  • So…. let me just get this straight. Carrie is a 35 year old woman-child who has no money because she blows all of hers on designer crap, eating out, and anything and everything her heart desires. Then, Aidan offers to give her the ring, which would have helped her, and she gave it back. Then, Big offers her the money, and she tears up the check, and then her friends offer her the money, and she also says no. After all this insanity, she decides it is appropriate to March over to Charlotte’s house and unload on her? And guilt trip her into giving her Charlotte’s ring when she refused to keep her own? Wow. What a disgusting person.

  • I hated Carrie she spends $40,000 on shoes and is constantly buying designer clothes but is always whining that she’s broke and then she has the nerve to take it out on Charlotte who ends up selling her engagement ring to bail Carrie out grrrr. Why should Charlotte have to feel bad and sell her stuff to help Carrie out of her self inflicted mess when Carrie could sell a few of her shoes or designer outfits and take some responsibility for her mess

  • Charlotte is right! She always gives Carrie a reality check. She doesn’t have to give her money, what if she never pays back or needs it for herself. It’s sometimes good to be prudent then to get carried away with friendship and emotions. A true friend would never put you in such a situation like Carrie did.

  • This is beyond selfish and immature that Carrie actually starts giving Charlotte a lecture (when Charlotte mentions how money and friendship dont mix), when she shouldn´t have shown up at her apartment in the first place. Charolotte is absolutely right – it´s not her job to fix Carrie´s finances or her life. And the fact that Charlotte wears her ring and volonteers is also completely her business. I said this many times – in the real world I dont see a person like Carrie having close friends, she simply isnt capable of being grown up, independent, strong and caring person.

  • Carrie is a real piece of work here, but loaning money to family and expecting it to be repaid as promised does not work either. I loaned money to a niece who promised to pay it back. She made 3 monthly payments and then quit, leaving me with the debt on my credit card. I had to pay it out of my own pocket, something I was not prepared to do. Three years later she filed for bankruptcy and I filed a claim for my unpaid balance. She went bat crazy over my filing. I can’t figure out which person is worse, my niece Chastity or Carrie in this scene. At least Carrie acknowledged she had a problem, my niece never did.

  • I love this show, but I have always hated Carrie. She overreacts to everything and wonders why guys don’t stick around. Also whenever she does something wrong, she knows it is wrong, but she just doesn’t have any self control to keep herself from doing it (Ex: her affair with Big while she was dating Aiden and Big was married to Natasha).

  • I remember this was the episode where Big wrote her a check so she could save her apartment. And Miranda, with her highly sensitive, ridiculous, independent woman point of view, convinced her to not take the check. WTH! I would’ve taken that check that was given to me As A Gift, cashed it and saved my home.

  • god this episode highlights one of the many reasons why I dislike Carrie lmao. You spend 40,000 dollars on shoes, rip up a check that could have helped you, turned down your other friends when they offered you money, yet have the damn nerve to get pissy at Charlotte for not offering your grown ass self money when you wouldn’t even accept it in the first place. Yeah she flat out says she’s being irrationally angry, but I agree with Charlotte here. Money and friendship does not mix, I’ve literally dealt with a situation where a friend borrowed money from me then proceeded to not pay me back and call me a bitch when I made it clear I expected my money back. And that was when I was a teenager, so it wasn’t as big of a deal. And I don’t wanna hear about how “it’s about the principality of it” or “she should have been a good friend and offered anyways”. Friendship =/= entitlement, your friends are not obligated to do anything for you that includes offering money to you or anything other than friendship. IDC if this is a tv show, the fact that there are real people that act like Carrie is enough for me to voice my deep dislike for her.

  • The thing that makes me laugh about this is that this money situation wasn’t even an emergency thing. Like, If Carrie needed to have surgery after getting by a car and had to pay the hospital bill but didn’t have any left for the apartment, I’d understand why she would be mad. But she LITERALLY put herself into this situation because she couldn’t just be nice to Aiden. And it mind boggles me that she acts like its Charlotte’s job to give her money. Also Carrie listens? When, maybe like one episode per-season! But half the time I feel that we never hear Charlotte talk, and when she does, Carrie criticizes her. Even the ring part was ridiculous. Instead of sitting down and talking to her, she criticizes her! As if the ring is a worse problem then the potential of being homeless!

  • It may not be entirely fair, but for me what people think about this scene is a certain indicator of maturity. People who do not want to take responsibility for their lives, discuss their problems endlessly, and complain that everyone does not help them as they should, accuse Charlotte of not giving money to Carry. Usually these are people who do not have money. So they say, again, not about what they themselves would do, but that real friends should help them. I’ve just realized that one of my friends reminds me of Carry in this aspect. They have different lifestyles, but the reluctance to take responsibility for their lives and their attitude to money are very similar… and my friend is actually proud of how much she spends on clothes and accessories. She thinks its cute and feminine.

