The command “therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate” refers to marriage and divorce, as it is from Jesus’ teachings on marriage and divorce found in Mark 10:1-12 and Matthew 19:1-12. Marriage is a profound union, just as Christ and the church are one body. In God’s eyes, marriage is sacred and appointed by Him, as He weaves people’s lives together to facilitate the meeting, courtship, and ultimate wedding. Biblical marriage is a covenantal relationship between one man and one woman, established by God, with the purpose of facilitating the meeting, courtship, and ultimate wedding. Jesus is concerned with how God views your marriage, not your view or your spouse’s view. Pastor John gives four reasons why marriage is God’s doing, including its design, Genesis 1:27-28, and Genesis 2:18.
In Matthew 19:4-6, Jesus emphasizes the importance of a divine union between man and woman, which is rooted in God’s design for creation and is a valid institution for all human creatures. He states that the physical union of man and wife is good in God’s sight, but in all other sexual couplings, the act involves strange flesh. Jesus does not settle for the divorce provision of Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (Mark 10:3-9), but says, “What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate” (Mark 10:9). In other words, since God is the one who decisively makes every marriage, only God has the right to break a marriage.
In Matthew 19:6, Jesus says, “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” This principle holds true, as God accepts only one form of marriage: the union between man and woman. This means that marriage comes from God, and therefore people should not end a marriage. Other passages support this verse, such as cohabitation, purity, abstinence from sexual immorality, homosexuality, and the importance of a true marriage.

How many wives did Jesus have?
Christian tradition says Jesus was not married, even though there is no proof, King said in a press release. This new gospel doesn’t prove that Jesus was married, but it shows that the question only came up in debates about sexuality and marriage. From the start, Christians disagreed about whether it was better not to marry. It was over a century after Jesus’ death before they began appealing to Jesus’ marital status. King says this new gospel also says some early Christians believed Jesus was married. The New York Times says the fragment’s owner asked to remain anonymous because its provenance is unknown. The Times says this ancient debate is still relevant today.

Bible Gateway: 1 Corinthians 7 NIV. Since there is so much immorality, each person should be with their spouse. Husbands should love their wives, and wives should love their husbands. A wife’s body belongs to her husband.
Will God ever separate a marriage?
If the unbeliever leaves, let them go. In such cases, the brother or sister is not bound. God wants us to live in peace. How do you know if you’ll save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife? – 1 Corinthians 7:10-16.
This passage shows that God wants married couples to stay together through disagreements and difficulties. God wants believers and unbelievers to stay married. Paul says that an unbelieving spouse is made holy through a believing spouse. Paul thinks that unbelievers are more likely to leave relationships than believers. This is why he focuses on unbelievers leaving marriages. Most Bible scholars agree that a believing spouse may also leave the relationship. This means that the divorce allowance is not only for an unbeliever and a believer. This applies to a marriage between two believers.

Does God restore all marriages?
God does miracles! He can turn bad marriages into good ones. But not always. Not every marriage can be saved. While God does miracles every day, He won’t do everything for your marriage. Today I’m talking to those of you who have been praying for your marriage and nothing seems to be changing. Prayer is always the right thing to do. Always. But prayer isn’t always enough. If this sounds wrong, stick with me and I’ll explain. I have two fears when writing about this. I worry that people in unhappy marriages will leave because of what I write. And I worry that someone will take what I write as encouragement to stay in a bad marriage even when God wants them to leave. I hope you don’t.
Are all marriages ordained by God?
A true marriage is when a man and a woman become one flesh. A man who is married must leave his parents and be faithful to his wife. The wife is also told to forget her family. This means that parents shouldn’t get involved in marriages. The first marriage was between Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. God made Eve out of Adam’s rib and they became one flesh. God’s plan for man is one man, one wife. The other marriage in the Bible was between Rebecca and Isaac.
