Fall weddings are a cozy time of year, with September and October being the top two months for weddings. To create an interactive atmosphere, consider using DIY fall wedding ideas such as a caramel apple bar, lanyard bridesmaids’ shirts, naked cake, leafy aisle, pumpkin card box, sunflower and burlap chair accents, floral-filled barrels, and antler additions.
Fast-inspired bouquets can also be a great way to embrace fall foliage. DIY autumn wedding favors, such as caramel apples, can be a simple and affordable way to add a touch of autumn to your wedding. For a unique guest book, consider using wooden hearts and writing utensils.
Creating a DIY fall centerpiece can add a festive touch to your home décor, such as a white pumpkin, floral tubes, fresh flowers, and a plastic bag. Caramel apple favors can be a hit, and rustic pumpkin carriages, mini pumpkin pie treats, and DIY pumpkin beer buckets can add a rustic touch to your outdoor fall wedding.
Incorporating your sunflower wedding theme from start to end can create a beautiful sunflower chair set-up for an outdoor wedding. These DIY fall wedding ideas are perfect for any style of celebration and can help create a cozy and memorable atmosphere.

How to make fall wedding centerpieces?
Dried flowers in this arrangement add autumn colors to fresh flowers. Deep berry-toned petals, bronze leaves, muted greenery, and lace and copper provide texture and contrast. Ariella Chezar added burgundy leaves to floral centerpieces to tie them back to the more dramatic branch displays. Lynn Easton Events added black candles and neutral votives to the tablescape. On this warm tabletop, small glass bottles held dark pink blooms and orange spray roses from Rogue and Fox Floral Co. The result: A mix of centerpieces that looked simple but still autumnal. Gold candlesticks, burnt orange glassware, and gray napkins—all by Candace Jolee Events—were decorations.
What is the disadvantage of simple wedding?
Small weddings have disadvantages. When you choose a smaller wedding, your guest list is smaller, which can cause problems when family members and friends find out they’re not invited. Parents can also pressure you to include more relatives who invited your family to their weddings, or have a larger cultural wedding when that’s not your choice, creating problems for both sides of the family. Since creating a smaller guest list can be stressful, conflicts can arise between the bride and groom, each of whom may have small or large families or circles of friends they’re having trouble whittling down. Some friends and acquaintances get hurt feelings when the guest list is smaller. During the planning process, friends talk about their more upscale wedding plans at elegant wedding venues, which may make you regret eliminating some of your small wedding details.Fewer guests mean fewer wedding gifts, which may be important to your plans to recoup some of your wedding expenses. Couples who think they can plan a small wedding at home wind up facing higher costs when rentals become necessary, and caterers have long lists of requirements to cook in the home kitchen. Party halls and special event venues make planning an important celebration easier. After the wedding, you may regret not having more guests, more wedding elements, or having a larger venue. You can also renew your vows in a few years at a top catering hall. You’ll be able to afford a better celebration with more guests. This is a popular trend in our northern NJ location. Guests understand that wedding couples have a lot of wedding planning expenses, especially when buying a house or facing school loans. It’s never too late to have the wedding of your dreams. How do you do an outdoor fall wedding?
The fall motif works well with outdoor weddings. Add leaves, apples, and pumpkins to centerpieces. Use lanterns, pinecones, and flowers like sunflowers and dahlias. Drinks like cider, lattes, and mulled wine go well with fall clothes to make a great outdoor wedding. Fall is a great time for creative wedding attire. The season’s colors and feel create opportunities for non-traditional clothing. Long coats, leather boots, patterned sweaters, and high-waisted pants are all possibilities for fall wedding attire. Fall weddings let you mix and match, but you have to be flexible. The weather can change a lot on your wedding day. Plan ahead with layers you can wear or discard based on the weather.

Allow plenty of time and be realistic. Crafting takes time, so don’t think you can make a table runner for 12 tables in one evening or 40 flower-filled jam jars in a week. Start any craft projects early to avoid stress. Be prepared. Make sure you have all the right tools before you start. Set a budget. Don’t spend more on DIY wedding projects than you would on buying or hiring decorations. Set a budget and stick to it. Know your DIY limits. Choose projects you can do. Simple is often more chic than complicated. Get help. Ask friends for help. Ask your bridesmaids or anyone else to help you.
