Licensed Therapist, Andrea Brognano, goes over the signs you might be married and lonely. She also gives tips to help combat …
This is one message I need for my whole life. Being an introvert, I often feel lonely. I use to think its because of me, my attitude, my way of thinking, and also because I can’t stand small talks. But the truth is everyone is different and unique in their own way, you can only be you, not someone else. If this is how you’re meant to be than that’s how you will. Loneliness is beautiful only if you look at it in a way for you to be you yourself. Turning inwards ❤️. Thanks for this 🙏
Took me 45 years to understand the difference between loneliness and solute. It took me 45 years to understand being alone is an opportunity to work on yourself, study, learn, develop skill sets, exercise, and challenge your mind, body, and spirit. Its funny I no longer feel lonely when I am alone. But on rare occasions while at work I feel lonely around people. But I am starting to realize what I am doing wrong now and perusal your article now makes so much more sense.
My sister has tonnes of friends. All friends she met in primary school, senior school, college, work etc are still close friends of her. I never had large cliques of friends. I always had a few close friends. And my friends walked away from my time to time. My mother ridiculed me since I was a kid, that I’m so friendless. Meanwhile, my sister was admired for having so many friends. She said that if trouble comes, there’ll be no one to help me. However I have survived to be 39 now. In this country, people always do things in large groups. Solitary people like me are looked upon as failures. We are made to feel as if we were failures. But we are only being ourselves, responding to how others treat us, our way. That’s all. Thank you for this article and for the confirmation that being solitary is a good thing too.
I’m really really thankful for this website. Currently my life is not in the right track like and I’m emotionally so much damaged that I can’t even imagine and express my feelings to any one. This website, this young monk, his each and every article really makes me feel like I’m improving my emotions and gathering positive energy around me . Thank you so much.
Thanks Swamy 🙏 I feel lonely especially around the holiday times. Though I’m happy my imagination is everyone else is having a great time with their families and friends but I’m alone. I refuse to appreciate the blessings around me. This article seemed like it was a direct message for me. Will try better to practice this approach to life. 🙏
This is probably one of the most valuable Life Lessons and one that should be taught in secondary schools so that when people close to us leave, we don’t all get depressed, suicidal and hooked on medication to cope. Life is tough and the more equipped you are to deal with it when it fails you, like the lovely monk says, the better your journey through it will be.
Budusarani swamy❤ My love of life passed away 6months ago😢, she was my entire happiness and i tied everything to her, now after her departure im finding it hard to go on. I have been trying to keep going for the sake of living but everyday gets harder than each passing day. I would love to hear about grief and later life. If something will ever fix me. I hope this message will find you and find you well❤
So far I never feel lonely even I’m single. I felt not enough time and too many things need to be done. I spend most of my time working, meditation, listen to dharma, yoga, go temple, traveling, spending time with family, go outing with friends, appreciating and enjoy with natural beauty…list never end. May you take care of ourselves happily in a healthy way.
Thank you dear monk🙏🙏. I actually feel loneliness from childhood because my interest and habits were different from virtually all my peers. For instance, I am perhaps the only one among my entire class who takes Buddhism seriously. I have been a vegetarian from middle school on, and nobody else understood how I could have almost all my meals without meat. I understand that I will have to face loneliness, and my belief in Buddhism never changed. Thank you for telling me that I must hold the key to happiness in my hand🙏🙏
In my all of life lots peoples refused me ..without any reasons ..i was tried to be friendly with everyone ..but i dont know why ….they all disappointed me ..i was sad, cried, worried many times in my life because of i always had try to find happy from others ..but today i understood everything we have to find happy from ourself …its imagine nobody can stolen ..thx for make me realize by nomo budhdhaya….🙏🙏🙏
Today was a difficult day, but this is going to help me in some ways. I’m in a learning mode I try to learn the best I can from the good and bad days. Life is a gift in the end of the day, doesn’t matter in what situation you are, you are lucky to be alive and the rest of the issues in life shouldn’t be all your life it’s just part of it, don’t let that part represent or reflect you. Don’t let that little part be all you.
I do all of the above things you recommend daily. I am in good physical condition, have no health problems, and find that meditation, prayer, reading the Bible, drawing, writing, painting, reading and walking 5 miles a day, maintaining my home, not looking forward to landscaping my front lawn, cooking and preparing healthy foods certainly keeps me busy. I know that I would like to live in a more private area, so that I can paint landscapes in front of me, which I loved in New Mexico. I am a playful person and enjoy artistic people who are also playfully creative, productive and enjoy their lives. I would like to share a life with an honest, caring partner. You do get to know yourself by yourself. Thank you for this article.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF SEEING YOU, MAKES ME FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE AND PEACEFUL. I STARTED TO VIEW ONE OF YOUR article, THE EARLIEST ONE, AND ITS SO NICE AND OVERWHELMING, IN HEARING YOUR ADVICE, PREACHING & GUIDANCE. SO DURING THESE TWO WEEKS, I HAVE SEEN ALL YOUR articleS, AND WRITE DOWN ALL WHAT YOU SAID IN A NOTE BOOK. YOUR ADVICE HELPS ME TO UNDERSTAND AND LEARN THE VALUE OF LIFE. THANKS A LOT. I’M A CATHOLIC, BUT I KNOW I WILL CONTINUE TO VIEW AND LISTEN TO YOU. GOD BLESS YOU.
This is such a nice presentation. I would like to mention that I have learned to remind myself when I start feeling lonely, there are spirit guides and guardian angels all around me supporting me in my challenges. Without people around, I can listen more closely to the messages they are trying to send me. Without fail, I find the strength and the answers I need because we are never truly alone.
