JonTron, an American YouTuber and social critic, was found dead at age 54. Jacques, a parrot, is currently in retirement but still lives with Jon. His hiatuses are not uncommon as he often disappears and reappears online, where he has a significant following. Jon has always been decently transparent, so it is not unfathomable that if Jon were to ever end JonTron and Jacques, they would be featured less because as a bird, it is too much of a distraction when filming.
In the last Q&A Jon did, he got asked about the same question and said Jacques is featured less because as a bird, it is hard to keep him still, he is too much of a distraction when filming. Jacque, a made-up name for the bird, survived Vietnam and is good. The egg is likely alive and being cared for, and if you can, shine a light on the egg in a dark room. If you’re incubating an egg, watch for signs of movement.
There is also a small possibility that the birds who played Paulie are still alive today, as they were played by 17 Blue-crowned conures. Jacques made a surprise appearance in 2019 for JonTron’s JACQUES EXPOSED? video promoting his limited edition Youtooz vinyl figurine, thus confirming Jacques’s existence.
In conclusion, JonTron, an American YouTuber, comedian, and media reviewer, is known for his unique and entertaining content.

How many birds does Jontron have?
Cinnamon is one of Jon’s two parrots. Like Jacques, Cinnamon is a green-cheeked conure, a Cinnamon color morph. She makes her debut in the last Jontron update. Cinnamon is more aggressive than Jacques. She often bites and bullies Jacques. She bites Jacques’ cere with her sharp beak, which makes him uncomfortable. Jon says the two birds like each other, and Cinnamon is the dominant one. Jon also gets distressed by her sharp beak. He saw her bite him in the update video and had a bite wound on his nose. He talked about it in his Counter-Strike video. The Durst Offensive video. Cinnamon doesn’t appear in many episodes of JonTron. She appears in Japanese shoot ’em ups in the Harmful Park segment. Jon retaliates after being killed by a Frankenstein monster by bringing out Jacques and Cinnamon, who fire laser eyes at the screen. She also appears at the end of Titanic.
What is the lifespan of a conure?
We don’t know how long wild sun conures live. They haven’t been studied much because they live in hard-to-get-to places. Sun conures in the US live for about 15 to 30 years. Sun conures are smart and curious. They need to learn and explore. Rotate different ladders, swings, and perches in their cage. Give them bird-safe toys made of wood, plastic, or leather. Some favorites are puzzle toys, foraging toys, and chew toys. Sun conures also like baths, so give them a mister or a shallow bowl of water. When a conure molts, it can be grouchy. Bathing makes them feel better. Warm, humid air helps them shed feathers.
Did JonTron quit Game Grumps?
00:00:00 In this section, the focus is on the history of Flash and its significance in shaping online entertainment. Before YouTube, sites like Newgrounds and Albino Blacksheep dominated the internet with their animated content and games, which achieved a cult-like status among viewers. Animation was a big part of the early years of the modern internet, with most animations being made by one person from their bedroom. This community opened the door for many talented creators in the world of online entertainment, including Jon Jafari and Arin Hanson, who would later become the Game Grumps.; 00:05:00 In this section, the video talks about the rise to fame of Arin Hanson, also known as Egoraptor, and Jon Jafari, known as JonTron, both of whom are prominent comedy YouTubers. Arin rose to fame with his unique, and sometimes controversial, animations on Newgrounds, with one of his most popular animations being Metal Gear Awesome. On the other hand, Jon was known for his comedic reviews of games and movies, with his channel JonTron amassing over a billion views, making him one of the most recognizable comedy YouTubers in the world. Arin and Jon became friends after Arin fell in love with Jons videos, and they started the Game Grumps show together as a result of an argument they had over whether or not the Wolf from Super Smash Bros. Brawl was too similar to the character Fox.; 00:10:00 In this section, it is explained that Jon and Arin had differing views on what Game Grumps was to them and their audience. Arin saw it as an opportunity to move away from his animations that took a lot of production time, whilst Jon saw it as a chance to hang out with his friend whilst taking a break from the stresses of making his JonTron show. Their differing opinions would lead to a