What color to wear to an October wedding?
An all-black cocktail dress is sophisticated for a city venue, but add color for a festive look. Satin feels luxurious, especially in jewel tones. A pretty dress in ruby, amethyst, sapphire, or jade will make your dance moves elegant.
What to wear for a September wedding?
Formal gowns, cocktail dresses, pantsuits, and tuxedos. Formal or Black Tie Optional. Less formal than black tie. No tuxedo required.
What is the least popular month to have a wedding?
What’s the cheapest month to get married? If you want to save money on your wedding date, get married in January, February, or November. These are the least popular months for weddings, so vendors and venues may offer discounts. You may also have an easier time booking your vendors during the off-season. What is the most expensive time of year to get married? June, September, and October are the most popular months for weddings, so prices are usually higher. It may be harder to book your preferred vendors and they may charge more. Many venues have minimum spending requirements during peak season. Why do wedding costs change by season or month? During peak wedding season, vendors and venues charge more, which means wedding costs go up. During the off-season, there are fewer weddings, so vendors may offer discounts to attract business. Flowers may cost more during peak season because they are in short supply.
Is a DIY wedding stressful?

Everything was beautiful and perfect 🥰. You have a smart daughter who opted for a simple wedding so they could splurge on their honeymoon. And simple can be elegant as you proved. My husband had to be a part of a missionary trip as part of his seminary training. Visiting Russian orphanages was not his original plan but God intervened and he flew to Russia during their Christmas season to take gifts and spend time with orphans. He received such a blessing and a once in a lifetime trip. God has blessed you with a beautiful daughter ❤.
Teresa, that was such a beautiful wedding. Just the right amount of elegance without being too fussy. I am definitely going to keep all this in mind. I have 3 daughters that will most likely get married in the next 2 to 3 years. I also think that the couple was very smart about not wasting money on a big, elaborate wedding. I think spending money on the honeymoon and/or a house down payment is so much smarter. Thanks for sharing these lovely memories with us!
Dear Teresa, I would also like to add my congratulations to you and your family on a beautiful wedding. It is uplifting to me to see that you focused on what really matters for your daughter’s wedding and you did not fall down into the minefield of over the top, hugely expensive and ostentatious wedding celebrations that do not guarantee “the perfect day”. You have proved that you dont have to spend a fortune to have a truly magical, sensitive and charming wedding where everyone has a very happy and relaxed environment to enjoy and to help your daughter and your new son in law begin their lives together feeling the warmth and love of family and friends surrounding them. A big well done. xx
We had both our daughters get married within a year of one another. Both are in the late 20s or mid-30s. They were married in the West Tennessee summer. One thing I learned was don’t expect perfection only love. Embrace all the mistakes, things forgotten and the kids crying. In the end two people who love each other are bringing two families together.
Good job Mama and Daddy that was a beautiful wedding everything you did turned out gorgeous, when my daughter got married many years ago she didn’t want to spend a lot on the wedding she wanted her money to go toward the honeymoon as well they went to Acapulco but I think I spent less than $500 putting her wedding together everything was garage sale thrifted borrowed but it was beautiful, I think we may have a lot in common lol it’s not about the money it’s about the joy, congratulations to those beautiful kids on the beginning of a lifelong journey walking in the light with God ✝️🙏🤍
Theresa, thank you for sharing with us this very special day in your family’s life. Your daughter is beautiful. Throughout the article, I could see and hear the love you have for her. You certainly used your talent and skills for this lovely creative wedding and reception. Your words of wisdom and suggestions were a “special bonus.” God bless
What an amazing wedding you created…and such special memories to share for years come…on an extraordinary budget..I feel as you do, the memories are what is important, not the outrageous amount of money on decor that most weddings create…You absolutely knocked it out of the park Teresa. This is absolutely GORGEOUS…you are so so talented…thank you for sharing your daughters special day with all of us! God Bless you.
