The best edible flowers for cake decorations include roses, violets, pansies, and lavender.
To decorate a cake with edible flowers, follow these steps:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Add sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, butter, oil, milk, vanilla, and almond extract to a stand mixer. Mix the milk, vanilla, and almond extract in on medium low speed. Nasturtium flowers are perfect for vibrant designs, ranging in color from bright red, orange, yellow, to almost white. Leaves can also be used.
3. Prepare the next layer of petals using the middle shade of pink. Dampen petals and stick them evenly around the flower. Repeat the previous step using the palest flowerpaste, placing the petals alternately to the previous layer.
4. Finish the dripped effect by dusting the drips and adding dragees to give a teardrop pearl effect.
5. Stack the cakes by adding a third tier, a 5″ round by 5″ tall dummy, adding the same effect as the bottom tier.
Fresh edible flowers on wedding cakes are stunning and a cheaper alternative to fancy sugar work. They are more contemporary, smell wonderful, and have an earthy feel.
For pressed foliage, use leaves, greenery, and foliage to create a beautiful wildflower meadow feel. For whole stems, let the rose petals dry in the spoons for 15-20 minutes before brushing the lower half of the petals with Tylo glue and arranging them around the rose.
In conclusion, using edible flowers on wedding cakes is a cost-effective and visually appealing way to add color and texture to any cake.