tense relationship that eventually exploded in E3 2013 where the pair went from being close to distant. After a day of silence, Jon left the channel through a video in June 2013. The suddenness of the change resulted in a backlash against Danny, Jons replacement, and the new show, Steam Train.; 00:15:00 In this section, the video discusses the aftermath of JonTrons departure from Game Grumps and the arrival of Danny as his replacement. Initially, fans were hesitant to accept Danny, but as he opened up about his battles with depression, he gained the respect and love of the community. However, when Jons departure was never mentioned again and Suzy Berhow started taking a central role in Game Grumps, speculation grew about what really happened. Some rumors suggested that Jons girlfriend, Nicole, was to blame, but Jerry Terry, a friend of Jons, cleared the air and stated that Jon left of his own accord, despite Nicoles reservations. Many fans directed their criticism towards Suzy, feeling that her presence detracted from the original dynamic and connection between Arin and Jon.; 00:20:00 In this section, it is revealed that the Game Grumps, especially Suzy, showed frustration when asked about JonTrons departure, and it was later revealed that the breakup wasnt amicable; however, details on what happened were scarce. During the episode of Super Mario 3D World, a Miiverse post from a fan appeared with the message Game Grumps, Acknowledge JonTron, but was quickly dismissed. r/ConspiracyGrumps investigated and found out that Game Grumps censored and replaced aspects of the footage, and that the message was covered up. This secretive behavior raised alarms within the community, leading to JonTron retweeting a tweet of the evidence. After this, Game Grumps stopped using Miiverse posts in Super Mario 3D World episodes, citing a Wi-Fi issue.; 00:25:00 In this section, it becomes clear that the breakup of JonTron and Game Grumps was not amicable, despite attempts of the parties involved to keep it quiet. There was speculation about the reason for JonTrons departure, with some alleging that Game Grumps had censored an episode, but Arin and Danny were ready to censor it. Arin later explained that Jon simply wanted to move on from Game Grumps, with no further details. Jon then disputed this claim on the Game Grumps subreddit. Arins father, Lloyd Hanson, became involved in the discussions and was an active defender of Arin, going against speculation that he was lying about Jons departure.; 00:30:00 In this section, it is revealed that an NDA exists between JonTron and Game Grumps, which explains the silence of both parties regarding the real reason for the split. The NDA is likely to be a non-disclosure agreement, indicating that JonTron is potentially due financial settlement or income, pushed up by the situation where the MCN (multi-channel network) was acquired by Disney-owned Maker Studios and renamed Polaris, giving rise to Table Flip, a show produced by Polaris that ended up tanking after Polariss big bet of a US-only streaming service called Sling failed. The contract between Game Grumps and Polaris assured that Game Grumps would have a highly polished and produced show with set, costumes, lighting, cameras, operators, even catering.; 00:35:00 In this section, the video explains how a deal with Sling, a US subscription service for early access to shows on YouTube, was a turning point for Game Grumps. The deal required them to market Sling and promote their show, Table Flip, on the platform. However, the deal caused a divide among viewers, with some feeling that the Grumps had sold out and that the concept of paying for early access was unfair. The deal also excluded international viewers. This deal, along with other management changes and contract obligations, led to the end of Table Flip and the slowing down of other shows on the channel. Eventually, only Game Grumps remained with a few changes to comply with YouTube guidelines.; 00:40:00 In this section, the video delves into the aftermath of Jons departure from Game Grumps, highlighting Jons success post-departure, especially with his Starcade series, which he had more creative freedom over. The video speculates that Jon may have wanted more creative control over his content, which could be a reason for his departure. However, it is unlikely that the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) was drafted by Maker or Polaris because they had little involvement in the day-to-day operations of Game Grumps, as Ross had previously confirmed. The video claims that it wasnt clear what caused the falling out between Jon and Arin until Jon was finally mentioned in a Game