Was The Isis Bride A Us Citizen?

A federal judge has ruled that Hoda Muthana, an American-born woman who left America at the age of 20 to join ISIS in Syria, is not a US citizen. The US Supreme Court has refused to hear the appeal of the 23-year-old woman who challenged then-Home Secretary Sajid Javid’s decision to revoke her citizenship on national security grounds in 2019 at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC). The 23-year-old had held a US passport in the past, so either she is a citizen or someone screwed up at some point.

The Department of Justice rejected the US-born ISIS bride’s claims to US citizenship in a court filing on Monday, saying she is not and has never been a US citizen. President Donald Trump directed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo not to allow Hoda Muthana, an Alabama woman who left in November 2014 to join ISIS, to return to the United States.

Shamima Begum, a 24-year-old Alabama woman who spent four years as an ISIS bride, expressed shame hearing the ruling. The US Supreme Court has refused to hear the appeal of an American woman who joined the Islamic State (IS) and is seeking re-entry to the US.

During her time with ISIS, Begum married three jihadi fighters, was widowed twice, and gave birth to a baby boy. The verdict in an American courtroom is a victory for the system of justice and against ISIS and those like the defendant who are committed to terrorism.

Who was the English girl who joined ISIS?

LONDON — Shamima Begum, who left the UK to join ISIS, has lost another appeal against being stripped of her citizenship.

Begum was 15 when she left London for Syria in 2015. She joined ISIS and married a member shortly after arriving in Syria. When she was found alive in 2019 in a Syrian refugee camp, Begum said she wanted to return to the UK. But the then-Home Secretary Sajid Javid immediately revoked her British citizenship.

Is Shamima Begum still a British citizen?

Shamima Begum lost her appeal against losing her UK citizenship. The Court of Appeal ruled that the 24-year-old must stay in Syria. The government took away her citizenship in 2019. Ms. Begum left London nine years ago at 15 to join Islamic State. The three appeal judges ruled unanimously. Ms. Begum can still challenge the decision in the Supreme Court.

What was the ruling of the ISIS bride?

A woman who joined the Islamic State in Syria lost her appeal against being stripped of her British citizenship. Judges said they couldn’t rule on whether it was harsh.

LONDON (AP) — A woman who joined the Islamic State group in Syria lost her appeal against the British government’s decision to revoke her UK citizenship. Judges said they couldn’t rule on whether it was “harsh.” Shamima Begum, now 24, was 15 when she and two other girls left London in February 2015 to marry IS fighters in Syria. The group’s online recruitment program lured many young people to its self-proclaimed caliphate. Begum married a Dutch man fighting for IS and had three children, who all died.

She lost her British citizenship soon after she arrived in a Syrian refugee camp in 2019. Last year, Begum lost her appeal against the decision at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission. This is a tribunal which hears challenges to decisions to remove British citizenship on national security grounds.

Who was the ISIS girl stripped of British citizenship?

In 2019, the British government took away Shamima Begum’s citizenship because of national security. She was found in a detention camp in Syria. Begum, now 24, argued the decision was wrong because British officials did not consider if she was a victim of trafficking. This was rejected by a lower court in February 2023. The Court of Appeal in London rejected her appeal on Friday.

Is Shamima Begum a Bangladeshi citizen?

In 2019, Ms Begum was 19. She was a Bangladeshi citizen, but not really. She had provisional citizenship until she was 21, when it would end unless she took it up. This was because her parents were born there. She’s never been to Bangladesh. She has no connection to the country. Bangladesh has rejected her. Her Bangladeshi citizenship was always fake. Today, it’s not even that. She is 23. The Home Secretary’s decision has left her stuck in a camp in Syria with no citizenship and no hope of getting one. Children who make mistakes can be redeemed. But she’ll always be stateless. Other conservatives agree. Jacob Rees-Mogg explained in the Spectator why Begum shouldn’t have lost her British citizenship. Both liberals and conservatives agree that this use of executive power is wrong and should be fixed. The Begum case may go to the Supreme Court to decide if she is stateless. The judges may agree with the government’s decision but say they have concerns. Or the justices could say that the home secretary cannot make someone stateless based on the possibility of citizenship elsewhere. The Supreme Court was also bold in the Rwanda removals case last year.

