reason she thinks she can just wash her hands of the marriage and she won’t be financially responsible. But she found out she will most likely have to pay me alimony which I WILL SEEK, I have seen other men like me just go separate ways and get screwed over while the wife moves on living good and gets remarried he’s struggling. Since also I have watched out daughter for longer than we’ve had her I will also receive primary custody and she’ll be paying some child support. Once my wife found out about this part that she just couldn’t wash her hands and walk away clean her ideals changed. She went from unwilling to Oh we can work on it. Because a good portion of her monthly income coming to me as alimony supporting my needs instead of my disability and VA disability and her income supporting us together.

  • Just a point of correction in story #1, you don’t retire from active duty to become a drill sergeant. Drill Sergeants ARE ACTIVE DUTY. My dad was a Drill in the 90s. That said, Kyle may have retired from military service and became a civilian instructor to the military, but most definitely NOT a Drill Sergeant. Which is what I think OP meant

  • After listening to the first story, I was surprised at how 2 people would go and ruin someone’s wedding, like why the f#@k would you do this to someone’s wedding? Too bad the 2 idiots will never go to another Family Wedding ever again And yet I find this surprising since I’ve been to multiple Friends and Family Weddings and I’m one of the Groomsmen for my Twin Brothers Wedding coming up on May 20th 2023

  • I’ve never known anyone that can poop at will, much less in such a fowl way as that first story. My guess is it wasn’t done on purpose, but that the mother was so plastered that she didn’t have control of her bodily functions and didn’t care that it happened. But whatever the case, you don’t disrespect a couple on their wedding day, and I also wouldn’t invite her to any others. If the wedding bothered her and the OP’s sister that much, she and the sister should have never agreed to attend. I’ll also put some of the blame on the aunt when they showed up drunk. Instead of being rushed through getting prepped, they should have been sent packing, possibly in the back of a patrol car to see that they got safely home or whatever. It would’ve been much less embarrassing to be a couple brides maids short than to have the fiasco that did happen.

  • The last story: I see a lot of people blaming the wife. However, I’ve been depressed and being around someone who’s depressed. I’m the one who “seems to be much better” like the wife as well. But, often times, depressed people can not seem depressed because they’re trying to not be depressed. It’s incredibly hard for someone who’s trying to get better to be around someone who’s just moping around, and refusing to get better no matter how hard you try to support them. The problem is, you have to be the one who tries to get better, no one else can help you otherwise. It has to come from you. I find it incredibly selfish to continuously use depression as an excuse to not try to seek help, and bring everyone around you down with you. It’s pretty telling in the post, considering the wife said: “you don’t try to get better” and him making one excuse after another about why he isn’t getting help. I can sympathize with your depression, but I’m also just human. I can’t carry both your depression and mine and actually get better.

  • I really love that you’re playing Sonic Heroes in the background. Sonic is just too underrated, but thankfully after frontiers came out. He grew back to his former glory. Seeing people play sonic as background for story times, makes me incredibly happy. My blue boy has gone places that he never wants to go again…

  • Last story, it sounds like OP might have hidden some things. Yes ive had depression too and guess what, i dragged myself to therapy despite my whole adian family saying i dont need it. Being raised up to see therapy as weak is not an excuse to not seek it out. The weight gain, self pity, and so on and so forth may not be equal to what the wife has gone through. Did OP do a wonderful thing helping his wife when she was depressed? Yes. Can you say that its just as easy for her to do the same for him? Hard to say, firstly everyone is different and now that shes making all the money and tired PLUS he doesn’t seem to want to help himself by talking about his ‘ low will power’ and only agreeing to therapy after what seemed like pulling teeth, its hard to look after something that wont look after itself. Is it fair that she seems to have lost feeling for him? Of course its not fair, but thats life… it’s really one sided and as someone who also looked after someone with a mental health issue while i was suffering my own, only to have him dump me and blame all his issues on me… looking after someone with mental health issues cab also be triggering and drag you down . Life is not fair and you cant expect equal love and attention based on unequal life stages. Some people suffer more than others and some people provide less than others.

