In the US, ISIS is listed as a terrorist group, and aiding terrorists is illegal. With ISIS losing its positions, young women driven to the group, predominantly to marry Daesh militants, are expressing their sentiments to the public.

I’m surprised the recruiters had no suspiscion of the girl because her use of the Islamic phrases were quite messy – unless she had done that on purpose to appear less knowledgeable about Islam as a new convert. Also surprised the people undergoing the operation didn’t have their voices altered greatly and it appears that their identity was partially shown on camera too.

I get the idea of exploring the IS recruiting process, but how accurate is this experiment actually? It doesn’t seem like they’re exposing a highly organised wolf pack of human smugglers. I’m not convinced the people on the other end are instigating this. Apart from the idealogical differences, I’m not even sure they’re doing anything wrong? The producers on the other hand, they’ve cultivated these people and without being prompted to do so…would they have tried to recruit anybody? Yes their views and methods are subjectively abhorrent if, like me, you’re a Catholic from the western world. But objectively, you could say they’re just people who are passionate about their piety and decided an Islamic caliphate was a good enough hill to die on, but we knew that much already. So apart from highlighting how radical and repugnant IS was, all that was really achieved was potentially putting at risk the safety and/or lives of the individuals on the other end. Maybe that’s why that Swedish lady fled the country? Just all seemed a bit gratuitous.