What country is Shamima Begum now in?

Begum now lives in the al-Roj camp in Syria. She is likely to stay there because she is stateless.

What citizen is Shamima Begum?

She was born in the UK to Bangladeshi parents and left at 15. She married an Islamic State fighter and had three children, none of whom survived. Her UK citizenship was taken away in 2019. Ms. Begum is in a camp in northern Syria with armed guards. If you are a UK citizen, you have the right to live in the country and access services like welfare, education, and healthcare. They can vote too.

  • The problem with refusing her citizenship rights to the U.S is that it sets a precedent that ANYONE born here can be exiled, deported or have their natural born rights revoked. You, me or anyone who lives here could be exiled because our government said so. This may be an extreme future but our governemt likes extremities.Of course, she should be punished for treason or what have you but let’s not have emotions clouded. Instead, perhaps we can siphon information out of her from her experience from ISIS and have more resources to take down ISIS

  • She can be charged with treason. Treason, Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution, any person who levies war against the United States or gives Aid and Comfort to it’s enemies has committed treason. Congress has set the penalties for treason imposing minimum penalties of five years’ imprisonment a fine not less than $10,000.Treason only applies to persons who owe any allegiance to the United States. Including aliens living in the U.S. who by living here owe temporary allegiance to the country. The last one could be problematic for some non-citizens living here

  • Sorry but she shows no remorse from what I can see. It would be different if she was apologizing and talking about the consequences of her actions and how wrong she was and how evil ISIL is, but there is NONE of that. “Just let me back in the US to serve a little jail time and be free to continue being a jihadist”

  • NO. It is not a hypocritical move for the US Government to plea with other countries to take their citizens out of Syria, while fighting the Muthana case, because, and for the simple fact as disclosed. Her authenticity of American citizen is questionable. The timing of her fathers Diplomat status is under scrutiny. Even though her father left the Diplomatic position just one month prior to her birth, was he a citizen of US at the time of her birth ? Make no mistake, no one is empathetic in her case. In a previous interview I watched here on youtube, she was told she may find prosecution for punishment for what she has done IF she is allowed back in the US, the interviewer asked her, “What can you expect IF you are allowed back in ?” Her answer…I kid you not. “Therapy” was her answer. She thinks she deserves no more than therapy. Is that remorse ?

  • Just being objective and unbiased here but what about Beau Bergdahl who deserted his post in Afghanistan. In the follow-on missions to attempt to locate and rescue soldiers were injured and killed. But we still negotiated with a known terrorist organization to secure his release. As a soldier I was shocked and very upset at the thought of bringing him back to the States to face justice. So she we not do the same for all Americans? I think they both should rot in the decision they made but you can’t have it both ways.

  • The ones who suffer the most are always the most defenseless. Children should not be made to suffer because of the mistakes of their parents. But having said that, it isn’t fair that taxpayers are expected to support the families if terrorists. I wish people would just stop fighting and hurting each other. Nobody really wins in these situations.

  • She is saying she wants a better life for her son but Even if she still has her American citizenship and is by some reason allowed to enter the country I dont think her son is allowed to enter the country because he was born abroad and because i highly doubt that she filed the proper paperwork of a CRBA at a diplomatic office in Syria to qualify her son to be a American Citizen. Also since she wasnt a diplomat or some political figure of the States and having her son be born in another country she cant even claim the son to be a birth citizen of America. She she face the consequences of her actions through the full force of the U.S. justice department.

  • I’d say it doesn’t matter which option is chosen: trying her and sending her straight to jail (she admits her guilt so maybe skip ahead to sentencing) or not letting her in. However, what if she’s pregnant? If the baby is born in the U.S., that opens a can of worms regarding the baby’s citizenship status. Obviously a child isn’t responsible for its parents’ crimes, but there’s the issue of custody. I’m not sure what the government policy would be in this case, but would it be possible for someone with hidden ties to ISIS to enter the U.S. allegedly to visit a god child, relative, or friend’s son? I’m not well-versed enough on immigration law to know if that’s a stupid idea.

  • How would she come back to the U.S.? I’m pretty sure no one will allow her to fly on a commercial plane? Will they? Will she be handcuffed and stripped searched before boarding a flight? Will military police bring her back? Will her kid go through an xray machine to make sure he doesn’t have a bom in his body? How much is all of this going to cost?