  • I feel my mom is a toxic person because she got very mad at me for not saying thank you at a track game to a teammate for saying good job and I do not know what to do this is not the first time either and she is a hyocite also who can never admit when she is wrong like the time she said to not say anthing at all when I just bascilly said what she is always saying to me

  • The last story makes me wonder if the woman is having an affair with the man who took her for her motorcycle, and if they are so strapped for money how did she afford a new motorcycle. She needs to appreciate that her husband has a full time job staying at home taking care of a 4 year old and the house, that is a big job that never ends at the end of shift.

  • OOOOOH HECK NO!!!! THEY BOTH would’ve gotten KICKED OUT! Mom 1.) for being SOUSED and BELLIGERENT and 2.) because she had NO remorse for basically RUINING what should have been a beautiful day…..I am so so sad that the bride and groom had to deal with that. SHE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN KICKED OUT TO BEGIN WITH! (>.<) Sister because she was pretty much ENABLING mother. I would be in tears too……my heart hurts for the sweet bride and her groom 😢😢😢

  • If the guy from the 3rd story happens to see this – I’m sorry, but you deserve more. You stood by your wife and got her through her struggles, heck, she even said you saved her life multiple times, but she can’t, or rather won’t do the same for you?! I know you don’t want to leave her without a husband but dude, she made that choice, not you. As for your Son, even if you’re not at home 100% of the time you can still be an amazing Dad. And who knows, some time apart may make your wife realise how awful she’s been and what a huge mistake she’s made – they say absence makes the heart grow fonder for a reason! And if she doesn’t realise, well, then you’re in a better position to rebuild your life because you deserve more than what you’re getting from her. You helped with her depression but she’s making yours worse – that’s not on, and if you stay there with her so certain she’s done it’s going to make your depression worse. Maybe take some time apart, seek that help (talking with strangers is often easier – it doesn’t seem it before hand and you may have to try a few different therapists to find the right “fit” but you’ll probably find that you can open up more) and then you thrive and I reckon that’ll make her see she’s made a huge mistake. And in the meantime you can share custody of your son – that doesn’t make you a bad father, it doesn’t make you like your Dad (which it seems you’re desperate not to be), it just means you’re in a shitty situation but as long as you’re showing your kid love I’m sure it’ll be fine.

  • OMG If it wasn’t my poop, I’m not cleanung up anyone else’s poop. If the smell was that bad to make everyone there get sick and vomit Are they sure that dhe wasn’t possessed with a demon and being in the middle of a church with a priest. i’m so stunned from just hearing that story. nasty, nasty, nasty NASTY!!!!!!

  • The first story reminds me of when I was younger I went to a swim squad school thing and the owner had two pain in the ass kids the worst one was her youngest kid the first terrible thing was he decided to kick my older sister for beating him in a race and the last thing was absolutely horrific he decided to poop in the BLOODY POOL because he wasn’t allowed to swim in the shallow area of the pool

  • 🤯THERES DIFFRENT LEVELS OF FUNNY BUT THIS 1 WAS HA HA HA LARIOUS MAN I HAVENT LAUGHT AND FAMILY THOUGH I WAS NUTS I WAS ON PHONE perusal IT MAN THIS WAS LIKE MOVIE OF THE WEEK IT HAD ALL THE MAKEING OF YA BABY A BEGINING OF A WEDDING EVEN IF IT WAS UGLY,,A CRAZY PERSON TAKEING THE SPOT LIGHT AWAY THE MOM AT THAT ATAKE UR BREATH AWAY MOMENT 💩 A FIGHT AND STILL A HAPPY ENDING HAHAHAHAH THANKS FOR THIS STORY IT WAS WORTH EVERY WORD HAHAH KEEP THIS GOING WE LOVE THE STORYS🙂👍

  • If you aren’t willing to actually deal with your depression so you can move forward instead of using it as a crutch or something to blame for whatever the problem of the day is it can start to wear down the other partner, especially if that partner is constantly working to bring in the sole income for the household. It sucks to say but sometimes you have to cut someone off, if that person isn’t willing to even attempt to improve their mental health, to keep yourself from spiraling downwards too… There is a four year old child that needs atleast one functional parent.. if that means cutting one parent off for the survival of the remaining family unit then so be it…

  • This is what I would do is Story 2. Me: OKAY. So here’s what’s going to happen. You’re gonna keep that phone to me, so I can. So I can install some tracking and tracking and spyware so that I can keep an eye on what you’re doing. Making sure you’re not cheating on me again. If you do not. What’s that you can move? Because I’m not living with the theater, and I’m not passionately hugging a cheater

