Who owns Honeymoon Island?

After the war, the popular honeymoon spot was in ruins. In 1956, Arthur Vining Davis bought the land and sold it to Robert E. Lee in 1958. The company wanted to build a free bridge from Curlew Road to the island in exchange for a permit to fill the island with residential units. However, in 1969, the permit expired, and the state bought the land in 1974 to turn the island into the Honeymoon Island State Recreation Area in 1981. The state park offers locals and tourists a three-mile nature trail for biking and hiking. You can also watch birds, including eagles, ospreys, and owls. The island is also great for swimming, fishing, and shelling. There is even a dog beach.
