Is Black Veil Brides emo?

Wikipedia says Black Veil Brides is an emo rock band. No more stereotypes. I hate the term “emo” for anything. People often call my rock bands “emo.” This pisses me off. I call my rock music “scene.” My last post explains why I dislike stereotypes. Stereotypes make people narrow-minded. Sorry for the rant. Anyway, back to my point. Alternative rock has a wide range of sounds. I had no idea what to expect from Black Veil Brides. I watched some of their music videos on YouTube. I don’t usually look up music videos. This shows how much I wanted to know about Black Veil Brides. “Heart of Fire” and “In the End” were my first Black Veil Brides songs. I wasn’t expecting such a hard rock sound. Black Veil Brides’ rock sound is very different from Andy Black’s The Shadow Side album. Black Veil Brides is one of the hardest rock bands I listen to. Only my symphonic metal and nu-metal bands come close to this heavy hard rock sound. I like variety in rock subgenres. It took me a few days to get used to Black Veil Brides’ music. The drums, bass, and two electric guitars made a beautiful, complex sound with Andy’s deep voice. This is the perfect combination. My ears loved it. I was hooked.

What is the Black Veil Brides controversy?

People envy those who brag about a party lifestyle. They envy people who are doing what they love for a living. They’re envious when they think one of the members has a record-producer father. Some well-known musicians have made negative comments about the band, including Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch and Phil LaBonte of All That Remains. They say Black Veil Brides are not really metal. Black Veil Brides lyrics deal with heavy metal topics. They appeal to those who feel like outsiders. They like weirdos and tell fans to believe in themselves. I realized my problem with Black Veil Brides has nothing to do with whether they’re metal. They’re clearly metal. The problem is that the band is seen as emo by some old-school metal fans. Their name means a woman who marries into the church gives up all her pleasures to devote herself to God. It’s both good and bad. The combination of dark, heavy music (nowadays deemed as emo) with a rebellious attitude and a younger audience rubs older metalheads the wrong way. The band has changed a lot. Each new record is different. The band’s appearance has also changed. It’s hard to take a young band seriously when they demand respect for their consistent music.

Why isn t Ashley Purdy in Black Veil Brides anymore?

Purdys’s exit came after he spent time in a psychiatric hospital for grief counseling and therapy. “It was bad timing,” says Purdy. “They weren’t related.” “There are legal aspects to what I can say about the departure.” Purdy explains what happened from his perspective, without breaking legal agreements. “Black Veil Brides is a business, and there are legal rules,” he explains. “It’s like a divorce. We’re working it out.”

  • This time they really nailed it. Great song, great article, can’t detect a flaw really. I like how Andy swoops in and gets busy with the intensity at intervals. His facial expressions are very metal too, and he knows exactly how to play to the camera, his performance was impeccable. Congratulations on a job well done and my favorite BVB music article to date.

  • Here I am, your Judas Christ\r And I bleed from the heart that saved your life\r Blurry vision when your eyes are gone\r But I see every word you string along\r Are you the saint that burned the gods of man?\r Hard to stand when no one gives a damn\r Not alone, just not one of them\r Your shadow\r The fight, heaven hasn’t ended\r So I swear that I’ll protect it\r Time is the soldier, keep marching closer\r To fields of bone\r Every word in our final verse\r That we sing to the blessed and, and the cursed\r Hard to picture where we all belong\r And if we have the strength to carry on\r Am I the saint? Take me by the hand\r Hard to trust when no one understands\r You’re alone in the eyes of man\r No shadow\r The fight, heaven hasn’t ended\r So I swear that I’ll protect it\r Time is the soldier, keep marching closer\r To fields of bone\r All the sinners are sent to rest\r All their misery has to end\r The fight, heaven hasn’t ended\r So I swear that I’ll protect it\r Time is the soldier, keep marching closer\r To fields of bone\r Time is the soldier, keep marching closer\r Time is the soldier, keep marching closer

  • I love the dark, theatrical style of this music article. Scarlet Cross was above ground, in the barren streets of a city. Fields of Bone is underground like it’s an anthem for the damned aka the people that have been branded with the Scarlet Cross.❌ Black Veil Brides always deliver magnificent music articles that tell a story. ❤🖤

  • I am a Decade late to this fandom, and I only know Andy and he is the lead Vocalist. And Very late in Joining the BVB army but I am curious and wanting to learn about this Genre. I am not going to lie to you guys and say this was not a big Music genre I listen to in my childhood/ preteens, but this song is absolute fire 🔥. Please be nice 🥺🥺

  • My sister was your biggest fan, she had a seizure in the bath 7months pregnant and drowned Dec 7th 2020. 7 days later my father passed away, a heart attack. Lord I come to listen for my sister sake in the house I’m living in where our last living moments were spent before she had left this unforgiving world.

  • I love this so much! I’ve been listening to BVB since I was 11/12. To see how much they’ve grown and how much their music has evolved is amazing! 🖤 I can’t wait to share their music with my baby boy. From the multiple kicks to the ribs I got while listening to this song, I think he’s a fan. The only other artists he gets this active and excited for are A7X and Rob Zombie. Glad he likes all my favs lol.

  • Today is my birthday. My parents and brother forgot. I got yelled at in the street for no reason. My mom told me I look like a girl (I’m a trans boy). I found out my favorite uncle who I’m very close to only has a week left to live. I was about to go to sleep and just cry, then I got this notification. Thank you bvb. Best birthday present ever XD I love you. xx Edit: I’m so happy to see people freaking out over bvb, waterparks and twenty øne piløts all releasing things at the same time. I’m also happy that all my emo gods, johnnie guilbert, Lonny Eagleton, and so many others are commenting on this and this all just makes me so happy. Thank you. No matter what else happened today, this is the best birthday ever. x

  • Still as talented as when you started. I’m seriously so proud that you haven’t gone to pop. This album seems like it’s gunna deliver, just as powerful as always. Y’all got me through some hard times back in the day. Was 13, now I’m 24. Emo vibes never change and the poetry-like lyrics still give me nostalgia. Been a fan since K&P. 🥺🗡️ So empowering honestly. 🖤

  • “Hard to trust when no one understands” has to be the most angsty emo teen line I’ve heard in a song in years!! Don’t get me wrong I love this song, but I can’t help but giggle knowing loads of teens will find it so relatable and won’t recognise the irony that every other teenage Bvb fan understands because they feel the same lol! Dont be embarrassed kids, a lot of us would have found that line super relatable in our teens too pmsl!

  • I’ve been listening to BVB off and on since 2009 or 2010 when my crush at the time told me about BVB when only their song Knives and Pens was out. I had a childhood crush on some of the members, but happy they are married and are still making music just as well as they have done in the past. I may listen to pop music 95% of the time, but I’m a alternative rock lover at heart. Great music!
