How To Make A Ballroom Wedding Unique?

To create a perfect ballroom reception for weddings, consider opulent curtains, a cohesive theme, and embellished walls and ceilings. Consider using gold or pearl fabrics, a statement centerpiece, and a big chunk of attention to the entrance. Go for gilded details and incorporate glitter for a dramatic effect.

Incorporate a signature cocktail bar, dessert table, gift table, family photo table, or lounge area with rental furniture. Ballrooms offer elegance and comfort, making styling a wedding reception a breeze. Consider using a hotel ballroom or a hotel ballroom with a fusion Fiesta Hall for a lively and dynamic atmosphere.

Add sparkles for outdoor entrances and tall centerpieces for an intimate atmosphere. For example, a two-story, 7,000 square foot ballroom in Milwaukee features customizable options from bar packages to catering. Opt for tall centerpieces to make the ceilings seem lower and break up the space.

To make your wedding unique and unforgettable, consider unique ceremony seating, creating a WOW factor for guests upon entering the venue. Create non-traditional wedding bouquets made of brooches, feathers, buttons, candies, paper, fabric, beads, etc., and use dramatic fabric for ceiling drapings and playful lighting.

Incorporate architectural elements like a marble fireplace or spiral staircase, spotlights, or decorative floral arrangements to highlight unique elements. Choose a venue with nice chairs and focus on making the reception feel chic and modern. Carats & Cake offers expert tips and inspiration for getting married in iconic ballroom spaces.

How to decorate a boring ballroom?

Brainstorm ideas with your clients at the venue. Take photos so you can continue your idea sessions at your office. With some lead time and input from your clients and the florist, you can do a lot without spending a lot of money. Part of your brainstorming session should include how to make the best use of the venue. Use what you have. Are the ceilings low? Use the cozy feel to your advantage. Is the lighting bad? You could put lights along the walls and ceilings to brighten it up. Are the walls dull? Spread bright centerpieces along the walls to draw the eyes. Use chair covers to hide the seats. Or, if you have the budget, rent new chairs. Rent drapes to put in front of the existing drapes. Drape walls or ceilings with fabric. Use up-lighting to accent the space. Add eye-catching centerpieces and colorful linens to brighten up the venue. Cover floors with fabric, rented carpet, or a rented wood floor covering. Scatter flower petals along the floor or walkways to guide guests. Use plants and flower arrangements liberally. You may want to rent trees and potted plants from a nursery to make the venue look more natural. Think about the kind and location of wedding and reception photos your clients will want. Tell the photographer about the venue and situation so they can bring the right equipment. Your clients might like to take photos at a local park or garden instead of inside the venue. A little creativity can make a less-than-perfect venue look beautiful on your clients’ wedding day. What ideas have you used to make a venue look better for your clients? Sabatino says you can make a black dress look good in the Hamptons or a ballroom in New York City.

White dress. Unless you’re the bride, wearing white to a wedding is a big no-no. Don’t wear white, ivory, or champagne unless the invitation says so. White and ivory are attention-grabbing colors. When you’re the only one wearing them, all eyes are on you. It’s also the day a bride wears this color for her wedding. It’s been an emotional journey getting there.

How to style a ballroom wedding?

Table arrangements: For your ballroom wedding, decide if you want your dance floor to be the main attraction or if you want the dining and dancing spaces to be separate. Some couples put tables around the edge of the ballroom so everyone can get to the dance floor easily. Another common table arrangement is tables on one side of the room with the dance floor and DJ on the other.

Chandelier: A stunning ballroom chandelier will provide more photo opportunities. If your venue has a big chandelier in the reception space, ask your photographer to take some photos here before the room is filled with guests.

Time of day: If you’re having a sunset or moonlight wedding, work with your venue or wedding coordinator to schedule your cocktail hour and reception. The time of sunset changes with the season. Check this ahead of time for your wedding date.

There are many ways to do this. Use drapes, chandeliers, paper lanterns, string lights, or other decorations that fit your wedding theme. Use hanging decorations for high ceilings, but not low ceilings.

  • THANK YOU FOR DOING CORSETS JUSTICE Hollywood does a lot of things wrong, but a costuming thing that I hate they don’t do well is how they’re a structuring element as opposed to something like tightlacing—they are distinctly different. And the fact that they’ve scared away a number of actresses away from them is very sad.

