Is the knight in For Honor a girl?
You can play as a male or female knight or Viking. The Samurai have a female and male protagonist. EDIT: You’re playing as a knight, not a famous one. Deal with it. Why did you make the protagonist of the knights a female? There were no female knights in the 8th-12th century. Why is the protagonist of the other two factions female too? Is the feminist faction that strong? Did you think this would get you free publicity and a scandal? You know the knightly warrior is a female. Joan of Arc was a military leader who never became a knight. She never fought with her own two hands. Joan of Arc is one of many female leaders who are overhyped for entertainment. Cleopatra VII, Twosret, Hatshepsut, Nefertiti, Sobekneferu, and Merneith were all female pharaohs who came to power through various forms of political manipulation. They couldn’t compete with men, and they had little chance of survival. The women who succeeded were not aggressive or disagreeable. They were suductive and manipulative.

Jesper breaks the first deal of the game the first chance he gets, Jesper gets 100% of all other deal offers for the rest of the game. Alright. Also, STRIP THE CRADLE. Like what other reason is there to even have a strip mine? God to make this comment I paused the article and it just happens to be on a shot of cradle on the table, strip mine tapped for mana, and strip mine owner has a basic swamp untapped. How many times did this happen I wonder.
I feel like threat assessment in this game wasn’t done very well. As soon as Sisay was left on the board in favor of the Sol Ring, I knew this game wasn’t going to go well… ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS: Something we don’t see (but we do in real life) is the pre-game discussion between players about which decks they’re using and if they’re at the right power-level for each other. It’s a vital part to help ensure someone doesn’t sit in the corner twiddling their thumbs. It’s been discussed on the website in the past but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that pre-talk discussion. It’s a challenge in itself and it might add an interesting element. Please note this is not a bash at Jesper, how he played or CEDH or high-tuned decks. He played very well and the deck was beautiful (except for the stax). And, as people have said in the comments, travelling over from certain countries with their favourite decks means limiting which decks you can travel with. As Kyle said a while ago, if everyone is playing CEDH decks, then there’s no confusion about the power level. I’m very guilty of seeing certain commanders and going “Ach! Hans, Run!” and spending bit too much time focusing on it. While Yuriko is (for good reason) scary, I’ve seen more top tier CEDH decks built with Thrasios & Tymna than I’ve seen casually built ones. Seeing only a few further cards (like the Stax and Sisay) should have been clear indicators that they needed to focus their efforts.
I dunno if you guys were avoiding picking on the special guest too much, but I am surprised that hostage taker did not take thron and that strip mine did not IMMEDIATELY destroy cradle. Especially that second thing. Picking on him? Sure. But he is playing a T&T stax deck, one should plan to be unpopular lol
The Tymna and Thrasios deck is not a cedh deck, but high level casual deck. If it is a cedh deck you will see: 1. the 4 most expensive counterspells (Force of Will, Mana Drain, Fierce Guardianship, Force of Negation) protecting the combo pieces 2. Lots of tutors 3. infinite mana combo to draw entire deck with Thrasios and cast Thassa’s Oracle for the win 4. Demonic Consultation and Thassa’s Oracle for the win 5. Game over by turn 4 or 5. Nevertheless stax pieces are also played in CEDH table (usually to stop or slow down the combo player), but are usually played in Derevi or Commanders in Azorius colours.
This honestly feels like threat assessment didn’t exist when it comes to the guest, especially considering how T&T Hatebears is such a vastly different tier over everyone else’s jank. Jimmy literally couldn’t do anything, Ashlen got a few triggers but wasn’t allowed to do much and Josh was semi-threatening but kept focusing on both Jimmy and Ashlen. This seems like what you’d see from a pubstomp complaint thread.