Grumps video in February 2015, 594 days after his departure, but the video promised to reveal more information about what had transpired between Jon and Arin in the subsequent section.; 00:45:00 In this section, it is revealed that JonTron had a history of making reprehensible comments in his career as a YouTuber, alienating some of his close friends, including Jirad Khalil. In response, JonTron decided to leave Normal Boots, the collective that he had set up. Arin, on the other hand, made it clear that he wanted Game Grumps to be a friendly environment for everyone, and anyone who didnt align with those viewpoints would be cast out. The final nail in the coffin for the relationship between Arin and JonTron was when Arin attacked animator Sr Pelo on Twitter. Sr Pelo had made a light-hearted animation poking fun at some of the practices of other YouTubers, but Arin blew it out of proportion, causing Sr Pelo and fellow animator Oney to defend themselves on social media.; 00:50:00 In this section, it is explained that Jon and Arin had clashing character traits that made it difficult for them to work together. Arin prioritized brand image, which was a big factor in his clean reputation, and Jon was incredibly impulsive. Jons impulsiveness led him to drop hints about what went wrong in Game Grumps along the way and make every wrong choice when it came to dialogue. Because of the NDA in place, the real reason for Jon leaving Game Grumps cannot be officially disclosed, but it has been narrowed down to E3 2013, which was reportedly the straw that broke the camels back for Jon, who had been thinking about moving back to New York for a while prior to the event.; 00:55:00 In this section of the transcript, it is revealed that JonTron left Game Grumps due to personality differences with Arin and a power struggle over who ran the show. Jon felt a lot of decisions were being made without his consent, and tensions rose when Arin became concerned about the public image of Game Grumps at E3. Eventually, Jon had enough and moved to New York, leading to negotiations for Arin to buy him out of the company, creating an NDA. Arin brought in Dan as a replacement, and Game Grumps continued with a sharp turn into a different direction, guided by Arins creator hub vision. Ultimately, while the split was sad, it was necessary for Jon and Arin to move forward on different paths in life.; *Copyright © 2024 Summarize, LLC. Why was JonTron removed?
The popular YouTube host Jon Jafaris will not be in the upcoming video game Yooka-Laylee because of his false claims about race and immigration in the U.S. earlier in March. Jafari, known online as JonTron, sparked outrage after his tweets and comments in a March 13 debate with streamer Steven Bonnell repeatedly centered on his concern about declining white populations in the U.S. At one point, Jafari told Bonnell he could be open to the ideal of immigration.
Playtonic, which hired Jafari to do voice work on Yooka-Laylee in 2015, was also involved. Playtonic told GamesIndustry.biz on Thursday that it had removed Jafari from the game because of his recent views.
What happened to Jacques in Jontron?
In the first episode of StarCade, Darth Vader kidnaps Jacques and beats him up. Jon sets off on a quest to play every Star Wars game because of this. In the last episode, the Emperor makes Jon kneel. Darth Vader brings Jacques back to life. The bird turns into a shirtless, muscular man and pushes the Emperor off a ledge. He saves Jon and they reconcile. It turns out the Emperor is Arin Hanson.
He shoots lasers, wipes people’s memories, teleports, transforms into a falcon, uses telekinesis, and has quicktime powers. He also shoots what looks like Ryu-like lasers to activate objects. His red glow in his eyes turns into a star or a heart. His reprogrammed personality makes him sound nicer and more helpful.
Are normal boots still around?
The current state is: Many creators now work alone, but NormalBoots is still going with a different group of creators.
Shows. Channel exclusives. Madness; Did You Know Movies?
What is the NormalBoots scandal?
ProJared controversy and resignation. Jared Knabenbauer, better known as ProJared, was fired from NormalBoots on May 9, 2019. Jared was fired for cheating on his wife and sending inappropriate photos to underage fans. Satchbag left NormalBoots because of the controversy. He didn’t want to be associated with the group. On August 27, 2019, Jared finally spoke out on YouTube. He said he wasn’t fired from NormalBoots. He resigned so he wouldn’t hurt the other creators on the site. The video proved the most damaging allegations false, but Jared also admitted he was partly to blame.