  • So….story 1, why did the bride have to stand up for the priest to start? As for the mother Me: If you want an invite you will post on social media that this is because of what happened at the wedding the post will contain a picture of a document that is signed by her that says 1. She will be wearing a diaper 2. She will allow herself to be checked for that diaper under the following circumstances 2A before she enters 2B If she leaves the area and everybody loses sight of her 3. She understands that if either of the follow happens she will be forced to leave the wedding 3A She refuses the check 3B She is found to not be wearing the diaper Story 2: I really feel for him, as a person who got divorced because of an affair I know exactly what he is going through and I agree with the YouTuber, it will take time, patience and lots of communication Story 3: Yep, talk about a hypocrite

  • Actually, I would love wearing the dress Kyle and Mary designed. It looks rather beautiful in my eyes. I have no idea what I would do about the hairstyle, I have had short hair since I’m 9. And make up is not a problem, I have never used any cosmetics anyways and I don’t think I will. You don’t like the style? Simply don’t come and tell about this politely.

  • Last story, the wife sounds like a selfish b. She expected him to stand by her when she was depressed, but she couldn’t stand by him. I think men need to start dumping depressed women. Look at the way things are. Women are told from a young age to hate men. They are encouraged to get divorced so they can live on alomony. They are constantly told men are worthless. I wonder why men are scared to show emotion. One sign of weakness and the womans gone.

  • Last story: Mr. Excuses needs to realize his marriage is not going to survive his refusing to do anything about his depression. Oh, yes, let’s blame your upbringing, let’s imagine how it would go with some counsellor you’ve never met and dismiss it out of hand. Let’s keep eating junk food and blaming it on “chemical needs.” Let’s not be the husband and father you purport to want to be and wonder what your wife’s problem is. Let’s have her be the only worker while you sit around perusal TV most of the day. Mr. Excuses needs to take his wife’s advice and get professional help before she kicks him and the marriage to the curb.

  • 1:20 …that actually sounds kinda nice! I mean, combat boots instead of heels? That sounds way better, IMO, but then again, I’m biased. And if that mother tried to go anywhere near a bloody social function ever again, I would give her a pack of pampers just in case. She gonna act like a toddler? Imma give her the stuff toddler needs, like bloody diapers. Seriously, what the hell was that woman’s damage? She couldn’t handle one day being someone else’s way, to the point she shit herself out of spite. That poor married couple, I hope they could have a nice honeymoon and marriage. :<

  • That last story? I have to completely disagree with you @amithejerk. There’s a difference between being depressed and seeking support and being depressed and deciding to not do anything to improve the situation. They have been married for 8 years, OP does not make it clear how long the wife’s depression was vs his, if she had a hard time over 3 months whereas his were 3 years it would be a HUGE difference. I genuinely believe that’s why he left that information out. It seems like his wife has made multiple attempts to communicate that she wants him to seek professional help, and it’s only when he now has to make an effort, move out, and seek custody arrangements that he wants to fix things, but he never tried to fix things before when it was hard on her. ALSO, friends, family, and partners are NOT health professionals with the skills to deal with suicidal thoughts and depression. He mentioned “I do not want to leave my wife without a father”. Expecting your wife to be the sole support system for your mental health is completely unfair when it seems that her own wellbeing is enough to handle as it is. I’m sick of partners relying on each other. Antidepressants are incredibly effective and the fact the OP isn’t even on ANYTHING despite his suicidal ideation and depression is just baffling to me. This is what the mental health system is FOR. I’m sick of men believing that their partners “should be there for them” when they won’t be there for themselves. OP deserves to get better, he deserves a good marriage, he deserves a relationship with his son.

  • 9:49 I was gonna comment on the wedding choices and just, no it doesn’t need to be said The mom’s entire behavior is horrific, the smell is probably unworldly cause she’s obviously from a completely different world thinking she could get away with doing that. NOT TO MENTION the comments she made while being escorted down the aisle and the big one she shot at the bride The wedding is how the bride wanted it, I’m glad the bride and her husband are living happily.

