When I was in about 5th grade, we had a new music teacher; she was relatively young, but she had a husband. It was their anniversary coming up, so her husband came to our school, and taught us to sing this song; except the words were “Some students wait a lifetime for a moment like this, some students wait forever for a teacher like this, oh I can’t believe it’s happening to us… Some students wait a lifetime for a moment like this”. On the special day, he had her come into the classroom, and we sang it to her; it brought her to tears, sobbing tears. She hugged him, sobbing so much; she was speechless. This is her favorite song; and there we were, helping her husband make it even more memorable. I will never forget that moment; some students wait a lifetime, for a moment like this.
I could listen to ANY of Leona’s songs any time, any place. I find her so easy and comforting to listen to it feels like I get to wrap myself in the calmness and emotion she feels with every verse. Personally, I feel that next to Jonathan Antoine that Leona was the most significant performer to come out of the U.K. Armada of singing competitions. And Leona is the whole package…spectacular beauty, incredible voice and she connects with each and every song that she performs. Some music lovers wait a lifetime for a singer like this!

I LOVE LOVE them both…. And I think Kelly’s upper register is stronger/healthier, especially in recent years. I’m gonna go see Kelly LIVE this year. OMG I am soooo excited!!!! BUT, for this particular song, I think Leona wins. Her voice is more well controlled and… I wanna say elegant. Her voice is emotional, yet not overwhelming. Kelly’s version is more like a shouting of ” Oh I won I won i’m so excited OMG” from a young girl. It was sincere, cute in a very candid way. Leona’s version is a lady full of class telling you a story of “I won this thing. And it was the best thing ever. I feel so blessed.” Once again, love them both a lot… But call me pretentious, for this song I have to root for Leona’s more composed rendition.
