However, the dog beach is not a dog-friendly beach.

Honeymoon Island State Park, located just outside of Tampa, offers over four miles of beach and three miles of trails. The park follows the same rules as other state parks in Florida and is open from 8 am to sundown, 365 days a year. The beach is undeveloped and ungroomed, stretching for four miles against the calm, blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. You can bring a cooler and food. No alcohol at Florida state parks. You can enjoy beer or wine at one of the restaurants on Honeymoon Island. You can buy alcohol, but you have to drink it on the patio. Restrooms are available at the beaches, nature center, and playground. You can rent kayaks, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and 4-wheeled tricycles at the cafes. The hidden, picturesque half-moon-shaped beach is about 50 metres wide and perfect for a refreshing swim. But be careful as it can be dominated by rips, hidden rocks and large waves. Honeymoon Bay is the most famous of the four small beaches near Cape Moreton. These beaches are great for exploring and usually deserted. Bring a picnic to Honeymoon Bay and surprise your friends and family with a remote picnic at a private beach. How to find Honeymoon Bay. Honeymoon Bay is near the north point of the island. The walk is about 2km from Cape Moreton, so allow about 30 minutes (60 minutes return). The walk starts at the road near Cape Moreton, then through the campgrounds and on to a track that leads to a gully behind the beach. When you go to Honeymoon Bay, wear sturdy shoes, bring water, and use sunscreen. The hidden beach is shaped like a half-moon and about 50 metres wide. It’s a great spot for a swim, but be careful not to go too far out as Honeymoon Bay can be dangerous.