Why was JonTron kicked from Normal Boots?
Jon Trons Departure. After his controversial statements on January 27, 2017, Jon decided to step down from NormalBoots indefinitely. Jon and Jirard said the timing was coincidental. Jon’s career moved away from video games. Jon is still an honorary member of Normal Boots.

What are conures scared of?
Many parrots’ caregivers say their parrots act scared when they see new things. This can happen when a bird sees a new toy, food, person, object, or cage. It can also happen when a bird’s cage is changed. Flighted. If a parrot is scared, it may fly away, stand still, rock back and forth, hiss, or growl.
Scared parrots may attack or make noise. Many caregivers may see the parrots’ feathers close to their bodies, their eyes closed, or their crests up.
Is it OK to still wear boots?
If you’re comfortable and don’t mind keeping your feet covered, boots are just as on-trend as sandals, heels, or trainers. Choose the right boot style for your outfit to make boot season last all year. You can style your boots in many ways for spring. Boots are great for any occasion, whether you’re in the countryside or the city. If you’re hiking, wear shorts and boots to stay comfortable and cool. Heeled boots are practical and stylish for spring evenings out.
Do conures scream a lot?
They want to play with you to avoid this. Make sure your bird has toys. Rotate them. Play with them often.
Did Yooka Laylee remove JonTron?
Playtonic said in a statement to GamesIndustry.biz that they had removed JonTron from Yooka-Laylee because of his recent comments. The game is coming out on April 11. Playtonic offered JonTron a role in Yooka-Laylee in February 2015. This was two and a half months before the studio launched its Kickstarter campaign. JonTron tweeted about his love for the Banjo-Kazooie series. (Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to that 3D platforming franchise.)
Jafari, who is of Iranian and Hungarian descent, found himself at the center of an internet firestorm earlier this month for his political positions. After defending a congressman with white nationalist views, Jafari repeated debunked far-right talking points on Twitch. These included the idea of a Mexican “reconquista” and the claim that wealthy blacks commit more crimes than poor whites in the U.S.
📹 How Jontron (almost) Ruined His Career
Today we’ll tell the story of Jon Jafari, and his many run ins with conflict. Written by Class Act Jack: https://bit.ly/3NmOprK Edited by …

Jacques actually left JonTron back when JonTron murdered him with a laser in the Banjo Kazzoie: Nuts & Bolts episode. Feeling heartbroken, Jacques found shelter with a new friend, named Jonathan Tronathan. Tronathan was different from JonTron, and they lived happily ever after, until Jacques was murdered once again, this time by his long lost brother Rockington, and Tronathan couldnt bring him back. As for JonTron, he replaced Jacques with another bird, but deep down inside he knows the pain Jacques feels inside Or, another theory is that THAT BIRD IS JONTRON
So I’ve seen some people asking why Jacques is turning his head so much, he’s not sick, he actually noticing himself in the camera or monitor and being very interested in who that handsome fellow is Edit: Wow. Okay. Did NOT mean for this to blow up. Y’all are arguing a bit, didn’t mean to ruffle y’alls feathers. (This is why my parents don’t love me)
I found a convincing theory on how and why Jon left Game Grumps. It was never a secret that Jon saw the venture as nothing more than a side project and would leave at any time given a new opportunity. Arin himself commented about this in a few episodes. Jon was likely planning on moving to New York for a while, but he didn’t know when. The “E3 incident” was most likely him telling everyone that he was basically packed up to move away then and there. This is why Jon made a separate farewell article, he was already gone before they could film anything together. Arin didn’t want anyone to receive any backlash, so he just swept the situation under the rug while Jon put everything behind him. This obviously only led to speculation, which is why the RantGrumps subreddit was made in the first place.
