Aisha bint Abi Bakr, the third and youngest wife of Islamic prophet Muhammad, was born around 613/614 AD. Classical sources suggest that she was 6 or 7 years old at the time of her marriage and 9 at the consummation, which has been a source of ideological friction. However, Muhammad Ali, an Ahmadiyya leader, challenged the notion that Aisha was as young as traditional sources claim, arguing that according to the hadith collection Mishkat al-Masabih, Wali-ud-Din Muhammad ibn.
Aisha was the favorite of Prophet Muhammad’s wives and was married when she was six to seven years old. According to tradition, she was the youngest bride when she was nine lunar years old. Assuming she was five years old when Abu Bakr and his family converted to Islam, the information puts the age of Aisha at 20 or more at the time of her marriage with Muhammad in 624AD. Most Islamic historians agree that Asma, the wife of Prophet Muhammad, was the only virgin he married.
Islam’s most trusted sources state that Aisha was indeed only 9 years old when her marriage was consummated with Muhammad. Some Muslims argue that Aisha was real, but it is not the norm at the time. The hadith in Sahih Muslim states that Aisha was a young girl (jariyah) when she was married to Muhammad, and that the marriage took place in the second year of the emigration or “hijrah.”
In conclusion, the age at which Aisha bint Abi Bakr married Muhammad remains a topic of debate among various religious groups. While some argue that Aisha was a young girl, others argue that her age was not as young as was the norm at the time.

How old was Khadija when she married the prophet?
Khadījah was born in the 6th century to merchants of the Quraysh tribe, which ruled Mecca. The Sīrah of ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Hishām says she was “resolute and noble” and respected by the tribe. She inherited her wealth but kept trading after her parents and first two husbands died. She hired Muhammad when he was in his early 20s to manage a caravan to Syria and later offered him marriage. Most sources say she was about 40 with kids from her previous marriages. Muhammad was about 25. This suggests she may have been younger. Khadijah and Muhammad did not have any sons who lived to adulthood. The Sunni sources say they had four daughters. Umm Kulthūm, Ruqayyah, Zaynab, and Fāṭimah. Fāṭimah was their only daughter, and she became an important figure in Islam. Her descendants, the Ahl al-Bayt, have played important social roles to this day.
Khadijah helped Muhammad become a prophet. Her wealth let him think and she told him his first messages were true. She is often seen as the first person to believe in Muhammad’s message. She also talked to her relative Waraqah ibn Nawfal, who said Muhammad’s revelations were like Moses’s. This made Muhammad feel more confident.
How old was Muhammad’s bride?
Let’s start with the sources. The ninth-century Sunni Islam Hadith authority Imam Muhammad bin Ismail al-Bukhari, known as “Sahih al-Bukhari,” says Aisha was 6 when she married Muhammad and 9 when they had sex. Some say this proves Muhammad was a pedophile. Murray’s own view was more nuanced. He wrote, “We should also remember that different norms existed in the past and try to understand them.” “But saying nothing critical of such a person or set of actions is a problem, isn’t it?” Some, like American Muslim scholar Hamza Yusuf, say our modern views of childhood are new. Yusuf says that when people lived shorter lives, it was normal to marry and take on adult responsibilities at a young age. Georgetown professor Jonathan Brown has made similar arguments, which have been criticized. Many Muslim scholars hesitate to challenge the authenticity of the hadith because they don’t want to challenge Bukhari. They believe this could lead to the destruction of a key part of Sunni Islam.
Who was the most beautiful wife of the Prophet?
Her qualities: Juwayriya was very beautiful and refined. Everyone who saw Juwayriya was amazed by her beauty. She was brought up in one of the most important families of the time. She was not only beautiful but also graceful, elegant, and eloquent. When Muhammad’s wife Aisha first saw her, she said she was as beautiful as a fairy.

How many wives did Muhammad have?
Eleven women were married to the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Eleven women were married to the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Muslims use the term Umm al-Muminin (Arabic: أم ٱلْمُؤْمِنِين; meaning Mother of the Believers from Quran 33:61) before or after the names of Muhammads wives as a sign of respect.

Which Prophet married 100 wives in one night?
