The grooms cake is a traditional wedding tradition that dates back to the Victorian era, where it was intended to be shared with the groomsmen. Nowadays, it is either served at the rehearsal dinner or after the wedding. The time to serve the grooms cake depends on factors such as the number of guests expected at the wedding and the budget. Grooms cakes can cost anywhere from $50-$1,000, depending on the level of complexity, size, and the bakery in which they are purchased from. They are often decorated to reflect the couple’s love for each other and show that they are listening when discussing topics like birdies and drives on the golf course.
There are no set rules for cutting or serving the grooms cake; couples can follow tradition and have slices individually boxed for guests to take home or serve them with the wedding cake. The grooms cake can be displayed alongside the brides cake or displayed independently depending on the size and theme. Couples can also display the grooms cake on a separate table, on the bar, or even presented as a surprise to the groom during the reception (typically during toasts).
The grooms cake can be served at the reception or alongside the main wedding cake either for consumption or simply as a dessert. It is usually considered proper for the grooms cake to be served separately from the brides. The grooms cake can be served at the wedding reception alongside the wedding cake or make an appearance at the rehearsal dinner as a dessert.
In summary, the grooms cake is a versatile and delicious wedding tradition that can be served alongside the brides cake or separately from the wedding cake. It is important to consider the couple’s preferences and budget when planning a wedding.

Order enough cake to serve your guests, but not too much. One slice of the bride’s cake and half a slice of the groom’s cake per guest is a common calculation for wedding cakes. If you have 100 guests, you need 100 slices of the bride’s cake and 50 slices of the groom’s cake. However, some guests may decline a cake slice, so you can usually get away with ordering enough cake for 80% of guests. This includes all the cake you order, whether you do one or two cakes. Ask a professional baker for advice.

How much money do the groom’s parents give?
The parents of the groom are expected to contribute to eight aspects of wedding preparations. They have a lot to do. In the past, the groom’s parents only hosted the rehearsal dinner and led him down the aisle. Now, they do much more. A recent poll found that grooms’ parents pay up to 24% of wedding costs. The groom’s parents have many wedding planning responsibilities. Here’s what the groom’s parents pay for.

Do people still do a groom’s cake?
Over time, wedding cakes have changed, and so have groom’s cakes. Some see them as a long-standing tradition, while others see them as a way for grooms to express themselves. It’s not unusual to see a cake shaped like a college football helmet or covered in camouflage icing or decorated with the groom’s favorite bottles of booze. But in 2023, when weddings can be as creative as the couple wants, a tradition that was once about finding a spouse is becoming less popular. Jenean Carlton has been baking since high school and opened Carltons Cakes in Atlanta in 2015. Carlton is a Southerner and a fan of the tradition because many Southern weddings are about the bride. “I hate it when the groom says, ‘It doesn’t matter.’” “Whatever you think,” Carlton says. “I want them to go for it because it’s their last chance to have some say in the wedding.” Carlton also likes making groom’s cakes as a baker. She says they let her be more creative and use her skills as a sculptor and artist. She can airbrush character art onto a World of Warcraft cake or make ice cubes out of sugar for a beer cake. “It’s a place to do something different,” she says. “You can be very unique.”

Beautiful cake, but wow! Where did she come from? When you order by the slice and pay upwards of $15.00 per person, you would never want to lose that much cake. I have been working weddings and events for 15 years and she needs to take a class! (I teach one in wedding coordination and design if she is perusal)
Call me cheap, but i would be appalled if someone hacked up my expensive wedding cake. When i cut one of my customer’s wedding cake,i use the Wilton cutting method as a guide to get the maximum amount of servings out of each tier. Round tiers are more of a challenge to serve than a square tier, but not so difficult that you have to sacrifice half of a cake!
Why not just slice wedges? You can still make thin, even slices as wedges and your guests can see the beautiful design. Otherwise the couple could have just used a decorative styrofoam cake with a small real cake on top, then serve slices of a cheap cake. The guest doesn’t get any of the beautiful design!
This isn’t showing how to cut a wedding cake at all. All she’s doing is cutting huge slices from the cake. Here’s how it actually works: The groom puts his hand on top of the bride’s hand and they cut the slice together, then they put it on the plate and feed each other. After the bride and groom eat their slices then they serve their family and then friends afterward. They don’t cut the slices this huge either, only small to medium.
So wastefull, what a shame… First of all, pulling out the pliers kinda sucks the romance out of the whole moment. Also, who cares if one slice is bigger than the other? I would just cut it so that everybody gets a piece and the guest can actually enjoy some of the expensive exterior of the cake, rather than throwing that away and being left with sponge and some cream.
What you say makes sense and there are other articles on YouTube demonstrating the ‘circles’ method you described. No need at all for the wasteful cutting the cake into a square nonsense you demonstrated in the article. I’d be horrified to pay extra to have my cake butchered and wasted the way you demonstrated and you saying that’s the reason why wedding cakes are so expensive is just laughable, who are you kidding?
People are fucking starving and you just toss those pieces of cake away like it’s nothing, people would kill for something to eat.. I hope you eat them and don’t really discard them.. Plus a waste because the cake designer worked hard for that design and no one gets to see/eat the design. You can just easily slice the cake in wedges instead of wasting it and making such a big hassle of it, it’s really not that hard to make wedges even..