  • The most astounding dressmaking skills I have ever seen, utterly breathtaking. I was taught to embroider and sew tapestry by my grandmother’s ladies maid from a very young age, I now repair and restore antique pieces so fully appreciate the skills of this lady. What an eye for detail. This dress should be exhibited, not only for it’s intrinsic beauty but also as a testament to incredible talent.

  • I’ve been in love with the dress from the movie since the first glance. It is my favourite movie adaptation of Cinderella, purely because of the dress. The way it swooshes, it looks like it weights nothing, just incredible. I’d love to twirl around it. And the shimmer? The fullness? Absolutely amazing work.

  • I knew the gown Lilly James wore was exquisite, and she did it full justice, but I had no idea it was this labor intensive, nor made with such delicate and gorgeous fabrics. I can’t even make a simple pillowcase, so can’t imagine making this beauty with all of its fragile and expensive fabrics. Excellent job of making the replica!

  • All the long and winding road to the dream dress reduced to 6 minutes!, you’re certainly incredible! I love how you recreated such a complicated ball dress from 0 to 100 % all by yourself. In top of it your ability to create didactical, enjoyable articles and your generosity by sharing them! T H A N K S B E L L A M A E !

  • Your replica is so beautiful! I absolutely love Cinderella’s dress! It’s everything I ever imagined in a princess dress when I was a child. I love perusal the skirts swish around while she’s dancing in it! I’m so glad you decided to dance in the dress too! I admire your dedication in recreating this beautiful dress (and also the financial aspect, omg). I hope your dress is displayed in a museum! Amazing!

  • Its amazing how magical one gown can be, certainly contributed to how we all fell in love with the movie. You did an excellent job recreating this dress, it’s certainly not an easy thing to recreate with all of those layers. But I finally learned what it was that gave this dress the right touch, the Japanese super organza. Thank you!

  • I loveeeeee this dress, it is so stunning!!! Before I got married, a bridal shop near my house had a version of it. I was going to buy it in white. They sadly went bankrupt 2 months before I was going to order mine. I fell in love with it when I first saw it on Cinderella. I want to wear this dress all day and, play dress up lol.

  • Absolutely STUNNING, a truly spectacular Cinderella dress and the workmanship( hope you don’t take offence at that) that has went into turning this fairytale into reality is a work of art, I hope that wherever this gown goes that it is treated with the respect it deserves and lasts forever. Thank you so very much for showing the time and skill that you put into making this work of art, you have created the one thing that so many little girls imagine that magical dress to look like. Sending crafty hugs, Norah, Glenochil Village, Scotland

  • When I saw this in the cinema I was in awe of the dress and how anyone could create it, it looks so amazing, I think even more amazing when you realise how much work went into it, I think it’s the most incredible dress, you should be incredibly proud, it looks the same as the one in the film, I love how when you spin the ruffles underneath just don’t seem to end, it truly does look magical

  • Wow! I sew and know the patience and persistence it had to have taken for all the steps, especially all the ruffles, but I would not have the skills/knowledge to do an undertaking of this kind. Never tear or spill anything on that dress!!! She obviously knew what she was doing in the design because something that invovled can go very wrong in so many of the different steps and fabrics! Incredible! I know you have to see this in person to be able to truly see the real beauty of it. Pictures just are not able to do thinks like this true justice.

  • I hope someday this dress ends up in a museum. It really is that perfect. I love how you were able to mimic the movement of the dress in the animation version of Cinderella. I didn’t think that would be possible, but you really did pull it off! My inner Disney princess little girl is crying over it. Lol

  • This made it all look like the process went so smoothly and easily😂 I still can’t believe how incredible the result is. It looks so beautiful onscreen, it makes me wonder how they were able to edit/cut down the footage of every scene the dress is featured. I think I would’ve just made the whole movie the ball scene! The crystals are so striking but my favorite part is how the skirt really dances. It moves so beautifully.

  • i literally skipped over the intro because i thought you were just showing the real dress from the film, but then i was like “wait, that guy looks different”, and then it hit me that that’s the dress that YOU made!!! i’m absolutely amazed at how you did this and just how authentic it looks. so gorgeous and incredible. awesome job!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this! I learned a lot! I was fortunate enough to be gifted some money from my grandfather who wanted to buy me a custom made wedding gown. This made me appreciate it even more because of all the time and hard work that goes into making it! Been two years since my wedding and I’m just as in love with it as I was the first time seeing it. This gown is so beautiful!! You are so incredibly talented! I admire how patient and detail oriented you and other seamstresses are because you take such care in making creations that stir up emotions and become part of our memories. My grandpa passed away 5 months ago, and I’m so fortunate he was able to see the gown he paid for before passing away. Thank you for sharing!