I feel like I just watched a Mario Kart race where 3 people had blue shells and refused to throw them… Hostage Taker, Font of Agonies, Strip Mine. Of these 3 removal options off the top of my head after perusal this game, 2 of them were used on Ashlen who at no point in this game was in a dominant board position. The other was Ashlen’s card and just not used. I get it, she wins quite a bit, but I feel like there was some EXTREME misreads on the threat assessment this game. And I mean, Ashlen, Jesper spent legit half the game smacking you in the face :(. Strip mine him. Between Jesper getting away with just beating on Ashlen all game and Josh backing down when Jesper threatened him, like… even politically, this game felt off.
Just had to throw this in here late, but Jesper really won me over back in Lorwyn with his art and has been probably my favorite fantasy artist ever since. I don’t have the funds to back the kickstarter as of now but I want to let you know that I LOVE you Jesper, and I’m happy you got to be a spotlight here. Keep making insane art buddy!
This may be the most frustrating game of commander I’ve ever seen them play. I still feel like this is not scripted, but they were waaaay too deferential to their guest. I call conflict of interest with the playmat art deal they have; but if I were Jesper I wouldn’t want them to pull punches, especially when he rolls in with a griefy-style, ‘you can’t have fun’ deck. You can tell its Jesper’s ‘go to’ deck as he pilots its many interactions fast and anticipates having Gaddock Teague out later, so he names Toxic Delgue with his Meddling Mage; He knows that in serious Black decks, (and all three opponents were in that color) one of the few popular answers that would have dismantled his board would have been Toxic Deluge. He had to figure all 3 tuned decks had it. To everyone’s credit, they all lived up to the billing and brought serious, tuned decks – even though Jimmy never really got off the ground. No ‘Bear Force One’ BS here sneaking in from behind for the win. Key takeaways: 0) Danger Will Robinson – its T&T… and hate bears? Sounds like a kick in the junk – be very wary. 1) STRIP MINE THAT CRADLE! I knew it was probably all over when the Sword of F&F came out and the Strip Mine was tapped. 2) I can’t believe Captain Sissay lasted as long as she did! 3) Jesper goes back on his word, or at least tries to rules-lawyerly parse it. CAN’T BE TRUSTED. Lessons should be taught. In the interests of keeping him in check, Josh still should have gone through with his threat and jammed him – both a moral lesson and to set him back as he was just as scary as everyone else at this point.
Ashlen was unfairly teamed up on. It seems Jesper picked her as a target from the beginning which is fine but then Jimmy taking her Sol Ring and Josh jumping in attacking her. There was no way she’d be able to fight off all 3 players meanwhile Jesper is building up his board tutoring for his best cards with Sisay unopposed. She never even got another ninja out other than Yuriko. #JusticeForAshlen
Ouch, that Thrasios/Tymna deck was pretty damn strong. Felt almost like perusal cEDH, although they let him do his thing a bit too much. But seemed to be a bit above the power level of the rest of the table. But in the end it doesn’t matter, was still a great game! P.S.: Shows again why i personally do not like Stax decks. But everyone has a different taste 😀
So I get that he was the guest and all. but the fact that Jesper was playing the Cedh dream team in a deck that cost more than my collage tuition; plus everyone hard targeting Ashlen until she couldnt even do anything while Jesper had a dominate board state really bothered me. EDH is definitely not a pay to win format except for exceptions like this where you really see the difference in a 2000$ plus deck vs 3 500$> decks. I Usually like episodes like this but I feel like threat assessment and power levels were not taken into account on this one.
I could feel the heat from Josh in response to Jesper’s deck and playstyle. There were some basic rules that were broken by Jesper in this game: 1) Keep your word when you make a truce. 2) If you make a bad play, no take backs, unless everyone agrees, 3) Play a deck that fits the power level and tone of your play group.
Ok that was awesome. I’m a huge fan of jesper’s art. But that not with standing I really enjoyed this episode. And what a great way to get people like Jesper out into the community. Maybe there’s a writer artist cos player anything I don’t know about. I think seeing them in here is a fantastic way to help promote this community. Jimmy and josh you guys are so awesome. Respect for all you do.