Awww Teresa your daughter looked absolutely stunning . The wedding was beautiful what truly lovely touchs of all the personal things you made Teresa. I’m sure you all had a wonderful day. You’re daughter is beautiful! The pictures are beautiful. You did a wonderful job and the love comes through on the wedding decorations. You have many God given talents Teresa. Thanks you for sharing your daughters wedding with all of us. Congratulations to the beautiful couple. I wish them many years of Gods Blessings!! Blessings sent to your home too!!!
Everything was beautiful! You’re daughter is beautiful and lucky to have such a creative and resourceful mama. I love the idea of having the good old fashioned church wedding (ceremony and reception at the church). That’s the way we used to do it before weddings got so out of hand and expensive. Congratulations to you and your family.
Your daughter is beautiful!! So sweet. I’m from NY and that’s how we do, everyone gives money at the wedding. Usually there is a bridal shower lunch a few weeks before the wedding and all the women get together and give a gift. Usually in NY its a huge event but we did a small wedding at a nice church and then the reception at a nice restaurant with just a small group of friends & family that we were really close with. We spent the money on our honeymoon and I’m definitely happy that we didn’t have a huge wedding cause it just becomes a big expense to feed a lot of people.
Wow! You are now an official wedding planner!! Everything was so well planned and beautiful. Very creative and an amazing nod to detail. You hit the nail on the head to honor your daughter’s wishes for her wedding and honeypot Loved all of your creative ideas.. Thank you so much for inviting us to the wedding.. Congratulations to you and your husband and the happy couple.
Be still my heart! This was the perfect wedding and your daughter is gorgeous! I love the theme of the wedding, too! To me there is no reason to spend thousands on a wedding! Love this so much! ❤️❤️❤️ so much love and talent went into this wedding and reception I can’t imagine changing a single thing! Absolute perfection…absolute!!! ❤️❤️❤️ This has been a joy to watch!!! Thank you sooooo much for sharing!

Congratulations Teresa and Ben on your daughter’s wedding. Everything was just beautiful. Love that they kept the cost below $5000. I know so many who have taken out loans for such elaborate weddings and for what? You know, there’s an “unwritten rule” that you cannot be more beautiful than the bride but you came very, very close!!!
Theresa- what a blessing you are to your daughter as I’m SURE she is to you and your husband. This article was so sweet and full of all the special touches that just beam with love!! Every little thing was chosen with care and thoughtfulness ❤️❤️ one of the sweetest things you said was that you bought her Crystal in Russia and presented it at her reception. That’s a testament of your heart and love for her; how you’ve preserved sweet memories of her childhood and throughout her life. Everything was beautiful 💕 Thank you for sharing it with us💫 ( the babies hugging! SO adorable!)
Wow, Teresa, this was awesome almost felt I was there it was filmed so well. What a beautiful couple, Ben and you must be so proud. This was just a beautiful wedding. So glad you put God in there for them to follow for the rest of their lives. Just wow. And all on a budget, you’re the greatest. Blessings. From, Mrs Jim.
As a wedding florist, I love when the girls have a “theme” to work around. One of my favorites was on a ranch out in the middle of hills that was begun by the gr. grandfather of the groom. It was held in his bank barn, built with walnut lumber cut from the ranch. Lots of unbleached muslin and burlap was used! Another was held on a local acreage where the bridesmaids wore wool skirts and cowboy boots. Such fun!! They all had fun designing and planning and I was proud to be a part of their special days.
GOD is always GOOD with his blessings!! OMG! everything was just so beautiful, Teresa! Weddings are so out of hand expensive that it was so refreshing to see what a beautiful wedding she had & budget friendly! Your daughter is gorgeous, he is a very lucky man! May GOD bless their union and keep them always in the palm of his hand through it all! CONGRATULATIONS!!
Thank you so much for sharing such a special family moment. I enjoyed it so much. You’re my kind of people. Real, down to earth, frugal and just precious souls!