  • The main idea here is that Carrie (irrationally, but still) makes Charlotte guilty about having more money. Yes, it may happen that our friends may have much more than we do, but it’s life. Carrie didn’t want to give up her lifestyle, while Charlotte must have felt guilty for having an opportunity to have her life. And even if Charlotte wanted to get rid of the ring, she could do anything she wanted with it. P. S. Carrie threw to Charlotte’s face that she was listening and nodding to her problems. Oh, but Big’s bullshit lasted for 6 seasons, so, that’s not the reason to blame Charlotte…

  • It is not that she was working and couldn’t afford her living, she worked and spend a hell lot of money on shoes, and than she complains about having financial problems. Friends help you when you have problems and need money to survive not when you are stupid and to pay for you to keep your luxurious lifestyle.

  • the audacity to accuse and hold Charlotte accountable for your own problems. like yes she could be your friend and say “no I wont give you money”. she is NOT responsible for your problems ?!?!. and the audacity to point at her ring…hold on…yes she can have millions, still not offer you money and spend it for every shit she wants. actually its carrie the bad friend who acts like “you dont offer me money you are a bad friend”. okay your friendship values are disgusting

  • It was NOT about Charlotte selling her ring, or furniture, or her house or anything for that matter. It was the fact that A very good friend of Carrie’s (Charlotte) was NOT willing at all to help her out. Who are we as friends if we are not willing to help one another, even when we don’t have much at all to offer? It was about support, Charlotte didn’t show any in this scene or when they were all having lunch together.

  • This is probably the scene I hated most in SATC. Jesus, perusal Carrie blab and blab and yell at Charlotte for nothing. Sell your shitty shoes, your ugly WAY TOO expensive designer you only wear once. STOP GOING TO CHINESE FOOD PLACES YOU CANT AFFORD. My god, if any “friend” of mine does this— you best believe they’re out of my life.

  • I also can’t understand Carrie but I think she set the character like that. Carrie always has kind of fantasy in relationship, about that, she usually overlooked the reality and behaved irrationally. You can see such aspect of her in s6e16, the episode that Carrie had fight with Alexander because he kept using the word ‘dead’. She seemed so irrational then too, but I think that’s her character.

  • I’m sorry this is the perfect example why Carrie is often disliked as a character. She was a dusty friend and seemed jealous of her friend groups financial stability . Nobody owes a grown person anything . She wasn’t asking for 500 dollars which is still a lot she was asking for 30k . She then insults charlotte for gaining her wealth from a marriage . Hell atleast Charlotte was smart enough to marry into affluence. Unlike Carrie that was more than happy to keep jumping into a situationship with Big . Carrie definitely is a narcissistic and loves to play victim .

  • ‘These shoes pinch my feet but I love them’ That is the major hint as to why Carrie is in this mess. She lives above her means. She’s a working class person living in an expensive city who is addicted to designer goods but she doesn’t make enough cash to justify her lifestyle. How does she have a steady job but she has saved nothing? Also there is a market for used designer goods. It’s called vintage. She wouldn’t have gotten the original prices for them but she probably could have sold a lot of her stuff for half or three quarters of the price and help make up her down payment. Carrie is just immature and wants other people to rescue her and she doesn’t wanna make sacrifices to get what she needs.

  • So let me get this straight – this woman has probably lived in NY for a longer time than I have and I am born and bred. During this episode she was going through her break up with Aiden and because reality was slapping her in the face about her own economic situation she felt a sense of entitlement that all her friends including charlotte had to at least offer to lend her the $$ bc once again she’s a walking mess. So since charlotte was the only one brave enough to not raise her hand she walked all the way to charlotte’s apartment to yell at her for not bailing her out ? – I had a friend like Carrie before and i only have one thing to say – GROW UP! Or life will make you do it.

  • Carrie was way wrong ! I mean you don’t mix money and friends honestly. It’s one thing to give as a gift but never take or ask for it. She definitely should have sold her shoes and high fashion clothes to get some money. You should always be there for friends but you should never expect things from them only time, loyalty and love 💯.

  • You all keep acting like Carrie is supposed to be a good person… She’s not. She’s supposed to be a flawed character. I’ve made loads of mistakes in life: some sentiments and some financial. And it’s ok to have made mistakes. It’s also ok to evolve, and Carrie is evolving. There’s nothing wrong with conflict in relationships — feelings and finances are messy things. These discussions are never going to come out smoothly. What’s beautiful is that despite their different point of views and circumstances, Charlotte and Carrie were able to come together and cheer each other on through a hard time.