  • So basically any political fight is not over letting her back in, but about determining whether or not the methods used to revoke her citizenship should be utilized in the future in less cut and dry cases. That is the CBS I know, but that first statement from the girl is the CBS I’ve seen as of late. Ever since Jeff Glor took over there’s been a slow descent into hardcore liberalism and it has taken this news station from my favorite to almost as bad as FOX.

  • She is comparing apples and hand grenades. The foreign fighters referenced ARE nationals of their parent country without dispute. This woman MAY not be a national of the United States and that is the argument here. It is not the President saying do as I say not as I do. I am really sick of these biased idiot reporters who can’t even argue logically for a case. The young lady may have a case, just not the case you are attempting (poorly) to make.

  • Legally it sounds like because her father was no longer a diplomat when she was born she is a us citizen and they cant strip that. They should just take her back and prosecute her as a traitor. And I am a Democrat so stop saying we’d excuse her actions! What I dont get is why she wants to come back and face prosecution. She should just stay in that refugee camp. She’d have more freedom and be able to raise her kid.

  • They always assume we are perusal the news 24/7 and some of us are too busy and so since I have no idea who she is and what exactly they mean by ISIS bride I have to do more digging to understand this story completely… by ISIS bride what I am saying is did she know when she married the guy that he was in Isis or did she marry him and then he joined Isis ?…. in other words the famous saying what did she know and when did she know it… because being married to someone and then finding out they had joined Isis is not the same as marrying someone who you know is in Isis or is about to join Isis… there is a possibility one could be forgiven if they could prove she has not been brainwashed by a husband who she later found out was in Isis but there is no way we should ever forgive those who deliberately marry someone in Isis because yes they are a threat. Even the Buddhists who believe in forgiveness talk about such a thing known as idiot compassion and to forgive this woman if she was a willing Isis bride would be known as idiot compassion and putting innocent people at risk

  • And of course the comments section is full of ignorant vitriol. When it comes to terrorist groups, it’s disgustingly common for women to be kidnapped and forced to Marry against their will. Often out of fear for their lives. Whether that’s the case with her or not, I don’t know yet. But that fact is something to consider before spewing such hatred.

  • It never ceases to amaze me what the media will accept, as long as it goes against what Trump says. Trump could say “shooting your toddler in the face because they throw tantrums is a horrible thing” and the media wpuld be like “every parent reaches their limit and just because Trump says this is bad doesn’t make it true” We already hear them making a case for 3rd trimester abortions and after birth euthanasia because Trump says its abhorrent.

  • This girl still has much maturing to do even though she has claimed to have suffered through so much. The way she presented herself came across too flippantly in my opinion. She should only be given the chance to return if she can show enough determination to defend the country she betrayed, which she did not do in the slightest. She didnt even promise that she wouldnt be manipulated again, literally left that door open. Perhaps she was just nervous but unfortunately there is too much at stake to give the benefit of the doubt in this case. I do hope her and her little boy are able to manage a decent life wherever they end up

  • She left the US as a legal adult, married and had sexual relations with 3 (!) different strangers, and only ‘smartened up’ with the birth of a child. This woman has a psychopathology which will make her a serious risk to society if she comes back to America. I’m perfectly willing for the State Department to revoke her citizenship if that’s possible.

  • THE KERALA STORY The Kerala Story is not Kerala’s or India’s alone. It is the story of Australia, U. K., Canada, and U. S. A. Those wanting to return to their home countries express their regret and remorse in differing degrees. The governments of the home countries are reluctant to take these ex-ISIS people fearing security risks. My feeling is that these youths are misguided. Surely, the home countries are not weaklings. The ex-ISIS people should be allowed to return and take what will come to them.

  • To the people perusal: you have to realize that a smile can also be a sign of discomfort. That’s why some people laugh when they are witnessing an accident, it is not because they think it is funny, but because their body tries to reduce stress by laughing. I am not saying this is the case, but don’t be too quick to judge.

  • This adult has said many times that she does Not regret what she has done. And, the fact that she has not been killed because she wants to leave makes me believe she is being sent back as a plant by ISIS. Also interesting is that another woman from isis is trying to return to England. They both speak as though they have been coached on what to say.