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Thank you for this article. I have a question: aside from the Cinderella’s working dress, is there any other Cinderella focused article? Like comparing/your thoughts on other versions of Cinderella? For me, the most iconic Cinderella of all time is Libuše Ĺ afránková from Three wishes for Cinderella (it’s an older Czechoslovak-German movie and I’m from the Czech republic, so that’s why)

  • Your skills are up there with the best of them. Your patience, tenacity & sheer hard work to see this through to the end is unbelievable, considering you did it all yourself from start to finish. To make the same in Australia with the cost of fabrics here, you’d have to sell an expensive car to afford so many of these materials. Dressmaking is such an expensive hobby in Australia. We wouldn’t get such a range of beautiful fabrics here either. I love sewing my own clothes, but the choice of fabrics are limited, and just so very expensive. Your dress is so very beautiful. I don’t know of anyone here with your knowledge & skill. I envy you this.

  • After over 400 hours of work, the selection of hundreds of yards of various gossamer, diaphanous fabrics, and factoring in your gigantic skill, this gown (WITH hand painted butterflies) is priceless. Never mind leaving a slipper behind, Cindy. Keep your shoes on and leave the dress!!!! Utterly beautiful. You sewed a cloud!

  • I dont’ know how this article ended up on my feed but I’m glad it did. Gorgeous work!! I’m not a sewer, but my late mother was . She would never sell what she made because she said ” people who don’t sew have no idea how much work is involved and you could never charge enough for it” She never made anything this fancy, but she would have appreciated your skill! Amazing !

  • I just stumbled upon your website today. I think you are brilliant, so talented…and an outstanding artist. The dress is one of the most beautiful…..completely delightful garments I’ve ever seen!! Absolutely amazing! …and PERFECT for a fanciful fairytale! I just LOVE IT! Thank you for making something so wonderful!

  • This dress is so mesmerizing to look at. I would’ve loved to try it on so much! It’s gorgeous with the blue-hue to it. I love the white crystals and the white diamonds added to the blue dress. I adore the colors of light, purple lilac mixed with blue, as well. It’s such a beautiful color to look at! Everything about this dress is beautifully made to look like Cinderella is wearing it. Cinderella is one of the sweetest Disney princesses to ever exist in movies. Cinderella also has one of the most beautiful dresses in live-action movies. <3 I was very excited about this movie and Cinderella's dress as soon as I saw this article being made on YouTube.

  • Oh my! You are so talented and patient I’ve been happily married for over 35 years so i wouldn’t be wearing a dress like this but I imagine you felt so amazing in your own creation! Well deserved i hope your talent greets recognised somehow in a large way. I’ve done my tiny bit by subscribing and liking obviously! Your talent is not just sewing but also by dramatic romantic and awesome you tube website creating! Well Done hun! Xxx

  • Unbelievable..!!!!! I am feeling such high respect for you, Thank you so much for inspiring me and so many other souls.. your dedication, hard work, devotion, attention to detail, perseverance is beyond admirable. This is one of the Best things I have seen on Internet in months..!!!!!! One can and should wear this at Oscars.. or Met Gala…..!!!!!!

  • I think that what makes Cinderella’s 2015 dress so perfect is the mesmerising sight of the skirt as it flows with each twirling movement. That’s a mark of how magical a dress can actually be when you love perusal the skirt. Just like we see here in your dress. The skirt movements are just captivating.

  • Omg I’m so glad I found your website, I’ll definitely be binge perusal all your articles especially the Cinderella ones. I loved perusal you make Cinderella’s ball gown, and perusal you recreate the dance scene made me grin with glee. Cinderella is my all time favourite Disney princess, but I especially love the live action version and can I just say, you did an amazing job of creating her ball gown. I know nothing about sewing or creating clothing, but that dress you made looks like the exact one from the movie. Welcome done! 👗😍

  • Words cannot possibly describe how much I have wanted this dress from the moment I saw it. Day and night I thought of this dress for months and I as a 14 and 15 year old saved up a couple thousand dollars to find one to get custom for my 16th birthday. But I would settle for nothing short of that dress and no one had anything that actually looked like it. I was devastated. I ended up in a much less expensive dress for the party but some part of me still dreams of one day paying you however much you want to make one more for me. Well, little girls can dream and I will never stop having the dream to be a princess
