I can totally understand her. As soon as I told people that I wanted a blush pink dress and everyone was hating on me and was telling me it had to be white. I said it my WEDDING. They just wouldn’t leave me alone. So I got tired of everyone trying to control me, so… just didn’t invite them. 😊 I had a small wedding with only my best friend and his two best friends. It was drama free and intimate. ✨️
WOOOW this episode was a roller coaster for me. Her mom is EXACTLY like my mom, even culturally (shout out to Caribbean moms lol). A lot of people may call her narcissistic; and it’s true that so many of the traits are there, and in my case unfortunately there were a lot of challenges growing up. But I am my mom’s whole life, and since the day I was born her entire life has been about me. That moment her mom realized what she had said was so hurtful and that she was crushing her daughter brought me to tears, remembering all the times my mom verbally stabbed me in the heart and then regretted it. She has the sharpest tongue I know, but she also has a really big heart, and she’s worked really hard to reconcile the two.
The first black dress was AWESOME on her, better than the second. Her tattoos just added to look, and the cut of it really helped make the chest tattoo pop! I don’t know what her sisters were thinking, it wasn’t a “dead bride” look. It was a goth punk look which really suited her and her loud, bombastic personality! Honestly she didn’t need to try on any others, she was on fire with that first one!
The first dress was absolutely beautiful. I liked how she stated what she wanted and didn’t let her entourage tell her what to get. I feel bad that she didn’t continue to stand her ground by telling them that the wedding dress is her choice. Not only that, the dress she ended up with did look good on her, but you can tell the black dress was what her heart wanted. Once again, a bride on this show gets controlled by their entourage.

This show has taught me something very important… As the bride the one thing you shouldn’t do is compromise on the dress you love. I was choosing between a dress that was $100.00 less than the dress that I absolutely am in love with and a somewhat similar dress. I decided that it’s not worth cutting off that $100.00 not to be absolutely in love with my dress. The other thing is always knew that I didn’t want to be married in a white dress. I have chosen a dress that is actually my wedding colors of black and dark purple that is a trumpet style dress with a beautiful train. This will actually be my second wedding and my 3 boys (25,24,and 23 years old) will be walking me down the aisle. There was a couple of things that I was willing to cut down on like a much simpler bouquet as well as doing my own hair and makeup (I am not a professional hairstylist it mua). I am pretty decent with my own makeup and hair skills and of course I have plenty of time to practice with the look that I want for that day. To anyone getting married congratulations and as I tell myself throughout this process of planning just remember to breathe. 💜🖤
Every family reunion with my latino family is totally like this, the shouting, the dark humour, the crying, the threats! It’s definitely not for relatives with shy or introverted personalities. I have to say as much as I love that side of my family more than any other because they do genuinely love me for me, you constantly have to fight to be your own person. If you’re blood there is a sense that the relatives own you and get to choose things on your behalf. But happily in my family, when you stand by your choices you receive even more love and admiration. My glamma said ‘If you can’t stand up to your family you can’t stand up to the world because the world won’t be kind to you if you are weak, but family will love you and treasure you no matter what you are.’
When the mum said “the day I die you’ll regret this”, you could literally see the change of the girls face. She looked like she was about to cry it broke me. As a fellow latina who has had to deal with someone like the mum, its hard when you care for someone who says horrible things to get you to do what they want without thinking. We know its a toxic thing, but its sadly normal in our culture.

Rare to see this kind of relationship between parents and their kid nowadays, I mean their bond.. Both have a really strong character but love between them is strong too. Some child really don’t even care to compromise with what their parent’s feel nowadays. I have seen parents broke in tears while hiding because of how harsh their children to them despite all the hardship they face raising them. Seeing these 2 willing to compromise with each other, is such a love. Oh, make me miss my mom❤
I feel that the black dress suits her more anyway tbh. It’s really pretty, and it was painful seeing the mom be so harsh. I side with the daughter for this. It’s her wedding, and she should decide how she looks on her happy day. Of course, if the mom is helping pay for it, then she does deserve an opinion since it’s her money, but overall it’s the bride’s choice.

People with a bunch of tattoos like that actually look better in black. A white princess dress with dark tattoos clashes too much. Edit: to people saying the white would’ve worked just as well, obviously it’s a matter of opinion. She has dark hair and many dark tattoos so therefore I think the black works better and suits her more. It is much more her vibe and it should be about what she wants or feels comfortable in. I do not think she looks as good in white as she does in the black..but that’s not to say she looks bad in white.

I think her mum loves her with all her heart but she hasn’t really accepted her “black side” and tattoos. That is why she wants a white and long sleeves wedding gown for her. But she has finally accepted that she has to embrace every aspect of her daughter personality and allow her to choose a dress that would make her happy.
I’m a second generation immigrant so I know exactly how Camilla felt when her mother said the day I die you will remember this. As immigrant children, we are reminded every single day of the sacrifices our parents made in order for us to live happily in America. The guilt of not obeying them is so great that we’re willing to give up our dreams for them. Even something as important as our wedding day. But eventually, this blind obedience needs to give way. Because as much as our parents lived for us, we have to one day live for ourselves. I know the choice wasn’t Camilla’s this time. But I hope one day she can choose to live for herself. As a wedding dress designer…….I design for brides with tattoos. One of things that brides should seriously consider is matching to the colours in their tattoos. The brides mother sees her daughter as an unblemished virgin she’s not! This is the 21st century and brides are daring to be different…..She’s an independant woman and those white dresses are clashing with the base colur black of her tattoos
In my opinion, I think really the only reason to kind of compromise when it comes to the dress is, if the parent is paying for it. If the bride/the husband is paying for it, then I find no need to compromise. I do hope that she eventually found a dress that she loved for her wedding day. That first black dress was absolutely stunning on her, and really complemented both her aesthetic that she wanted, as well as the tattoos that she has.