  • I’m skeptical of just how remorseful she really is. She refused to reveal details on how she got to Syria in the first place. All I really got out of this interview is that she is poor, hungry and wants to come back to the U.S. We will never really know just how many people she radicalized herself with her messages. I could not be happier to hear just a few hours ago that she will not be allowed back into the country.

  • We all make mistakes in life. Most mistakes you can fix but rarely in life is there some you can’t fix nor ever take back. This is one of those mistakes that can never be fixed She chose this path I don’t know what the future holds for this young lady and her child We all know how that saying goes, when you make your bed

  • Hoda confirmed to BuzzFeed News that she was not telling the truth to her father about why she wanted the money. “It would never cross my mind to come back,” she said. “I wanted to see if he’d help me out during troubling times. It was just a test. I knew he wouldn’t send me anything anyway.” This is from an article in 2015. She has a history of lying and she’s doing the same now.

  • “I want my son to be around my family, I want to go to school, I want to have a job and I want to have my own car,” she said. Right but she also supported the extreme violence, lived well under it and now just wants more and more. She needs to be a good muslim woman – shut up, marry the brother of her former husband and stay in muslim paradise.

  • Im noticing that girls who run off to that place come back once they have a baby from there. Do they think they will gain sympathy or did they realize that there only role over there was to make babies and thats it. I also feel like they get sent back to spy or someshit if they do succeed in coming back

  • There is an eerie similarity between her body language and that of the UK ISIS bride n the Kerala ISIS brides. They are all smiling through the entire interview as though giving some coded message to their trainers. They are confident. Not troubled in the least bit. No anxiety, no tears, no anger, no particular demand to atleast let their children leave. No condemnation in clear words of ISIS or the ideology behind it. No regrets abt having taken the step of having left behind their families n joining this inhumane pschycotic group of killers. She enjoyed going from man to another during their ‘holy war’. So in between killing people they were happy enough to have weddings n make children. N she wants everyone to believe that she is extremely troubled. When she said that she was given a list of ISIS men to choose from as husband there was a glimmer of pride in her smile. She does not regret a thing. She just wants to get to the next country, use their resources, then continue waging a silent jihad, indoctrinate her child against the non Islamic civilizations n make him a proper fighter to fight on any land brave enough to accommodate her today

  • Her child should be taken care of, as it needs a normal family and also needs to learn how to love and how to be loved. As for herself she ought to stay in Syria and especially in Raqqa in order to build up the civilized society, that she and her Islamic friends destroyed. If she believes that she is going to be a good person in the USA, she can use that energy and conviction to become a better person in Syria. She’s now a part of the Syrian people and as such able to help “her” nation (not the USA) to become a better country.

  • I truly find her to be kind of detached from reality like she is obligating herself to say that in order to come back but through the whole interview I see her with a smile talking as if it where a sociopath no real feelings or remorse on what she did and what just happened just wanting to come back to United States. I would frankly be scared for these people to reorganize while they’re in the United States

  • Any country who allows them to return without giving them a life jail sentence, needs to be held personally responsible for any further act of terror they might commit, including America . As a social liberal, I still have no sympathy for traitors. She may talk like Shirley Temple, but I won’t believe she didn’t act any different than her murderous and blood thirsty husbands and ISIS brothers . Jail her, then strip her of her citizenship.

  • She wrote online about “Americans who sleep under the enemy” should do something within their time, I believe it said “get in your cars and go on drive by shootings and rent big trucks to run over crowds” she literally praised what happened in Paris. She knows ISIS is falling so now she wants to come back to America,if it was sti thriving would she really be coming back..? That’s the real question here

  • That is the same speech of the English girl who UK reboco his citizenship … the two girls were not small girls when they went to Syria, they abandoned their parents and they do not care … and now they ask forgive and return as if nothing had happened to their countries, I say it is not fair … I am sorry but it is better to judge them in Syria because in one way or another they were part of ISIS

  • Questions …. 1. Was Hoda born in the USA? yes To a diplomat? Yes! Therefore she is not an American citizen Then what citizen is she? YEMEN because her father is a Yemen citizen.. Hypothetically If she was not born to a diplomat and born on us soil is she an american citizen? Yes how does one lose their citizenship? Commiting treason CHECK, Being a terrorist CHECK, renouncing her citizenship CHECK Her son was born in Syria, Syrian law says children born to a Syrian father are Syrian citizens. Therefore her son is not a american citizen either. When a child is born in Germany while there parents are station there it does not give the child German citizenship. As it did not give HODA american citizenship either when her father was a diplomat She got her passport in 2014 under the Obama administration they later informed her family she was not a citizen.. But its not like there was a fight about it before cause she already burnt that mistake passport. Legally and Logically I conclude Hoda is NOT an American citizen and is a Yemeni citizen. Therefore Yemen should be responsible in making decisions over her. Case Closed!