Honestly, never EVER dive into politics if you’re not suppose to be a political-focused creator. This applies to both famous figures and your average joe internet dwellers. I was once in that phase myself too, I found myself expressing an opinion on some social issue and it just end up snowballing from there that I end up finding myself becoming part of one of two toxic ideological factions. I managed to get out of it. Now, I still held some of my past believes, while some have changed, but I promised to never ever dive into the abyss of internet politics ever again. I could quote Nietzche for this experience.
JonTron’s crazy story probably taught him a valuable lesson regarding who and what you’re getting yourself involved with. Plus, he really did live to Nietzsche’s credo on what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger! Regarding future Internet Mysteries subjects, Art, may I suggest you cover the story of the speedrunning bank robbers, AKA, The Stopwatch Gang, a trio of Canadian bank robbers that became quite well-known in the 80s for robbing banks in the US by doing it in 90 seconds or less, with a stopwatch by their side to mark the time, hence their name, without shooting a single bullet.
I don’t watch Jon anymore. Not because of the political stuff, the new stuff isn’t as interesting imo. I miss when he did article games and those older articles will always be totally nostalgic to me and so much damn fun. It’s too bad all this had to happen tho. Really is a shame. Glad he’s at least doing better tho and was able to keep up with a new audience.
What always shocked me is how rabid the anti-JT crowd is. The worst you can say about him is that he’s a milquetoast conservative that manages to keep his political opinions out of his content. Which was a rare skill in the late 2010s. You covered it with the IH stuff and people going after IH just for being in 2 articles with him, but people have also dug up screen caps of JT’s old Starcade articles of him wearing a German military uniform as a gotcha moment. Starcade. The series about Star Wars article games and Star Wars is WW2 in space.
Gotta be honest, no matter how much I may disagree with what Jon has said in the past, I still respect him as a creator and get enjoyment out of his articles – they have INCREDIBLE replayability value. I could watch his Zoo Race article 10 times in a row and it would crack me up just as much as it did the first time I saw it.
Jon Tron is another example to me of how ‘being canceled’ is less about being politically incorrect and more about being dishonest to your fanbase. At least, if ‘canceled’ actually means internet users unsubscribed from you (and not, y’know, your physical world job firing you for normal reasons said jobs fire you for. That’s not being canceled that’s just called being fired.) Most people on the internet who make their own content, as long as they are open about who they are and don’t deliberately mislead their audiences, are still going to have a career when their audience ‘finds out who they are’ because the audience already knew. There’s no scandal if they’re open about who they are from the get go. I feel as though most people are aware Jon Tron isn’t ultra political and that if he is, he’s able to brush it off and that’s how he stays relevant. If that’s an /honest/ portrayal of who he actually is, his fan base isn’t going anywhere. And his fanbase, like with most content creators online, are essentially his employers. I do worry Jon Tron (and other users like Turkey Tom) might eventually lose their relevancy should they become too political because politics isn’t what they’re known for. That’s how you lose your audience. It’s how you lose a youtube career; by secretly being, or suddenly becoming, something else.
He’s a good example of somebody who’s impossible to cancel because he’s talented enough to produce content all by himself. The lesson he seems to have learned is that, if you do feel the need for a hot take, it’s best to just drop it and leave it there rather than getting baited into elaboration and debates with people who you’ll never satisfy and who are just hoping you’ll give them more ammunition with which to demonize you in the eyes of other members of their tribe. It’s easily for someone to unintentionally end up doing social and political commentary full time just by getting trapped in an endless reply loop at the expense of whatever style of content they actually enjoy making and which put them on the map.
I was in the middle of my fan animation of the jungle book episode when I got the news he left. I had no idea what I was going to do, so i just did the most ridiculous thing I could think of and had a sappy slideshow memorial tribute as though everyone was being forced to watch it at a funeral. Those were crazy times on YouTube, man.
13:29 Oh! It’s Gryphoneer; that guy who called a kid who’s a horror artist a “hypocritical gore fetishist” and acted as tho drawing gore is inherently some kind of kink after they said they were uncomfortable with people making furry NSFW of real animals in distress! I also remember there being many other terrible takes from Gryphoneer, but I forgot exactly what they were.
