How To Make Homemade Mints For A Wedding?

This recipe for Cream Cheese Mints (also known as Wedding Mints) is a variation of a grandmother’s recipe and can be made in just minutes. The ingredients include cream cheese, butter, peppermint, powdered sugar, and food coloring. The recipe allows for easy customization by adding different flavors, colors, or shapes to suit any occasion.

To make the mints, combine the ingredients in a large mixing bowl or mixer, then add the mint flavoring and food coloring of your choice. Beat the butter, cream, salt, peppermint oil, and ¾ cup of powdered sugar in a Kitchenaid until smooth and creamy. Slowly add the remaining powdered sugar, scraping the sides of the bowl.

In a separate bowl, mix the butter, confectioners sugar, cream, and extracts. Divide the dough into portions so that you can dye each portion a different color. Add a few drops of food coloring to the dough and stir until it is uniform in color. Dust a baking sheet with powdered sugar and cover the dough with a damp paper towel to prevent drying.

In a separate bowl, beat the butter, heavy whipping cream, salt, pepper extract, and 1 cup of powdered sugar. Mix on low speed until well combined. If the mixture is too dry and crumbly, add a half teaspoon of water to the bowl. Knead the ingredients several times, roll the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, chill 2 hours, roll into small balls, dip them in sugar, and press them into molds. If mints stick to the mold, knead more powdered sugar.

This recipe is perfect for adding a homemade touch to weddings, graduations, showers, and holiday gatherings. The ingredients are simple and can be customized to suit any occasion.

  • For those asking about using regular sugar, you can but you’d have to doctor it. First, run it through a blender until it is powder fine, that’s what’s called caster sugar. Then you’d add corn starch (corn flour in the UK), you’d have to google the proportions because I don’t know them offhand. And that would be the only way you could use regular, aka granulated sugar.

  • I’ve been craving this so out of curiosity I looked up how to make them. I didn’t expect it to be this easy but also I had falsely assumed there was cooking involved. My question is how long do these last once made and how come they aren’t unsafe to eat when they contain perishables that usually need refrigeration? I’m just curious. These look amazing

  • Great recipe. Just one thing – when I went to roll out the strips it was not stiff enough. I started to put in the fridge to see if that mike make a difference, however then I looked online at some other recipe/comments and they said to add more conf. sugar. That’s what I did and blended it with mixer. I am wondering if you have ever had that experience where the dough was not hard enough and what do you do? (I used the 4 cups, as listed in the recipe).