Ty for ur kind words… Bhanteji. 🙏🙏 I learned this With time, now here i am…. Being alone.. Makes me feel happy healthy, i can do more for me, i can learn alot. This doesn’t mean tht i left everyone..but it definitely means if you r alone at sometime… You actually are more with yourself. And without any extra efforts,Its peaceful . Stay blessed everyone. Namo buddhaya 🙏🌷🌷🌷🌼

Thank you kindly Bhante for your optimist words🌾 I am a solitary person and I enjoy it but for surviving in this world I have to participate. And it is good for beeing of benefit. I consider you and brothers as good friends, and your teachings of beneficial advice and protection,so the feeling of loneliness in crucial times cannot be overwhelming 🌾🌸 Many blessings for all your effort 🕯️ Thank you kindly, Namo Buddhaya 🛡️
I have always had trouble fitting in and feeling comfortable around others. I find that I want to be alone more often than not. Except that I have a toxic internal voice that tears me down and pulls up memories better left forgotten. I want to find inner peace but dont know how to silence this inner voice that hates my ego.
Thank you soo much for this valuable lesson. a min ago, my mind was filled with confusion why everyone leave, though i tried my best to keep them by my side and probably, i was getting depressed being alone. Then i was complaining to god, why it’s happening with me? A min later, i got this article. Thank you god !! for showing me a way to get through this feeling. I will try :” Finding happiness in solitude ” .🙏
I love being alone, most of the time. But sometimes my mind wanders about things that it shouldn’t. I’m not a smart person, but about some things I’m a genius. Things I wish I didn’t. When I do Yoga, I feel amazing afterwards and I don’t get distracted as much, or at all even. Meditation helps too. And a workout at the gym as well. I’m autistic, but that does not mean I don’t like to be social. I love time with friends. I just have a long charge up time before I can see them again. Even so, sometimes when i’m alone, i feel lonely. That is normal. When I have these moments I will think about what you said and make my time more valuable for me. I should love the time I have alone. I wouldn’t say that I’m a buddhist, but my faith lies close to it and I love buddhism. Thank you for your information.
loving your own company is not a bad thing and i think it’s the best thing one can do because in this world no one is permanent u r the only one who’s gonna be with urself so why don’t spend time with urself. Solitude is nothing to be worried about in fact people are afraid and jealous of people who can enjoy their own company and don’t need anyone to make them happy. No one is powerful than people who love being alone so we should learn to celebrate solitude because inner peace can come with this only nd no one knows u better than urself…
Great article ..I’m alone alot,my sister has my mom,my bro has my dad,my other brother has his family…my kids are grown on the own n have each other..I sometimes feel lonely…this article is great…I will use this time to better myself… reading, mixing music, learn more bout my drone, working out….thank you…great message
Sometimes I think if I was much better looking, there would be more social opportunities, and it makes me sad there aren’t more social opportunities for someone like myself. Thank you for this positive perspective on time spent alone. It’s more time for positive actions like meditation and meditative activities like painting. Again, thank you.
Yes, I’m Happy n Contented within myself..I feel lonely during the past but Learn Lessons Make decision to be Very Thankful Grateful n Love myself.. There are no one then Myself who can care my Heart ❤️❤️ Mind n Body.. Believe The Almighty is with Us n Move on in Life without any Regrets or Worries.. Follow the Flows.. always.. with a Smile 😊 Tqwm for sharing this Beautiful article.. God Bless You Guruji.. Namabudaya🙏
The loneliness I’ve been experiencing for years is of a different kind and nature. I suffer from both bipolar disorder and dysthymia. I have no support, and most people don’t believe me. Unfortunately, I also live in a third-world country. If my relatives knows about my illness, they label me as “overly sensitive” and think I’m exaggerating or that I chose to be this way. When I’m not manic, I’m constantly depressed. No matter how hard I try to get better, my environment doesn’t normalize. I’m surrounded by healthy, normal people. I envy them, so much. Seeing them makes me feel lonely and how far I am from the most ordinary things and how tired I am of fighting. I hope future generations don’t have to face such hard challenges as we have. I hope they have a safe haven to turn to. I hope they don’t feel as lonely as we do. I hope people like me are careful about continuing our lineage and don’t make decisions emotionally. After all, suffering begets suffering.
Being alone is the most scariest thought since I was a child. I am always longing for someone in my life. I once traveled to study abroad and I was so depressed alone that I came back home. I have this another opportunity but fear of living alone thousands of miles away from home and loved one is depressed me again. I was not able to eat well for a week. Solitude is really harsh.
Happiness is not always found being with other people … Sometimes, you can make your own happiness within tu your own self, tru your mindset and there’s actually advantage to be alone, you can discover your strength rather than your weakness ….. It’s natural to be sad when someone close to you departs from your life but we can always count on other whom you can talk to or have Faith and trust that God is there for you, you are not alone……thank you sir for your kind support to enlighten our hearts tru your motivational tips and advices on this helpful article.
Very nice explanation! Yes we can all do what we need when we are alone no one can question you, You do what you want, when you want happily! But don’t you think as a woman you need some nice person to rely on, talk your feelings out, I keep my self busy going out, going for walks, classes, etc. I love my company, but there is some thing missing! Yes you need that help in the house, it is not practical always! Thankyou !
Hoping for best people around me always lead me to toxic circles againand again whenever i thought it was best afterall it showed true color all left all gone again same life no change all efforts worthless so i stopped Hoping for good company freinds its not for me life never changed 😢😢😢 but i feel motivated with your words 🙏🙏🙏
