How To Apply Eye Makeup For Blue Eyes?

To create a dramatic look for blue eyes, follow these steps:

1. Choose eyeshadows with gold or warm brown tones to bring out the blue in your irises. Light eyeshadows in shades of white, pink, and silver create a flattering effect.

2. Double up on the line with dark powder eyeshadow, like Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeshadow in Blackout.

3. Apply a base eyeshadow to the lid using your favorite eyeshadow palette.

4. Let your eyebrows set the tone for your face beautifully. Pluck and shape your eyebrows to neaten them and open up the eye area.

5. Apply a neutral earth tone to the entire lid and blend out until the color is diffused.

6. Pay attention to your brows, too. For blue-eyed clients who want their eye color to pop, it’s important not to neglect your brows. Bleach the brows to light blonde and place a small piece of tape diagonally at the outer corner of your eye before lining your eyes and winging it out.

7. Start with a chocolate brown shade and apply it to the outer corner of the crease, blending into the center. Use an eyeshadow primer to enhance the eyeshadow color and apply highlighter on the inside corner of your eyes.

8. Opt for a bright satin-y teal shade like Colourpop Super Shock Shadow ($7) for blue eyes.

  • I so badly want this to work for me but with hooded eyes I know I will only get satisfaction for the first few minutes of wearing it before it smudges and becomes muddy. I’m also at the point of just investing in waterproof mascara so it quits running into the creases under my eyes XD Thank you so much for this article! This was very helpful and I am absolutely looking forward to trying this

  • I have the makup geek pallet for blue eyes and could not get the look down until I received your brush set. I made the biggest difference in the application of the colors. I have other brushes but these have really made the biggest difference. Thank you so much!! Love you and your articles! Simply amazing!!!

  • Thank you so much for this Angela! I think a series for all eye colors would be really helpful to us – my eyes are brown. Thank you for being so detailed and explaining all of the steps. It helps tremendously – I am 56 but now relearning makeup application thanks to you. You are the sweetest and prettiest young lady! 😊

  • This was great, thank you! Your simple techniques made me realize I am spending way too long trying to perfect my eye makeup (to an annoyingly long extent)! My 48 year old eyes are difficult to work with these days, but I’m trying your method and not letting my OCD get in the way! ☺️ I’m new to your website, but I am definitely checking out more of your articles!

  • Absolutely gorgeous look. I have blue eyes too and a similar eye shape to you, (only 20 years older haha) I often wear coloured contacts just so I can wear different colours on the lid because some colours just don’t look right against my blue eyes, only because they’re much older. Any colours work on you and you always pull of the softest and also most boldest looks so beautifully!

  • I would love to see your different eye colors using contacts and how you would pair eyeshadow just like this article. I would also like articles that show how to improve your technique and how to change your eye shape by placing eyeshadow in certain locations on your eye (e.g. how to make a hooded eye appear bigger and pop)

  • I have blue eyes too and yes warm tones do make my eyes pop. However, it just doesn’t look good on me. Like at all, it looks terrible. I think it’s because my skin is so cool toned but idk. I think the warm tones are so pretty but every time I try to wear them it doesn’t work out so I almost always wear cool tones. Cool tones make my eyes pull more gray which I think looks pretty neat. If you have any suggestions for warmer toned shadows that would look good against cool toned skin I’d love to hear them 😊.

  • I know this is an old vid, but I’m a 40 year old that doesn’t wear make up, apart from odd nights out, so when xmas parties roll around, I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing and the department stores overwhelm me with all the counters. So, this really helps and gives me an idea what to look for when shopping! Thanks so much 🙂

  • Great article. I first subscribed because you love sigma bushes as I do. I am quite a bit older than you,, and you have taught me so much! Then eye look is beautiful. My eye color is darker than yours and I will try this. You and Zabrena ought to do a collaboration. She made a article on your cut crease technique article. I love the way you explain and demonstrate your eye looks.

  • I think I’ve said this before but you are my go to person for eyeshadow ideas. You have an amazing talent. I had to laugh when you were swatching the shimmer shades as we both had the same reaction. I’ve just had a blepharoplasty so I have a new love for eyeshadow. My wallet hasn’t liked it much 😂. Could so see you bring out your own eyeshadow pallets. Also your lips look gorgeous!