This is one of those topics that just serves as a good reminder: you can’t have any meaningful kind of political discussion on the internet, especially with a wider audience. The anonimity of the internet has taught a lot of us to behave as though the mask is always on and it’s brought out the worst in us because it’s freed us of the burden of consequence. Due to this we’ve seen the internet steadily polarize in terms of politics and… Well, everything else, because the drama of politics has seeped into more or less every facet of virtual life, not because the majority of users wanted it to, but because those who’ve grown addicted to the drama have made sure it’s spread to every corner of the web. To a large degree it’s why I agree with Sargon and Jontron’s disdain for the SJW mobs that cropped up in the mid ten’s, they are largely the responsible party for the spread of this toxic and, frankly, childish culture across the net as well as the rise of counter-SJW parties (both extremist and moderate) that further dragged us into the muck. You can no longer have a reasoned and adult conversation in most public forums because you’ll be screamed at by around a thousand random people who have been handed the megaphone of the internet along with the power of the anonymous angry customer. Couple this with the extreme tribalism that developed on the net both before and after the election of Trump and you’ve got a perfect storm of dox-ing, hacking and life ruination through harassment of both individuals and corporations related to individuals by parties on both sides.
Even though I thought what Jon said on Destiny’s stream was poorly worded at best and incredibly negligent and ignorant at worst, how Arin Hanson responded to it is one of the most hypocritical things I’ve ever seen on YouTube. Arin has said significantly more questionable things than Jon, so much so that there are entire compilations on YouTube of him saying the N-word. And what makes this worse, Arin calls out people for this crap all the time, and once again, acts so high and mighty about it. Makes sense why OneyNG doesn’t really hang out with him anymore.
Hearing Jon say that wealthy blacks commit more crime than poor whites tripped me out. I hope he doesnt believe that now. Im more liberal than conservative, but I hate how many liberals just immediately try to cancel anyone with opposing views and dismiss them as racists. Even if Jon was openly supporting Trump I wouldnt give a shit. I think his articles are hilarious and people who get so upset over another mans opinions on the internet need to get outside more.
The problem with staying out of political topics is that you may one day be asked to make a statement about something political, often under the guise of it being common sense rather than political, and your options are to either make the statement they want you to, which appeases them, or to make a statement that disagrees with what they want you to say, thereby proving that you’re a terrible person for not agreeing with them, or to refuse to make a statement altogether, which also means you’re automatically a terrible person for not inherently agreeing with them. So basically your options are to agree with them or you’re a terrible person, that’s how people get strong-armed into taking a side on a political issue.
I feel like Jon wanted to hop onto the online political sphere because it interested him, but he was clearly unprepared for legitimate debate and was incredibly uneducated about these topics. Destiny himself said he didn’t think Jon was necessarily racist or alt-right but instead was just regurgitating chan board talking points and qualifying that as enough research to delve into a debate. I do respect that JonTron, after admitting how he fucked up on the H3 Podcast, immediately dipped out of politics, managed to salvage his career, and hasn’t made this same mistake again (aside from a tweet about Fauci but it wasn’t as serious as the shit he was saying on Destiny’s stream). I don’t subscribe to the “JonTron is a racist nazi” crowd because I need him to go full Fuentes and continuously double-down on his opinions when he gets proven wrong. I do believe people can change for the better and I haven’t really seen enough evidence to show that he hasn’t.
Personally, at least how I see it, the internet (especially Twitter) over reacted to a couple of Jon’s spicier hot takes, granted that they weren’t exactly worded well. I remember hearing about this drama more recently, and just could not bring myself to believe that Jon would turn out to be a massive bigot as some other people might lead me to believe. Thanks so very much for making this well written article to help me understand the drama I never saw in the first place.