  • To the first story, what the hell are they one year Olds. Who cares about what the mother and sister think,it’s not their wedding. As for the second story, sorry to say this but he needs to confront her and cancel the wedding, because this is unacceptable behavior its toxic concocting a break just to have an excuse to cheat

  • A story from me when u was 6 or 7 I had girl,in my neighborhood who my mom did NOT. Like one day we were playing outside until she started trash talking my cousin I heard what was happening and started defending her trash talker her back her sister just stood there in a face of disgust timra baby d(her nick name) and Amira the one who trash talked my cousin she had a fit and said to take this out front so we stared fighting she was walking away that’s when I yelll “that’s why your momma dead!” She started yelling”my mom is not dead” she had a FIT. Her and her sister tried tp jump me then I bit her arm when I got back inside I told my mom about what happened she wasn’t mad and me she just hated the girl even more their grandma had the girls come to our door to apologize All of them were ugly crying I didn’t forgive them I’m 8 now and still not afraid to bite back.

  • That military wedding in Story 1 looks fine to me, but what do I know? I’m an asexual man who isn’t really all that interested in finding someone to love, not even as Lewis Capaldi tries to convince me whenever I listen to his song. By the way, NOBODY has mentioned that he looks like Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and that just makes me disappointed

  • To present herself in that unebriated state only sets the true fact that she is overly alcoholic, drinking all day long to finally end drinking whisky… 🙄 Maybe she didn’t want to be seen sloshed but as its a medical disease needs to be treated by psychologists and meds; other thing that its a prove of her addiction is the poop smell, as its impregnated with alcohol thats the reason of the terrible and insane odor, this wasn’t a one life broke down, surely shes carrying some other meltdowns on her back due to her alcohol addiction

  • story number 3. I think u/w0mbatina but it the best \r \r”She had been pushing me to see a psychologist and talk about stuff to get a hold of the depression and possibly to go on anti-depressants.”\r \r \r \r ”But I can’t help but feel like she’s been lying to me for months that everything was fine, if she had broached this before it wouldn’t have gotten this out of hand.”\r \r She has been telling you this. You just weren’t listening.

  • Story 2: honestly there is not any fixing that. Get an annulment and be done with it. A break occurred (red flag number 1), she talked to some other guy behind your back (red flag number 2), and didnt want to tell due to how OP would perceive her (red flag number 3). Three strikes right there. The relationship is not worth saving. ——- Story 3: soooo unpopular opinion but no one has the obligation to stay with someone if they are depressed, have anxiety, etc. these issues cannot be fixed by the outside party and only can be fixed when the individual wants it. Now does this make it right? No. Does it make the OP’s SO a bitch? No. What does make her a bitch is that she is not giving the same energy he gave when she was in his shoes. That is a dick move. In that situation she should have tried to make it work. That said, tbh, if I was OP i would just leave her. It is not worth his mental health to try and work things out with her.

  • You know what that woman is wrong in the 1 st and second story to those guy those people dont deserve your kind heart and I had a cousin with depression he got married andc2 hours after the wedding the wide was doing it with guess who my older brother I was in the military at the time and I was the only one who knew about this so what I did I went to my cousins house and told him he was heart broken he is now happy without the woman and I’m happy t because my brother was slapped so hard my me it left a dent and he had to have surgery

  • In the first story, was the mom entitled? I wasn’t sure because OP don’t mention if their mom was entitled or not. 😂 The minute the mom started acting annoying, why didn’t Mary say “Ok, don’t be part of the wedding party.” And then ask someone else. Nobody is obligated to be part of the wedding party. That part of the story makes no sense to me. I actually don’t think she pooped herself on purpose. I think she did it because she was wasted and had no control over her bowels. But no wanting to admit that, which is even more embarrassing than “making a statement”, she doesn’t say that. The mom doesn’t sound entitled, she just sounds crazy.

