He has to do it because he’s the heir to the throne. Aunt Tilly arrives in a formal gown with wings on her back. She uses a wand to make them appear and disappear. Tilly tells Sofia and Amber the wand will be used for a special surprise at the end because she wants the wedding to be special. Baileywick calls them for the Royal Wedding portrait. Before they leave, Tilly asks Sofia to be her maid of honor. Sofia says yes and is told to keep the wand until Tilly gives her the signal at the end of the ceremony. At the castle, Sofia, Amber, James, Queen Miranda, King Roland, and his mother and sister are in the throne room for the portrait. The adults stand in the back, and the children stand in the front, with James in the middle. The Grand Queen says Amber should stand in James’s spot. Roland is confused because he always thought the firstborn son was the heir to the throne. His mother and older sister tell him it’s the firstborn child. Amber is seven minutes older than her twin brother, so she is the true heir to the throne. Roland doesn’t understand, so Grandma takes the family to the castle library and shows them the book with the laws in it. The kingdom will be ruled by the firstborn child. Roland is confused because his sister Tilly should have been queen. Tilly says she was the rightful heir to the throne and was offered the crown, but she refused. She wanted to be an adventurer and knew Roland would be a better ruler. Roland is confused because no one told him. His mother says he always wanted to be king. Tilly adds that they knew he would be a great king. Amber is happy to be Queen, while James is angry. He says Amber is too selfish to be a good Queen and storms out.

Princess Amber is my favorite character in this show. She is pretty, charming, talented and interesting. She also has a great talent of riding flying horse because she can ride well by practicing only one day! Besides, she is the most complicated and developed character in this show. She may not perfect, but she always tries to make her better and better, just like a real person! PS: I like she said ” I will do it for daddy, and a little bit for James, but mostly for daddy!”, she is very cute.
no hate to james but i think amber would make a better ruler. james would do better as a knight. this whole episode really showed how much amber matured as a princess going from spoiled and bratty to responsible and mature. james literally tried to sabotage amber and show that she wouldn’t make a good queen, but unlike james, she liked the boring stuff. so in conclusion, don’t attack me for this, but amber would make a better queen.
if they make a new show with a time skip where the amulet is passed down, that would be cool. probably a child of sofia or amber. sofia would play a role similar to tilly, a teacher of the new main character. the secret library could be more elaborated on, and new disney princesses that haven’t been shown in the first series could appear to the new main character, starting with elsa, anna, and pocahontas because they were only referenced and not shown in the original series.
I’ve always felt amber would be a better ruler, James likes action and violence too much so being a knight literally was meant for him, plus amber actually likes all the supposed boring stuff that comes with being a ruler and she usually tries her best when she’s devoted to stuff, plus she’s always been the smartest sibling and she genuinely loves the ppl of enchancia not to mention the character development she’s had from just being a spoilt mean girl
Hated Amber at first but after perusal the other episodes she’s not that bad at all. She’s fun, playful, kind, caring, brave, best singer of the show and the perfect queen Amber’s really grown alot. Her love for the family shows in every episode and the love the sisters have for eachother is the most beautiful sister love ever. Right from the first episode i loved Amber’s and Sofia’s sister love Amber hated Sofia at first and been really mean but that was only cause she felt alone and was jealous of Sofia so she ruind her school day but in the end she helped Sofia with the spell and did the right thing Amber is truly a very kind and brave sister love her❤️❤️
Raymond and Amber really are alike, both truly wanted to rule. James and Tilly are alike, even if James doesn’t realize it, he and Tilly wanted something else. Even if Amber wasn’t born first, She would still be a better queen, than James would, king. James saw the power of being king. Amber saw the responsibility of being queen. Edit- In James’ defense he just found out what he thought his role was for his entire life isn’t his, it’s like everything he ever knew is wrong. Why is nobody seeing that? It doesn’t make what James did in this episode okay at all but at least try to see why he’s acting the way he did. Maybe being a second born royal is hard, if you’re not going to be king or queen, what is your job once you no longer are the prince or princess? How will you be known? Probably just as the king’s/queen’s sister/brother. Of course, by the end of this episode, he decides to be a knight(who didn’t see that coming with all of the episodes on James preparing to be a junior knight, squire, and then this?)