  • We are talking about ISSIS HERE AFTER THIS INCIDENT. She was schooled in their religious teaching about being part of the jihad journey. We don’t even see any division in the Muslims groups in the USA to differentiate extremists from being a normal Muslims. So don’t believe her but rather should be a lesson to the rest of the Muslims in USA. She will be a point of contact in America to the Issis.

  • It seems like a lot of these brides wanting to return are in the news a lot lately and it makes me suspicious. Also she wouldn’t say how she got there which is fishy. Wouldn’t you be trying to come clean if you wanted to be rescued?? Maybe it’s her flat monotone affect but I don’t feel much empathy for her situation. I feel for her son and family but she was an adult when she chose to leave. There are people dying to come to America that are good people and seem to deserve a first chance more than she should deserve a second one. Especially if she’s not denouncing everything ISIS and trying to do everything she can to help our government fight them.

  • I am sorry but if you have such a “maternal instinct” now give your child to family members still in the US for them to raise and please by all means stay where you are….she shows absolutely no remorse! This girl has the wrong president in the White House right now to think she is just going to comeback to the US and face no repercussions!

  • What really frustrates me and infuriates me is that on one side, there are journalists and soldiers risking their lives daily to expose this evil to the world and decimate it before it consumes others, and on the other side, there are these bloody stupid teenagers who are so bloody insecure that their response to this vile and repulsive indoctrination and so-called “call to arms” is horny at best. Let these kids who wish to come back to their homes from ISIS lands EARN their way back. I think they have experienced enough to become matured, so we can expect them to behave like adults and not like little spoilt brats who got their lollypops snatched away from them and now wanna run into mommy’s arms, wailing and bawling their lungs out.

  • Her family had an idea of where she was heading, the families always act blindsided, but the truth is it starts at home. She had discussions with her family, rants about how Americans are killing their people and how they should fight back. At best her father did nothing to stop her, at worst he encouraged her.

  • We had the same issue with Shemima Begum here in the UK and fortunately, she wasn’t allowed back. I thought it strange she wanted to come back to the UK when the amount of people flooding in on boats started to rise. (Known ISIS members identified in that lot too) was she carrying orders from her masters? You bet she was.

  • Anyone else pick up on (I’ve no read all comments yet), the fact that she says – “I’ve been manipulated once, but HOPEFULLY never again”! Emphasis on “HOPEFULLY”, will not b again. Either I’m missing something, or u would surely b saying I WOULD NOT be manipulated again, not u HOPEFULLY wouldn’t surely!….

  • What this young woman does not understand is that her choice to leave America to join ISIS and more so her actions with her Twitter account had grave consequences… She is not allowed to ever come back to America and she is stuck in that refugee camp in Kurdish held territory indefinitely until another option happens… She has no country and no home… It is sad that such a young person will not have the chance to ever come back to her family and Yemen is not an option for her… She will have to learn how to live with the consequences of her choice… She could have had the chance to come back to America if she did not write what she did on her Twitter account… With Peace Sakinah 🌹

  • She went to a nice high school that I’m familiar with in AL. Hoover is a nice place. She had access to being an American, and benefiting from all that America had to offer. She threw it away to live in a 3rd world country to those promoting terror. Keep her out and let her sit over there to think about what she pissed away. She reaps what she sowed.

  • The thing is obvious ???s how do minors get the funds to travel to mideast ….without a parent ….they all knew what they were joining ….but miss the freedom and comfort of the west they hate . ..interesting too most of the clips ive seen show immigrants or americans that grew up upper middle class….id like to know how many of these families came to imigrate through amnesty….amnesty is a great idea for people but ???very corrupt process ….doesnt really help the people its supposed too ..😩