  • This guy with depression sounds like he’s only telling his part and there’s a lot more to the story. He reminds me of the father of an ex of mine. He would always play the victim role, he would always talk about what he deserved, he would always remind people of what happened to him, the sacrifices he had made. All the while he never mentioned what a pain in the ass he was all the time, always complaining and being the victim, this story was told by somebody exactly like him. He refused to get serious help, then when it’s too late he starts promising he will do it, note it’s in the future, as it probably has been for a long time. I think he is the asshole, not telling the whole story, playing the victim, fuck people like this. They do a lot of damage to their family, I hope she gets rid of him for good. These people never grow up. I’ve suffered from depression and have had a year of constant back pain, so I’m sympathetic to that. I did try all I could and I understand that sometimes you just feel done and exhausted, he on the other hand didn’t even want to talk about a therapist or medication. Explaining why he thinks it’s not for him as if that’s a valid excuse for not trying. This is also typical for that type of person, they mention two things and then give a bad excuse for one of the things and pretend that explains everything. He hasn’t tried seeing a therapist and has no excuse for not considering medication. He keeps going for his family, through all the suffering, that’s his victim role again.

  • On the one about the wife wanting to leave the marriage because of the dudes depression. It’s important to consider it can’t be looked at like a transaction, just because one person can stick with someone through a rough time it doesn’t mean it’s healthy the other way around. Also just doesn’t sound like the dude is making any effort I don’t blame the wife for feeling alone and abandoned because quite frankly the dude isn’t trying to help himself at all. I’ve got depression and it’s impossible to be with someone who doesn’t want to be better and the guy wasn’t even trying for months until the deal was done. I do think the wife should’ve communicated better but in that situation can you really just tell your spouse you’re losing love for them cause of their depression? Sounds like she held on to the relationship as best she could while urging him to better himself and he didn’t bother trying until it was too late.

  • In that first story to be fair entitled or not the mother was right to criticize how ugly the theme of the wedding was and having to wear a ugly hairstyle and dress. Not to mention the fact that a man was marrying a cripple? Ugh that is terrible. She did however take it too far though in trying to get attention however.

  • I disagree with you on the last post. She tried to get him to get help. She got help. Is it fair to continue a marriage with someone who is destroying your own mental health and happiness? It sucks that there’s a kid involved but what happens when both parents have mental health problems at the same time? I divorced my husband because we were both depressed and our emotions were feeding off each other. She’s tried to help him. He’d given up until she couldn’t take it anymore. He’s acting the victim and while I feel sorry for him. Too little, too late does seem to be the case.

  • So glad you’re okay and you got to have your wedding! And thank you for being a voice for the immunocompromised. I was sick for about a month before my wedding (nothing too serious but I’m immunocompromised so we never know). My doctor finally got serious with my meds when I burst out crying and said “but I’m getting married this weekend!”. I made it through too and that was 13 years ago. Bless his heart he still takes care of me everytime I go down. ❤️

  • I’m sorry for your experience, but I’m glad you’re better! On another note, thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for sharing the harsh realities of Healthcare. And as a fellow RN (hey, Maggie… what’s up?) thank you for sharing the difficulties we are still facing in nursing with staffing and patient placement. It is a challenge that is slowly getting better. Congratulations on the wedding!

  • Oh my god! Every time I thought you were done, it just got worse!! That is such a high stress situation. Also, when I was first diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 18 I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. Thank GOD they let me stay in the children’s hospital because I was newly 18. At least there was a little common area/play room you could go to during the day. You really do start snapping at everyone, you’re losing it a little bit because you’re just stuck in a room and can’t go anywhere, and they also wake you up to take your vitals throughout the whole night. It really is terrifying how our healthcare system in this country is going. My mother was in the ER a couple of years ago, and I felt like I was in a war zone in a movie. My grandmother passed last May. She was only 71 years old, and our main focus was just get her out of this hospital so she can die at home. She spent so much time in hospitals and HATED them. God bless the people who work in these places because honestly, I don’t think I could handle it.

  • Zach- as someone who works in a hospital thank you for calling this experience out. It’s so exhausting working in that environment and trying to provide the best patient care you can, while knowing you can’t always do enough. This is why the try guys are the best! Glad it all worked out in the end 💚

  • This nurse loves a wound photo! So sorry to hear about the Cdiff but glad to hear that you are on the mend (eventually) Thank you for shedding light on the post-covid hospital situation. We have exactly the same problems over the pond and so many people don’t seem to understand the pressure we’re under every single day just trying to house everybody safely, let alone treating them.