The ḥadīth about Prophet Sulaymān sleeping with multiple wives in a single night is an example of a contradiction between ḥadīth and logic. It says that Prophet Sulaymān slept with many wives in one night. The ḥadīth is seen as an erotic message and is thought to be a forgery by the scholars who wrote it. This study aims to clarify the problematic allegations, find responses, and compare ideas from Jewish and Christian sources. It suggests that such problematic ḥadīth imply a form of miracle in the tradition. The data comes from nine canonical ḥadīth books, traditional commentaries, Biblical sources, and related articles. The data was analyzed in a descriptive and analytical manner. The study finds that the ḥadīth is a rigorously authenticated ḥadīth because it is included in the canonical works of hadith and corroborated in other traditions. It is also highly established in ḥadīth narrations. The claim that the hadith was fabricated was rejected. The number of wives should be understood as indicating many wives, not just a few. The study shows that the paragraph about a single night refers to the story of the muʿjizāt.

Which wife did Muhammad love the most?
Muslims believe that Khadija bint Khuwaylid was Muhammad’s most beloved wife. Sunni Muslims believe that Aisha was second. There are several hadiths that support this belief. One story says that when a companion asked Muhammad who he loved most, he said Aisha. Others say that Muhammad built Aisha’s apartment so that her door opened into the mosque. They also say that she was the only woman with whom Muhammad received revelations. They bathed in the same water and he prayed while she lay stretched out in front of him. Various traditions reveal the mutual affection between Muhammad and Aisha. He often watched her and her friends play with dolls, and he sometimes joined them. Aisha must have felt equal to and unawed by this prophet of God, because his announcement of a revelation permitting him to enter into marriages disallowed other men made her say, “It seems to me your Lord hastens to satisfy your desire!” Muhammad and Aisha had a close intellectual relationship. Muhammad valued her memory and intelligence and asked his followers to learn from her.
Accusation of adultery. When Muhammad and his followers raided the Banu Mustaliq tribe, he brought Aisha, who was 13. She was carried on a camel. Aisha said that when the raiding party was resting at night on the way home to Medina, she went out to the bathroom. After going to the bathroom, she realized her necklace was missing. She went back to look for it. By the time she found it, the convoy had left. Aisha stayed where she was because she thought they would come back to look for her.
Which Prophet did not marry?
In Judaism, marriage and raising children are holy obligations. Celibacy is not a big part of Judaism. Jeremiah, who chose not to have children, is the only prophet who did not marry. Even in the Bible, there were times when people didn’t have sex. This was connected to rituals, sacrifices, and holy wars. Some members of the Essene sect and the medieval Talmudic scholar Ben Azzai rejected marriage. In the Jewish community, unmarried men cannot be leaders.
Celibacy began in Christianity because of expectations of the apocalypse. The original Christians believed that the kingdom of God was at hand and that marriage would end in the new age. Some followers of Jesus left their families to preach the coming of the kingdom. St. Paul (c. AD 10–c. 67) said that celibacy was good, but that marriage was okay for those who couldn’t be celibate. Some Christian thinkers in the late 1st and early 2nd centuries believed that all Christians should not marry. Some people said that marriage was good and that celibacy was better. Many writers thought marriage was good, but celibacy was better.
At what age did Prophet get married?
Muhammad married Khadija in 595 when he was 25 and she was either 28 or 41. She was his only wife until she died in 619. After Khadija, Muhammad married ten women. Sawdah bint Zamah in 619; Aisha bint Abi Bakr in 623; Hafsa bint Umar, Zaynab bint Khuzayma, and Hind bint Abi Umayya in 625; Zaynab bint Jahsh in 627; Juwayriya bint al-Harith and Ramla bint Abi Sufyan ibn Harb in 628; and Safiyya bint Huyayy and Maymunah bint al-Harith in 629. Muslim scholars disagree about whether Rayhana bint Zayd and Mariya al-Qibtiyya were concubines or wives. All of these women were previously widowed or divorced except for Aisha. Most people believe that Muhammad had seven biological children (three sons and four daughters). All but one of them were born to Khadija between 598 and 611 or 615. Mariya gave Muhammad a son in 630 (his seventh child), but none of his sons lived to adulthood. Muhammad’s life and career are traditionally divided into two periods: before he left Mecca in 622 and after he settled in Medina. Hijrah means that Muhammad and the early Muslims left Mecca and went to Medina because the Meccans were persecuting them. He married twice after moving to Medina.