I’m gonna chime in here. I have hosted a weekly EDH game night for many years running. I’ve played hundreds of games and played against 20+ different people. From experience I can tell you that the new guy at the table gets beat on less than everyone else, CONSISTENTLY. It is a thing. We are comfortable in beating down our friends that we know wont be upset taking multiple excruciating hits to the face. We naturally pull our punches against opponents we are unfamiliar with. I’ve seen it many times.
Play a commander game with 8 people, but what I mean by 8 people is that 4 of them are COMPLETELY new to MTG while the other 4 are veterans of MTG, its the veterans job to guide and teach the newbie to winning the Commander deck game. I feel like you guys will be the people to pull this off more than anyone else.
I think they misplayed Greven’s ability by discounting the strength buffs added every time the controller’s turn ended.\r The card says it gets +X/+0 whenever you lose life this turn.\r It never makes it clear that strength buffs are removed at the end of the turn.\r Strength boosters should stick permanently with the card unless some change is made that “resets” the card or similar.
the Greven deck is so damn fun to watch! Sad the “be nice with guest” attitude let him slip away with the victory though. Guests should be treated just as any other player. What’s the fun in playing if you know you’ll win by default, because everyone is just being a tad too nice to you! Still… more extra tun is gold! So keep this up!
Jasper’s upside down lands was truly distracting this entire game. I also predict scroll rack is going to spike after seeing not 1 but 2 in play this game. It was awesome seeing Josh and Jimmy play their own personal decks. It’s not every game you see Josh take damage from Mana crypt. And good God all those dual lands in this game!
There are always games where you miss details. I for one was so happy to see Yesper on the show, im sure he just brought a deck and they managed to get a game in, so of course the balance isn’t up to game knights standard. However the gameplay is still pretty damn cool for me to watch as a casual player who occasionally has to go up against more competitive decks.
Acturally a little sad that Jesper didn’t Play his Sek’kuar Deathkeeper deck, that he talked about in the podcast episode he guested on 🤔🤔 well played though, as a fellow contryman i salute you! 🤘🤘🤘 Jesper! Du er for vild, klart en af de bedste magic artists derude! Godt arbejde med playmatten, tror jeg skal backe min første kickstarter 😁👍
Rules question, at 37:42 the sword trigger goes off after Jimmy is killed. Since the discard and land untap are tied to the same effect, and the player who needed to discard is no longer alive for the discard to resolve, wouldn’t that stop the land untap portion of the effect? Great episode as always, thank you for the fast turnaround on this episode!
Fright Night was the first movie I watched as a kid that made me think that vampires were really cool. I still like that film alot. Seeing Marcy from “Married With Children” as a teen is still a bit trippy. Pet Sematary is the first film that I remember really creeping me out a bit. I saw it in the theater, I was very impressed with the film. It was my favorite for a while. I couldn’t stand Stand By Me. I just remember being very bored perusal it. I have to watch that one again as an adult now.
Watch Mojo really needs to go back and do some more research on this topic. I can think of 5 movies off of the top of my head that could all crack the Top 5 and are all set in the 80’s, because all but 1 were made in the 80’s. First there’s Trick or Treat, the one with Ozzy. It’s an awesome 80’s HORROR flick, instead of the family films you put on your list. Next there’s The Gate. This movie is about demonic possession in their house and the children have to stop it. Next there’s The Hole. This is the only one I’ve picked that was made more recently but it’s definitely a throwback to the 80’s and there’s a clown in it. Night of the Demons is one of the best 80’s horror films and is about several teens going to an abandon house to party but it turns out they are not alone. Great effects for the time and the low budget. Lastly I pick Clown House. This movie is about a few young teen boys who are stalked by killer clowns and have to learn to face their fears. A couple honorable mentions are Night of the Creeps, Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2, and EMELIE.
HOLY SHIT, first one on the list – was NOT expecting “Lady In White” to even be on here!!! WatchMojo is A+++ today, such an underrated and unknown horror/thriller. Yaaassss for Stand By Me, The Goonies, and honorable mention of Children of the Corn. How was Monster Squad missing though, especially when it’s currently streaming on Hulu???!!! :p
