How many hours to make a 3 tier wedding cake?

Baking and decorating cakes. I have to clean my kitchen and line the cake tins before I can start baking. Baking a wedding cake takes 8-12 hours. This depends on the number of flavors, ingredients, and extra prep. Cleaning up also takes time. I let cakes rest overnight so they’re ready for cutting, levelling, filling, and covering the next morning. On the second day, I cover cakes in ganache and fondant. On the third day, I add decorations like wafer paper and chocolate decorations. On the third day, I dowel cakes for stacking and finish decorating them.

Talking with suppliers. I speak to suppliers to arrange delivery and set up. I make sure I deliver and set up the cake at the same time as the florist if flowers are needed for the setup. I arrive after any carpet or special flooring has been laid, before decorating has been done. I confirm with planners and venues that a table will be available and set up for the cake to be displayed on. Some weddings have lots of suppliers, so it’s like being in a military operation! Delivery and set up. I deliver cakes to venues in London and as far away as 3-4 hours. Setting up a wedding cake takes 1-3 hours. It depends on the decorations. Sometimes the cake needs a table to be put on. Some venues need the table dressed when I arrive. Some setups ask me to dress the table and arrange candles, flowers, and foliage around the cake. I need to make sure I arrive at the same time as the florist for the event. Once the cake is set up, I can relax and enjoy it. This is my favorite part. I also like seeing photos of couples with their wedding cakes.