Goals. Khadija was Muhammads first wife. She was a wealthy woman who supported him financially and emotionally. She also became his first follower when he began preaching Islam. Both her age and marital history at the time of her marriage to the 25-year-old Muhammad are unclear. She was either 28 or 41 and may or may not have been a virgin. This marriage was the most significant. Muhammad had six children with Khadija. They were married for 24 years and remained monogamous. Khadija died in 619. Muhammad was 49 at the time. After moving to Medina, he started having more than one wife. He didn’t have a Medinan wife because they didn’t agree with Islam’s rules about marrying multiple women and limiting inheritance. Muslims can only have four wives at a time, but Muhammad was allowed to have more because he was a prophet. Muhammad’s wives could not remarry after his death. Men were warned not to try to marry these widowed women. This was a major offense in the Quran.
What was the age gap between Muhammad saw and Khadija?
Muhammad married Khadija. Khadija asked a friend named Nafisa to ask Muhammad if he would marry her. When Muhammad said he didn’t have money for a wife, Nafisa asked if he would marry a woman who could support herself. Muhammad agreed to meet with Khadija, and after this meeting, they asked their uncles for advice. Muhammad’s uncles agreed to the marriage and went with him to propose to Khadija. It’s not clear who went with him. Khadija’s uncle accepted the proposal, and they got married. At the time of the marriage, Muhammad was 25 and Khadija was 40. Some sources say she was 28. Muhammad’s father and grandfather died before he reached adulthood, leaving him without money. Muhammad moved into Khadija’s house. Some sources say Muhammad and Khadija had six or eight children. Others say it was seven or eight. Al-Tabari names eight, while Ibn Ishaq names seven. Most sources only identify six. Their first son was Qasim, who died after his third birthday. Hence, Muhammads kunya Abu Qasim. Khadija then had daughters Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Kulthum, and Fatima, and a son, Abd Allah. Abd Allah was called the Good and the Pure. Abdullah also died young.
Why did the prophet marry Zaynab bint Jahsh?
Some traditions and stories have been narrated about verse 37 of Surah Ahzab. One day, the Prophet asked Zayd ibn Harithah, his slave, to do something for him. Zayd went to the Prophet’s home. When he got home, he saw Zaynab, Zayd’s wife. She was beautiful. The Prophet fell in love with Zayd’s wife and wanted to marry her. This study looks at whether this story is true. This research uses the library and descriptive-analytic methods. After reviewing the texts and sources, it is clear that these traditions are not authentic. The source-based shortcoming is the presence of weak narrators in the chain of narrators. Likewise, we have seen Tabein, who could not have been eye-witnesses of this story. These traditions are not compatible with Quran and Prophet’s history. These stories don’t match the infallibility of the Prophet, so they’re rejected.

Thanks for explaining!! But only one thing: a girl who was raped/molested is NOT dirty and guilty!!! Those things only apply to the rapist. And she too can become a powerful, strong woman! Yes, experience such horror can cause tremendous damage. But it doesn’t taka away her dignity and strength. Society, who treats her differently and doesn’t help her overcome the trauma does.
At 6 years old a girl should be with her parents, not with husband. Even the fact that she had to leave her family and move in with a stranger makes me feel sorry for her. Nothing will make me accept the fact that a grown up man had sexual relationship with a little girl. Doesn’t matter if it was accepted back then, it’s still disgusting.
After perusal this article “Here’s what I have learned”\r 1: The Question Why Did Muhammad Marry a 9 year old ? It’s not answered, \r The Answer Mentioned Is Allah Advised Muhammad to do so, just like any other questions been asked.\r 2: You will hear a man screaming in the entire article calling other people foolish who are asking questions.\r 3: A woman who got molested is claimed to be dirty and guilty. I pity these women who have to go through this suffering in this generation. \r 4:There are so many other points…. but seeing the people below commenting and thinking they have “Battled Ignorance” I’m just going to move on with my daily errands. A gentle reminder “please remember to keep your comments respectful.” This speaks volumes of the religion that you come from. This comment doesn’t mean that I am against “Muslim’s” I just want to have a better understanding and not someone yelling in my logical ears :p Peace to you all.