  • I had sepsis from a staph infection at 2 weeks old, spent a month and a half in hospital and I still have complications 25 years later. Thanks post sepsis syndrome. And I’m one of the lucky ones, some of us lose limbs and some of us don’t survive. As a sepsis survivor, the visceral fear I felt for you was so real. When you mentioned fever, chills and your heart rate my stomach dropped. All I could think was “oh shit please no” as I waited impatiently for this end of the article where I could finally exhale. Honestly, the best part of my survivorship is hearing how other people have managed to dodge that bullet. I’m so glad you’ve managed to heal in time and make it to your wedding. All the best to you and Maggie in the future!

  • Maggie is like the sweetest, kindest, most generous person on this planet♥I’d expect nothing less than your most loved one/spouse/fiancé/partner to stick by your side through times like this, but unfortunately for many people that’s not the case and they aren’t so lucky. Health complications can & will split people up pretty often, it’s a huge stressor on a relationship, but if the 2 can get through it it truly brings you so much closer to know you can overcome huge hurdles together. Just completely warms my heart how attentive and caring she is. Also hearing Zack discuss the hospital overcrowding & red alert was just so sad…and knowing Maggie is one of those nurses who had to deal with the initial COVID outbreak and even the current hospital situations, she is just such an angel for that as well…I can only imagine how difficult that must be on someone and in my opinion she is such a trooper. So much love for her, and so much love for these 2 as a couple♥ Can’t wait to see the rest!

  • As someone who is also chronically ill and in perma-pain, can I just say how amazing Zach is for being so open and honest and so darn fun about it all? All of us who deal with chronic anything know how hard it is to stay positive, and Zach is just such a sweet example of how to find the fun and funny parts of being a biological dumpster fire 😂 love you Zach!!! Edit- also done the C-Diff thing! Sir, you deserve an award. Of all the health issues I’ve experienced, c-diff is one of the few I put in the category of “I wouldn’t wish this on Satan himself”.

  • As a doctor working at UCLA this was so informative to see the patient perspective. I have to tell my patients waiting in the ER all the time that I can’t imagine how incredibly frustrating it is to be boarding in the hallways, but we are frustrated too. All the doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospital are just doing our best to care for our patients, but the system is indeed broken. Congrats to you and Maggie!

  • My husband also was hospitalized 3 weeks before our wedding, roughly a year ago! Turns out he’s got a weird autoimmune blood disorder and we had to last minute ask everyone their vax status and uninvite a few people so they wouldn’t accidentally unalive him while he was on MAJOR immunosuppressive meds. He had to wear a mask as soon as pictures were done. Kudos to Maggie for being a rock star, and congrats on the wedding!!!

  • Zach so sorry about the hospital experience. I work as a chaplain in a hospital in Seattle and we too are over full and understaffed. We are closing wings of the hospital because we don’t have enough nurses to care for patients. While life was hard during the pandemic, this current state of medical care is more difficult for the hospital staff than ever. Thank you for telling people about this problem. But most importantly, congratulations on you wedding and may you have a long and wonderful marriage! And please continue to love and support Maggie as she faces life as a healthcare worker.

  • My mom was a nurse and retired end of 2020, and yeah they had to turn away so many patients. Emergencies coming through they’d handle as best as they could but they’d offload people to other hospitals if they could. She served the public for 31 years at a level 1 trauma hospital run by the government. Jump to 2022, she’s got post Covid issues, continuing to this day in 2023. The health care system keeps putting her debilitating pain off for weeks for tests, she’s dropped 30 pounds and didn’t have 30 pounds to lose. She waits days to hear back from insurance, claims being denied and having to fight for them. She can barely function, and her PCP asked “is this maybe anxiety? It might all be cured by talking to a therapist.” The system has failed her time and time again. I’m glad your team helped you however they can, just needed to say something when you mentioned insurance.

  • Just when I thought I couldn’t love you two more, you release this article. I am so so happy you are okay! And I am so sorry you had to deal with such a terrible and painful event! Both emotionally painful and physically. You are so brave and strong for going through this, you and Maggie both! I’m so happy for the two of you. Congratulations!! You two deserved the best wedding ever!

  • so i am getting married in under three months and this week i found out i have a tumor that can’t be removed until after, and i’ve been so stressed about something going wrong between now and then and the wedding being ruined, but this article made me feel a lot better — like no matter what happens health-wise, you can still have a really special day 🤍 thank you for sharing your story Zach!

