The Red Wedding is a massacre that occurred during the War of the Five Kings, arranged by Lord Walder Frey as revenge against King Robb Stark, ruling King in the North, for breaking his marriage pact with House Frey. The event took place at the wedding feast of Edmure Tully, Lord of Riverrun, and Roslin Frey at the Twins in 299 AC. The Red Wedding was filmed over five days in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 2012, and was scheduled as the final sequence Madden and Fairley would film.
The event created a massive rift in Westerosi’s history as Lord Walder Frey and House Bolton were involved. The Red Wedding was inspired by historical events in Scotland during the 1400s, and while fans accused Martin of going too far with the scene, the author told Entertainment Weekly that the bloodbath was based on a real dinner that took place.
Edmure Tully, the groom who married Roslin Frey, was taken prisoner after the bedding ceremony and is still alive and still married to Edmure. Patrek Mallister survived the wedding. The episode is centered on the wedding of Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey, one of the most memorable events of the book series, commonly known as The Red Wedding.
In the aftermath of the Red Wedding, various characters from the game, including Robb Catelyn and Talisa Stark, meet Walder Frey. The Red Wedding serves as a consolation prize for Robb, who broke his word to marry one of Lord Frey’s daughters. The event serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of betrayal and the importance of honoring the promises made in life.

Game of Thrones: Season 3. Lothar Frey and Black Walder arrive at Riverrun after Robb offers to renew their alliance, but Black Walder relays that Lord Frey insists that Edmure Tully must immediately marry Roslin, having gone off long engagements after Robb reneged on his own. Edmure initially refuses (partly because he, in contrast to Robb, is not allowed to choose between Lord Freys daughters), but eventually consents after bowing to family pressure, as well as his desire to make amends for his blunder at the Battle of the Fords.4.
Edmure does not meet Roslin until she is unveiled at the wedding. Having seen Walders other daughters, Edmure was shocked and relieved to see Roslin at last. She glances at Robb, who turns to Walder, who gives him a rather sarcastic look. Roslin and Edmure get along quite well until Robb and Walder call for the bedding ceremony, when Roslin is carried off by Frey and Tully attendants to the bridal chamber.1 It is unlikely that Roslin was aware of the plans for the grislier parts of her wedding. During their wedding night, Edmure impregnates Roslin, and she later gives birth to a son – although Edmure remains a captive at the Twins.5.
Which Frey was Arya supposed to marry?
In the books. In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Arya is betrothed to Elmar Frey. The character has been renamed for the television series. Elmar is the twenty-second son of Lord Walder Frey and the fourth born to Lord Walders seventh wife, Annara Farring. Elmar is the older brother of Shirei Frey, the youngest child that Lord Walder had with Annara Farring. He is nine years old.
Elmar encounters Arya several times in Harrenhal and tries to boss her around, while mentioning proudly that he is trueborn son of lord Frey and is going to marry a princess – both of them are unaware that Arya is that princess. Arya is unimpressed and does not comply to him. After being informed that Robb breached the pact with the Freys, Elmar tells Arya whiningly that his father told him he had to marry someone else, or to become a septon. Arya has no sympathy to him.
Elmar appears briefly in the third novel, serving as the cupbearer when Roose Bolton hosts Jaime and Brienne at Harrenhal. Roose tells them that Elmar was to wed Arya Stark, but Lord Frey had no choice but to break the betrothal when Robb betrayed him.

When they finally reach the Twins, Brynden is visibly angered when Walder lightly insults Talisa, but stays himself. During the wedding feast, he drinks heavily and brings up Roose Boltons marriage to Freys granddaughter Walda to further cement their alliance. Roose confides to Brynden and Catelyn that he actually did it since Frey promised him a dowry of silver matching Waldas weight. Brynden briefly goes outside to relieve himself, narrowly escaping the massacre that follows shortly after and claims the lives of Robb, Catelyn, Talisa and all of their Northern allies; the Blackfish either sneaked away or fought his way through the chaos to escape the Twins.8.
Roose Bolton and Walder Frey later discover that the Blackfish escaped. Though Frey is undisturbed, Roose is visibly concerned that Brynden will reach the safety of Riverrun before he is found.9.
Game of Thrones: Season 6. Petyr Baelish informs Sansa Stark that Brynden has reunited the remnants of the Tully army and successfully taken back Riverrun from House Frey, and he advises her to seek her uncle out for help retaking the North. Heeding this advice, Sansa sends Brienne of Tarth to meet with Brynden.10.

Who was Robb Stark’s wife in Red Wedding?
Queen Talisa Stark, née Maegyr, was a healer on the battlefields of the Westerlands, where she met the King in the North, Robb Stark, fell in love with him, and eventually married him. She was killed at the Red Wedding.
Biography. Background. Talisa was born in the Free City of Volantis, the oldest and largest of the Free Cities.3.
When Talisa was 12, her parents went to a wedding and left her with her younger brother. They and other children went for a swim in the River Rhoyne. While she was distracted, her brother drowned. Talisa and her friend pulled him to the shore, but he was dead. Suddenly, a slave came and pushed her away (had she reported him, it would have meant death for the slave for touching a noble), then performed CPR until her brother was revived. Talisa was so inspired by the slaves selfless act, that she decided two things: first, that when she came of age, she would not waste her years dancing with other nobles; second, she would never live in a place where slavery was legal again. To this end, she sought and obtained medical training (rather than dancing with other nobles) and relocated to Westeros, where slavery is outlawed.3.

one of the main reasons why I loved the show. deaths were unpredictable. just in the same way peaky blinders was, main characters were dying left and right. in one way it was a good thing because it always kept you guessing and it wasn’t boring, but it was also bad because you didn’t want to root for anyone or get attached to a character because you never knew if they would be there for long.
I feel like one of the reasons he broke up scenes by pausing so many times making jokes about the arrows is because he’s genuinely about to cry. If you’ve listened to the commentary he did on this scene perusal it with Michelle and Dave nutter you would know there’s nothing funny about it to them. I know he’s there to do things like extra info and pause and talk but the exact moments he chose to pause on are the ones he kind of lost it over in the commentary. He’s the cutest
