Packing for an Indian wedding can be overwhelming, as it includes heavy traditional clothes, jewelry, makeup, and casual wears. To simplify things, create a checklist for all items to take with you, check the weather of the city where you are going, and create a customized Indian wedding packing list for the bride and groom.
Organize your packing by discussing priorities with your partner, both families, and coming to a decision. Choose the right luggage and bags for your trip to India, with a reasonable donation between $50 and $100 per person. For temple weddings, give between $51 and $81, as they can cost anywhere from $30k to $50k.
Pack your bridal makeup kit and emergency items, creating a sample bag to show helpers what to put in each bag. Create a welcome bag for guests checking into the hotel, and have each person distribute one item into each bag.
Individuals should pack outfits for every function, including accessories, jewelry, and specific shoes. Check the weather of the city where you are going to pack, and consider the meaning behind traditional Indian wedding guest attire.
In summary, packing for an Indian wedding can be overwhelming, but it is essential to organize and prioritize essential items.

You also can’t forget the “back-up” dresses for various reasons, whether it be someone else in your close circle didn’t bring one dress/brought the wrong one, when you get invited to dinner after all the official events are over or when some obscure relative from the other side invites EVERYONE to their house. My favorite is trying on all the dresses and having a mini fashion show in front of your mirror to make sure everything fits and looks good because most of these gowns would be new if I decided to wear them to a wedding. All the complications make for an amazing experience, though. I love being desi 😀
I feel like typing this so bear with me. This is what the marriage process looks like in some parts of Pakistan. (continue to read if you want) *Johra- mostly only close relatives and local old women. people come to the groom’s side to see what clothes or gifts they got collectively for the bride. It’s the day before mehendi so many commonly wear their moderately new simple clothes. Not many come to this or are invited. *Mehendi- day of prep for the bride and groom. Bride’s side is slightly more of a bigger role where I live due to the many preps they have like turmeric and mehendi applications. Relatives come to celebrate mostly at evening by performing mini dances. Usually is hosted at bride’s parents house for bride side and groom’s house for groom side. Sometimes done at a marriage hall or a relatives house. It can be held at day but the night is usually the best bc it’s when the real applications and prep begin. Both sides usually provide dinner for the guests. relatively old fancy clothes are worn. The common colors for the bride are yellow, orange and green. Mostly close fam and friends are invited. *Barat- The actual day of the marriage. In recent days, it’s commonly held at a marriage hall. Its the day where more performances are made and lunch is served. Commonly known as the food race amongst some places 😂 Its the day where the bride finally comes to the groom and sign papers ! Then off they go to groom’s house. The common colors for the bride are green, gold, silver and red.

I’m not Indian, but I love their culture and traditions. I’ve always told myself that if I ever got married I’d have a traditional Indian or Indian style wedding. It would be so colorful and lively and fun. I could invite everyone I wanted to and not leave anyone out because the guest lists are so massive.
i would love to attend a traditional Indian wedding. My aunty (in-law) had one when she married my uncle but i was too young so i was only taken to the ‘church wedding’ they had before the 4 days traditional lol so basically my aunty has 5 wedding dresses? or i think 6, if you include the girls day they had before hand >Completely different to a bachelorette party, according to my aunties and mother hahah<