  • When you said infection in your foot I instantly started praying you didn’t get c-diff. Thank you so much for sharing your story!! ❤❤ I appreciate it so much as someone who has been in a similar situation. Quick story no one will probably ask for and this is my first time sharing outside of family and immediate friends – About 3 months into me and my boyfriend (now husband of 2.5 years ❤) dating I got a rub on the back of my foot during a funeral from wearing a terrible pair of flats. No big deal. I put a bandaid and cream on it, but it never seemed to get better. Fast forward 3 weeks after the initial rub and I’m unable to walk upstairs my foot hurts so bad I go to the doctor for them to tell me I have a terrible infection but it’s not anything hospital worthy so I get 3 different types of antibiotics prescribed and take them for 2 days before hitting all the side effects on the chart (outside of death) for one of them. I go to the ER and they do a C-diff test and within 5 minutes tell me it’s negative and to go home. This is about a year before COVID and the ER was slammed so they sent me home since “nothing was wrong” and I took a follow up appointment the next week. My primary care did another cdiff test which came back positive the next day and called me on my way home to tell me and instead of saying go to the hospital he told me just to go home and stay quarantined so I wouldn’t be a burden on the hospital or potentially catch something else. My mom picked up and brought me the medicine keeping distance since it’s contagious.

  • Zach…your articles always kill it i think the last little one in this style you did of these blew me away and this one just surpassed it thank you humor, vulnerability, and aspects of social justice. The tryguys have truly taken a situation and made lemons yall are more authentic real and relatable than ever despite your major success !! Been here since fall 2017 during the buzzfeed 2nd try pause and was so scared y’all broke up. Thank you for getting me through some of my hardest times and at times being the thing i looked forward too🤍

  • The American health system sounds insane. It’s crazy how three doctors tried to dig around for a piece of glass that was close to your nerves, its crazy how they just stabbed the wound with a q-tip, and the fact that they couldnt decide what antibiotic to give you and just gave u all of them resulting in your later infection. It just sounds so irresponsible and terrifying. I don’t know if I would be able to trust the doctors there. Not to mention insurance and the insane medical bill. Glad it all ended well though

  • Was stuck in the hospital during the pandemic restrictions where they weren’t letting in ANY visitors. Let’s just say that I only survived by sleeping during the day and perusal every single Marvel movie they had available on demand. When the last day came around and I still wasn’t checked out by like 10pm I was basically in tears from wanting to just leave and see my family. Also, completely understand the way they underestimated your case when you go to the ER with a “splinter”. I once got a huge chunk of wood stuck in my foot after walking barefoot on an old dock. At first, they put me in the hallway and gave me some ice to numb the area while a nurse tried to pull it out. After several tries and none being successful at pulling the “splinter” out, they gave me an actual room. The Dr. decided to give me a local anesthetic, which was a problem because I was scared of needles, and cut open my foot which I was none too happy about. They got several nurses to hold me down face down on the bed. And that is the story of how I farted in the face of some poor male nurse while getting a 3 inch piece of wood out of my foot.

  • Being immunocompromised stinks! I was on two immunosuppressants for Myasthenia Gravis when I was admitted to the hospital in August on 2022. While there they found stage 4 lymphoma (double hit DLBCL), I started chemotherapy a week or so later and spent the next three months in and out of the hospital, usually a week at a time. Then late in the evening of November 29th I called 911 and grabbed my still partially packed ER go bag. In the wee hours of 11/30/22 I was admitted to the ICU and put on a ventilator. Catching RSV was the straw the broke the camel’s back, my body just couldn’t take any more. I’m now halfway through month five of being in the hospital. I’ve progressed from not being able to stand up to now walking short distances with a cane, most of the time I use an electric wheelchair my friends helped me buy. (I love it and the freedom it gives me!) It’s hard enough to be in the hospital this long. I can’t even imagine being stuck here and having something as important as a wedding on the horizon, I’d have become the world’s crankiest patient. I’m teary-eyed happy you were out and able to enjoy your celebration. That’s wonderful! No idea yet when I’ll be able to leave the hospital. While I’m here I’m grateful for all the articles that make me smile and laugh. Thank you for that. FYI – One small silver lining of having cancer is that when in the main hospital oncology patients get access to a vastly different menu…and most of the food is really good!
