How To Weigh Down Wedding Arch?

To stabilize and weigh down a wedding arch, place two buckets filled with rock or cement near the base of the metal arch. For a floral arch, use cable ties to secure two pieces of floral foam to the opposite corners of the triangular wooden arch. The perfect arch should be between 7 and 8 feet tall and about.

Build your dream wedding arch by using a wood base and creating the base for your DIY flower arch. Use flower mud to cover the entire arch pillar, place foliage leaves in the flower muds, add more straggler leaves to the foundation, fill in spaces with flowers, and finish. Hook the loop into your carabiner and adjust the wraps to ensure the right tension on your stand.

Mark out U-notches for your wedding arch (creating lap joints) and attach the legs to each corner of the top frame. Place one of the longer pieces 80 inches long perpendicular to each corner of the top frame and drill these pieces into place using the wooden screws.

In a windy environment, weigh down each base to avoid the arch being knocked or blown over. Use tent pegs (on grass) or sandbags on solid surfaces to anchor the arch. Make fabric bags to put sandbags in and arrange around it. Secure to umbrella bases with the hole in between the openings.

Add weight, like sand bags, to the feet and cover them with carpet or something. Make a pair of box-like bases as part of your wedding ceremony.

In summary, stabilizing and weighting down an arch is crucial for ensuring its stability and safety during a wedding ceremony.

  • I recently started crafting with balloons, I’m a Disabled Veteran and a father of 3, so I figured with all my “at home” time now, this would be a good hobby to keep me busy with the added plus of entertaining the family too!! Your articles are awesome, and have taught me a lot in a little amount time! So I just wanted to say thank you. You are helping me put a smile on my kids(and my wife’s) faces every day!

  • I made one for my wedding with two parallel arches so that when we hung fabric, their was dimension to it. But I recommend making it least 2-3 feet wider than Jamie’s example because you will have 3 people standing in front of it and it will look better in pictures if the bride, groom and officiant are all framed in the arch.

  • hi Jamie first and foremost I love perusal your articles you always make me smile with your amazing personality. I am in the uk and am 18 months away from my wedding and would love to know when the best time before the wedding would be to hire transportation. I am thinking of having a hummer limo as so I can fit all my people in one car after the ceremony to go to the venue. thanks for all your great advice and keep the articles coming oooh and also I love your personal vlogs you are an amazing family. • First off, I LOVE your website and I have shared it with so many of my friends planning their weddings. Second, I have been having a lot of struggles with planning the rehearsal dinner. I have only been to 2 rehearsal dinners in my life and I am confused at what the expectations are. We are having a backyard wedding and thus I am thinking we will have a backyard rehearsal dinner. My FH’s sister is planning it and asking so many questions around what we want to eat, if we want servers, if we want a restaurant and I just don’t know what the logistics are. As well as, I do not understand what I should be asking for. Can you create a article about the rehearsal dinner do’s and don’ts, what to keep in mind while planning and other logisitcs?

  • This is unrelated to this article, but I would love a article on engagement rings. I’m not completely in love with the ring my fiancé proposed to me with. I have been looking online (mostly on etsy) and have fallen in love with some really beautiful, affordable rings. My question is: how do I broach this topic without hurting his feelings? How do I know if online sellers are trustworthy? I know you (Jamie) have a moissanite ring (that is gorgeous btw), was that the one your husband proposed with or did you pick it out? Please help!!!

  • This is awsome as i am looking to make my own but have been questioning the size i want to make it. I am looking to make a curtain wall to go behind where we will be standing for the ceremony and then relocate it for behind the bridel table at the reception. Do you think it would be better to stay with the 7feet tall or would you go taller? Open to any suggestions.

  • My wedding is this December (Christmas/winter) theme. I would love to have a wood backdrop but renting how much I need would be around $1000. We are getting married at his church and the stage is WAY too big (the whole choir can fit behind the instruments) so we want to block some of it off. What do you think of the idea using a arch like this (9 ft high and 14 ft wide) and using a wood vinyl backdrop, like a photography backdrop? We can get that for about $40. Do you think it would look tacky?

  • Jamie, how would you recommend asking wedding guests to be COVID vaccinated prior to attending? Is that something I could put on an invitation, and how would I go about making sure that they actually did it? My wedding is next year so there’s ample time for everyone to get vaccinated, but I’ve been reading up about the vaccine and it might have to be an annual dosage. I would like to still have a somewhat large wedding while ensuring the safety of everyone involved. Thanks!!