  • I have 4 kids n a Chihuahua. Rent, car insurance, wifi, n monthly bills, food, gas n etc. I cant afford $14.99 sandles I saw at Payless, let along $400 shoes. I had to borrow $20 from my mother to get gas last week that lasted 1 week. She alone n broke. TV makes things seems simple no matter how stupid it is.

  • To be fair, she does say that she is being irrational. But, yeah: The whole concept this show pushed of ‘we’re soul mates and men are just our friends’ is kind of tested in episodes like this. Typically, partners rely on each other to a certain extent to help each other through difficulties in life, including financial ones. But friends (especially when its a 4some)? I couldn’t take even partial responsibility for 3 adults whom I wasn’t in love with.

  • so many people nowadays are entitled like this . they feel like they DESERVE nice things, compliments and love, just for existing lol so sad . good thing there’s a thing called natural selection . the strong goes on and the weak stays behind . how did she even manage to pay for that appartment in the first place with just a freelance writing job ? how ? is carrie a gold digger on the side ? an escort ? is she secretly from a rich family ? what’s her deal ?

  • I’m going to be the minority here and say that people are mishearing what Carrie’s saying. Yes, it was kind of irrational and inappropriate for her to go yell at Charlotte. But I think the core of what she wanted was just for her friends to acknowledge her struggle and OFFER help. As we see, she didn’t take anyone’s money, not even Samantha or Miranda’s, but she just wanted them to offer. In another word, she wanted her friends to be there and stand with her in her moment of vulnerability, and not be avoidant. Charlotte WAS being avoidant. Yes, she didn’t have any obligation to loan her adult-ass friend money, but even just offering some kind of help, like “Carrie, you are always welcome to come stay with me,” would’ve made Carrie happy. I don’t think that’s too crazy to ask. She NEVER would’ve asked Charlotte to sell her ring, but Charlotte convinced her that it was a win-win b/c she herself needed to move on from Trey, plus it was a LOAN, and Carrie DOES pay her back – which honestly, is more than what a lot of people are capable of these days. I hear too many stories of people borrowing money but never returning, so just on that, Carrie’s a better person and has more integrity. People hate on Carrie so much that they’re losing sight of her arguments. Sometimes, Carrie IS right. I’d be the first to say she’s self-absorbed, but that doesn’t mean she’s ALWAYS wrong. I think Charlotte looking away WAS hurtful. I would not want my best friend to look away if I was talking about a problem, even if it was, yes, self-inflicted w/uncontrolled shopping.

  • This is all Charlotte and Aiden’s fault. Carrie was happy with her life and apartment but Aiden is so controlling. He practically forced Carrie into making them live together and do all these expensive renos. When he knew he was going to dump her. And Charlotte so wanted Carrie to be married she pushed Carrie to do something she wasn’t ready for. Shame on them both.

  • Some of seem to forget that Miranda and Samantha offered to help Carrie, but Charlotte didn’t. Any good friend would offer to help someone who is in dire need, but Charlotte looked the other way. If my best friend was in danger of being homeless, I would do what I can to help her. It’s the thought that counts.

  • She wasn’t asking charlotte to solve her financial problems. She was upset over the fact that she didn’t offer. Regardless of whether or not charlotte has a lot of money or whether she has $2 in her account, she should have offered something. I would hope that if I was ever in a tricky situation financially that a long time friend who I’ve been down for would offer something. Especially in lieu of the fact that everyone else at the table was offering to help. And if I were charlotte and didn’t want to offer money, I would at least offer her some advice or something else to SHOW THAT I CARE AS A FRIEND. I’m so sick of everyone in the SATC clips comment sections roasting Carrie as being a horrible friend and self centred. They all look out for each other when they need each other equally throughout the series, Carrie included. This whole comment section is always so judgemental on Carrie and act as if she’s satan or something. The only thing I dislike about Carrie is her trashy “eclectic” sense of style and her brassy highlights. Which funny enough everyone seems to like!

  • Nope I get Carrie on this one. She was wrong for the whole delivery of it but I understand where she was coming from. If you arent comfortable offering money be straight up about it but as my friend yes look me in the face and help me. Sit down with me and help me come up with a budget or plan for worse case scenario. Dont just sit there and act like you dont see me struggling.

  • Carrie was not asking Charlotte to help her financially. She was HOPING that Charlotte would OFFER TO HELP HER financially. She said herself that she would’ve rejected the offer the way she did Miranda’s and Samantha’s. Carrie was on the right here. Charlotte was being a horrible friend for ignoring her friend’s problem so blatantly. The ending was her redeeming factor and, for the record, Carrie promised to pay Charlotte back “slowly but SURELY”. That’s what true friends do. And this is coming from someone who dislikes Carrie tremendously.