Many say it’s common back in those days but Prophet Muhammad was supposed to be a man of Knowledge and knew what is wrong and Right, so he should have been the first one to correct this ( Marriage to Child) . I bet if he done this, today there would have never been any child marriages to older men in Islam 💯
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.” (John 12:40)\r \r “For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity hidden from My eyes. And first I will repay double for their iniquity and their sin, because they have defiled My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable idols.”\r \r O Lord, my strength and my fortress, My refuge in the day of affliction, The Gentiles shall come to You From the ends of the earth and say, “Surely our fathers have inherited lies, Worthlessness and unprofitable things.” (Jeremiah 16:17-19)\r \r “Now the end has come upon you, And I will send My anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways, And I will repay you for all your abominations. My eye will not spare you, Nor will I have pity; But I will repay your ways, And your abominations will be in your midst; Then you shall know that I am the Lord!” (Ezekiel 7:3-4)\r \r “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”\r \r Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
6:55 that’s dangerously ignorant. I would advice not to judge them as such. There have been people like that who have achieved greatness. And even if some are not, calling them dirty n impure for that is really bad Edit: apparently the speaker himself doesn’t describe the girl as such, he’s saying that’s how the society things about her. It’s just wrong choice of words by the speaker
If this was happened in the 21st century, he would’ve have been thrown into a mental asylum. Let’s imagine another situation, a far less progressed civilization which have a tradition of cannibalism and it’s their normal routine to sacrifice human life for their god. Their whole community can justify their practices what how people from outside like us see them?
I don’t find this a very useful explanation, apart from the way it casts the background quite well(of who Aisha was, her relationship toward the prophet etc), there are still some points who don’t connect and not such a good explanation. Firstly, child marriage is not allowed in Islam according to verse 4:6, which clearly links the age of marriage with emotional maturity AND physical maturity, thus we can conclude that you have to be both physically(which doesn’t happen overnight, puberty takes time) and emotionally mature to be of the age of marriage. While the Quran literally indicates that there is an “age of marriage” when both consenting partners are mature physically and mentally to enter into the legal contract of marriage (4:21), it would be highly unlikely that Prophet Muhammad would go against the standards set in the Quran. Now leave aside if the age of nine is mature enough or not(or if Aisha was exceptionally mature), let’s take a closer look at where this Hadith comes from. This is written nowhere in the Quran so not a single soul can proof this true as Hadiths are written by human beings, who have the capability of making faults, therefore we shouldn’t take everything for true. the age of Hazrat Aisha can be easily calculated from the age of her elder sister Hazrat Asma who was 10 years older than Hazrat Aisha. Waliuddin Muhammad Abdullah Al-Khateeb al Amri Tabrizi the famous author of Mishkath, in his biography of narrators (Asma ur Rijal), writes that Hazrat Asma died in the year 73 Hijri at the age of 100, ten or twelve days after the martyrdom of her son Abdullah Ibn Zubair.
Marriage is a custom between 2 consenting adults..adults marrying children is not right, the child is powerless and cannot because of their age and lack of understanding make an informed decision. This maybe as discused a historic cultural situation, but has no place in the present time and with current legal rights of children, is rightfully illegal.
Marrying kids is sick. Period. I don’t care about the story behind it. Pedophiles are BAD, don’t have kids if this seems normal to you, I’ve seen a article where a 12year-old was being sold by her father to an old man, her father didn’t have money. Women are being treated like objects, that girl was crying. That was the end of her childhood. You all need a therapist, clear your heads of this desase what you call rlgn.