  • I’ve always followed you your skills are out of this world. This is a great idea i would love you to make it an ongoing series for us i vote yes. • I am just so struck by how gorgeous she is! Her personality is beautiful, the makeup is beautiful and can we just talk about those amazing eyebrows?? She has the eyebrows I’ve always wanted lol. I really appreciate you doing this look Andrea because I have blonde hair and green eyes, fair skin and I want to wear orangey eyeshadow but sometimes it just doesn’t come off well and I have to adjust. Another amazing look from Andrea! Love this so much! 💕💕💕

  • Wooow! You did an amazing work as usual!!!!! She is a very beautiful girl, and at the beggining she had more like a young girl look, but after your magic, at the end she looks so elegant, so glam……without taking away her youth. I loved this tutorial, you are incredibile Andreea and your model too!!!! Thank you for doing this!!!! ❤️

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have the same coloring as your model and can tell you that the struggle is real when you are fair and blonde. You can look like a clown very quickly if you don’t use a light hand. I learned quite a lot from this tutorial, and will make sure I hydrate before using my Makeup Forever foundation🤣. She looks absolutely lovely, and thank you again.

  • This article was so beautiful to see how incredible your artistry was and the subtle changes that evolved as you were doing the makeup were so helpful. I love your articles and look forward to seeing them. I have learned so much from you and I love makeup too. Thanks for such a beautiful model too. She is so wonderful inside and out. 🌹🌹Best wishes to both of you.

  • By no means am I a red head or any kind lol I’m Afro American with dark brown hair and eyes however I would love to see a tutorial on a red head one with fair skin and if possible a brown skin red head. I don’t hardly see anything for them on the internet that new and updated as of 2022 and I believe you executed this perfectly💕

  • Omg, this look was absolutely stunning! As a pale, blonde hair, blue eye (and downturned eyes) gal myself, I definitely picked up a few tips and tricks that I plan to try out next time I do my makeup. Ali, great job. And Hannah, you are gorgeous, girl! I’m guessing you were knocking them dead walking down the street looking so fierce! Just stunning.

  • Wow! Andreea ask and ye shall receive!! I’d commented on ur previous article how much I’d love to see you do makeup on a blonde and you delivered! Great minds 😂. I loved this, thank you so much for demonstrating on a face with different coloration. The bronzer getting in blonde baby hairs is real! Seeing the type of brush you used to apply the bronzer was a lightbulb moment for me – I’m always using the big bronzer brushes but actually a smaller surface area would be much more practical on my face. Thanks again!

  • Dear Andrea, I have been perusal your articles for many months, and am very grateful for the many tips you‘ve given to those who are beauty and/ or makeup challenged! As a retired Obstetrician, I felt especially touched by your articles during, and immediately following your pregnancy. I loved how you encouraged women to „get out there, and taught how makeup can give us that little boost of courage to do so ❤ At 66 (closing in on 67) I have my second (and thank God last!) wedding coming up next month in Kona, on the big island of Hawaii. I have been „practicing” many of your wonderful techniques and have updated my „makeup kit.” Following you has helped to boost my confidence for „the big day.” I only wish that I could pack you in my suitcase for Hawaii!! Blessings, Lauren

  • Andreea, one of your best looks! It’s so beautiful. You lifted her look without making her look like another person ❤. You’re also the best rep for any make up you like! There’s very few things I buy these days without seeing if you like it 😂. I appreciate the educational theme of your articles too. Make up websites don’t tend to do this much anymore. One of the MANY reasons why I keep perusal you, article after article ❤

  • How splendid, both of you! Andreea: we know what great talent and good taste you have, and you do never disappoint our expectations. And Hannah: a graceful, witty young woman with a spontaneous smile (she smiles also with her eyes!), who absolutely doesn’t give a snobbish impression, even though she is perfectly aware of her genuine beauty. Well: a relaxing article that I really enjoyed fully and with pleasure. Thank you. A big hug from Rome/Italy

  • What a gorgeous woman. Andreea you give great makeup tips. Powder over the lip liner and lipstick great tip. You really helped my makeup game immensely when you told me about using a smaller brush to apply face powder really has helped my face look way less powdery and cakey absolutely love you love your website and love your makeup tips gorgeous finished look by the way she looks amazing you did such a good job -Dominique

  • What a naturally beautiful young lady! Fantastic tutorial! Super helpful. I have very light skin and appreciate these tutorials. The only thing I wouldn’t have done was to make her eyebrows even thicker and darker. She’s so beautiful but for a blonde, it almost looks like she dyed her eyebrows darker. But what a gorgeous woman! I hope she becomes a professional model. She has it. Well done.

  • This is such a good tutorial. I don’t have her coloring, but I still learned a lot. Thank you. I recently saw a article in which you showed some iconic lipsticks. You said that you love pretty packaging. Have you heard of Zeesea cosmetics? All of their packaging is exquisite. They have a lipstick that has gold fluting with a golden dragon wrapped around it. I think you’ll like everything they have.
