How to style a bridal tiara?
Old tradition: Tiaras are only for brides and married women. This is because tiaras come from classical antiquity. They were seen as the emblem of love. Placement: If you wear one, place it correctly. Put your thumb on your chin and your index finger on your eyebrows. Move your thumb up to where your finger was. Your index finger should be touching the base of the tiara in your hair. Don’t put it on more than an inch and a half from your hairline. Put it on last. Put on your tiara after you’ve finished hair lacquer. A dull, sticky tiara is no good. Not you. Shapes: A pointy tiara will make a long face look longer. If you have a round face, a rounded tiara will make it look more round. Get a tiara that contrasts with your face shape for an A-star. Hairstyle: A tiara worn with messy hair looks like you don’t care. Very bohemian. People will notice. If you must wear your hair down, pull the sides back over the ends of the tiara. Don’t wash your hair. Don’t wash your hair before wearing a tiara. Day-old hair will grip better. With tiaras, as with many things, grip is key. Securing: If you’re planning on dancing, you’ll need extra help. Use thread or bobby pins to sew your tiara into your chignon. Don’t attach it to your veil. The weight of the veil will pull your crown back, and you’ll take it off sooner than you want.

Only by where are you going I’m ask what can I make very don’t stress the bride for things like that good night guys good.
Used to listen to the ‘Basher’ album in the car with the kids on long vacation drives. When they were little, my girls used to say “Daddy, will you dance with me at my wedding to “I Knew the Bride”? Of course I said yes. So fast forward to wedding day (1 down, 1 to go) and she and I did our Father/Daughter dance to “I Knew the Bride”… 5 months later, my kids took me to a Nick Lowe/Los StraightJackets concert at a small intimate club, and when they played this song, my daughter came up with me to the front of the stage and we danced together again… with Nick looking down and laughing with us…. such fun.
Nick Lowe is a real funny guy. Met him in the late 80’s in Austin during a recording project. He had no clue what I was referring to when I said he reminded me of clean cut Mr. Darling. He never saw The Andy Griffith Show! Once he figured it out he got a big kick out of it. Great producer too, good ear.
Wasn’t much “secret” about THAT smile, huh? 🤩 I love how so many articles from the 80’s were so literal, acting out the lyrics (her dad buying them a lover’s nest, etc.). These little quick vignettes of actors doing exactly what the lyrics are singing. You saw that a lot in the early days of MTV, before directors/bands knew what to do. Not everyone had Duran Duran budgets to fly to Sri Lanka with a film crew and play around with elephants and walk on beaches and in temples, so it was kept very “by the numbers”. I love this song. I bought the 45 after seeing the article.
This is an awesome song, I bought the 12″ vinyl in 1984. The Bass, the Drums and the cheeky keyboards plus of course the lyrics makes this a fantastic piece of art by great people that I as a Drummer admire greatly. Nick Lowe is also a brilliant record producer, I think he was the in-house producer at STIFF Records. I’m fairly certain he was the Bass player in the band Rockpile with Dave Edmunds.
Great song makes me remember that the past and present 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁 life goes on lucky to be around for musicians and singers in the best band around the world and living in the music over the years ago still pumping it out they are so good very different types of life great vibes greeting from Rodney Australia up with the music
Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, Dave Edmunds – thick as rockin’ thieves. Love this song but my favorite is SWITCHBOARD SUSAN. Has one of the greatest lines ever……”when I’m with you girl I get an extension, and I don’t mean Alexander Grham Bell’s invention” – brilliant and hysterical. Of course, it doesn’t get much better for you younger folks than Edmunds “I Hear You Knockin” from the early 70’s which as a teenager locked me in to that nasty groove and made me want to pick up a guitar.
80s music yes and no, just a much needed reminder of music of earlier generations encompassed by a newer generations, which happens all the time, whether it be classical, rock.or “ancient rthymes and modalities”(see Steve Martin’s King Tut for that one) all brought together as popular music for whatever generation. Good music and fun