I just don’t understand how Muhammad is supposed to be a prophetic man of knowledge & wisdom, but married a 6 yr old & consummated it at 9 yrs old. He should have known that was wrong being that he was a prophet. The excuses of that was “normal” back then does not apply to him. A lot of stuff was “normal” back then.
and yet theres still ignorant people in these comments saying its wrong…who are you to choose? She chose him herself. Don’t let the society destroy your ego of thinking he’s a “Pedophile”, while in the 1600’s kids underage forcefully married to older men. Remember this was in the 600’s, not 2023. Worry about the future, not the past.
She wasn’t 6 or 9. Historically it’s inaccurate and the Hadith is daeef considering that she was 18-21 years old at the time of her marriage. Also it doesn’t make sense when you consider that the Phrophet Muhammad SAW was looking for a wife to take care of the home and his many children, not really a love marriage. Doesn’t make any sense for a child to take care of other children and do the home tasks. In fact consider this: -Ayesha was born 605 ad -Her marriage to the phrophet was 624 ad – She was orginally engaged to someone else 2 years prior and if you believe in this nonsense of she was 6 or 9 during her marriage, then that would mean she was 4 or 7 during that time-which makes no sense at all. Folks study your HISTORY not just Hadith that may have been altered to politics, the Quran is the truth but hadiths can be inaccurate despite its strong chain.
Assalamu alekum rahmatuallah jazakallahu kheiran for this good words and Supporting and may allah send you bless so unendlesses and i hope we see in al jannah may allah to steps highest gardens give you i pleased allah him gives you a status in dunya so like in akhira may piece in you heart and for all time forgive you sins ya Allah please loves us likes do you haved loved before may allah call out the name from you and may allah the angles loves you allahumma ameen
First point: everyone can say that they are from God and take this as a reason for their actions. That doesn’t justify marriage. For example I can say that everybody should donate me money and buy me a ps5 because God says so. NO! Second Point. You said that it was common during the time of the prophet. By this you proved that his doings and teaching haven’t aged well which comes to the conclusion that he isn’t the best example for mankind because obviously it is pretty disgusting and everybody who is saying that they would let their daughter marry a 53 year old men are pretty sure lying or aren’t meant to be parents. The only reason that could justify it is out of fear.
The assertion that Aisha was 9 comes from a single hadith, this hadith was not subjected to the same scrutiny that most others in the Quran were and was in fact the testimony of only a single man, a man whose other proclamations were called into question due to his advanced age and poor memory. Some facts about Aisha She was born before “The Call” and The Prophet became engaged to her ten years after “the Call” upon the death of his first wife, Khadija. It is stated that her parents were companions of The Prophet before “The Call” and that her father had already promised her to another man previously. This may have happened when she was six. After she was betrothed it was five years before she was married, this is evidenced where it explains she was betrothed two years before the hijra to Medina, which took three years and she was married the year after the hijra took place. Aisha is said to have died at the age of 66 years old at 58 AH, this means at the time of the call she was eight years old. If she was only engaged after the call (even by a year) she must have been nine and as her marriage was three years later she would have been a minimum of 12. However, Aisha’s sister Asma is stated to have been ten years older than Aisha and is listed as being 28 years old in the first year of the call. This makes Aisha 18 years old at the time and then 19 at time of marriage. Clearly these two factors contradict each other, added to the problem is that the Hadith were traditionally passed on verbally and as stated Aisha’s age (unlike legal hadith) was not really a matter for discussion.
Okay, im clearing this up for all. The things they say is all from the hadith if you check the hadith its false and hearsy and the quran says Then in what Hadith (Statement) after it (the Qur’an) will they believe? (77:50) It’s clear that the quran is the truth and all muslims agree and it’s preserved and fully correct, but the sunni shia all ignore this verse. It’s quite easy to tell that we must follow the quran alone. Not only that, they have different ages of Aisha in the hadith. Apparently, if you always look at the hadith talking about the 6 year of age or 9 its always this guy named “Hashim.” In it all the time clearly he must have misunderstood or was a hypocrite who wanted to spread lies. If you do tbe math of Aisha’s sister Asma and the quran revelation and year, you would see that Aisha is around 18 year of age when the prophet married her and would be 21 if he consummated the marriage with her. I know some poeple will want to argue and say “You’re a quranist right? Yk the quran allows it aswell, not hadith only.” Well i can destroy that deabte also.