I think the point that people are starting to get or should understand is that no matter how angry they’ll get at JonTron for his spicy opinions on different social or political groups, it’s not going to change who he is. Just to be clear I do not support JonTron’s views nor am I against his views, (I personally don’t have any proud or confident standings on when it comes to politics, gender rights or whether science is good or bad, or anything else that people heat up over. I leave that to the people who can talk about those things seriously and professionally.) but at this point I think we all know that nothing we’ll do is going to make Jon change his opinions, and while he does talk like he thinks he knows what he’s talking about, he’s yet to act on his opinions apart from running his mouth when he feels like getting controversial. If anything I’m glad he chooses to focus more on being entertaining than he does being serious. Jontron is always going to be Jontron whether you love him or hate him. I don’t really care what he thinks of the world around him, I just love him for being the funny man.
I think you downplayed the debate. You’re acting like the controversy was over one statement he made that was taken out of context. It wasn’t. I was a big jontron fan at the time and I watched the debate when it happened. Half of it was about race and Jon regularly defended the concept of a purely white ethnostate as being ideal and spent a lot of it shitting on black/brown immigrants and blaming them for numerous issues in the United States, even saying that white people should be preserving the gene pool regardless of the assimilation of brown people into predominantly white nations. Granted, he would walk back these comments later and he was also audibly drunk during the debate, but you’re acting like the claims that he was a white nationalist came out of nowhere, when even he admitted it was an ideology he once ascribed to.
The true reason he changed was because the damn bird disappeared, he was left vulnerable, the bird protected his mind and directed all of his actions, carefully, strategically and then… The moment he’s gone… He’s left open with faulty programming and rambling about whatever came to mind, the gaming algorithm is overwritten with anything else. That’s right, I’m proposing the theory that JON “JONTRON” JAFARI IS INFACT A ROBOT.
Honestly the only YouTuber left from that era that still makes content that makes content that just feels like an evolution of his old content. iDubbbz’s modern articles are pretty boring, H3 has become pretty insufferable, FilthyFrank makes amazing music now but yeah he’s gone from YouTube, MaxMoeFoe still makes great articles on cold ones that have some of the charm from the old content but it’s very different still. Game Grumps makes the same content but honestly it’s pretty boring now and the stuff that’s come out about the working conditions from DingDong and Julian were pretty awful. At least Jon is still there for us
ahh yes, gamergate. The thing where the media attacked gamers and called us all sexists, and if you dare say anything back you were scum. Jon did nothing wrong. This is just mostly far left lunatics who can’t stand anyone who disagrees with him. Flex tape is when I started perusal jontron, though I did stop perusal over the last 6 months or so since his content has been lacking I think.
Whatever Jon’s political views may be, of they’re not in his articles, why should I really care? There’s a reason we live in what is supposed to be a free democracy. We each vote to elect people to represent our views. It’s not supposed to be about anger and pitchforks and forcing those we disagree with to become pariahs.
To be honest, I had forgotten all about this and didn’t know it was still going on up until 2022. Thing is everyone is prone to opposing opinions and can make off colored statements or declarations. But do we take it as malicious or just that — an opinion? I never felt like Jon was trying to be venomous about his posts or his stances, as messed up as some of them are. And at the end of the day, Jon is still alright in my eyes. To that, it seems like he’s smart enough to dilute his political stances in the face of his career. So really who knows where he may go from here but it definitely seems like he’s choosing a less controversial direction. Which is how it should be. Hell, Arin did it with Sr. Pelo and after some backlash, knew it was best to step back.(Also that tweet about Sonic 06, as wild as that situation was, is still kind of funny. I’m still waiting for Jon’s Guest Grumps apperance to finish what was started.)
Jontron will always be awesome. I learned of the Game Grumps, many years after perusal the “…Awesome” series during the Newgrounds-era, and after having watched many of Jontrons gaming retrospectives. By then, Dan was already “Not so Grump”, but I like them both. While Arin seems to be flirting with the “Cancel-culture” side of things on occasion, I’m glad Jon has stuck to his guns and that he (and Danny) remain musically-inclined.
We all agree that Jon’s experiment with internet bloodsports was an unfortunate mistake, but all the nitpicking on his tweets since has just been bored people who live online and can’t wait for an excuse to kick up more drama. Fortunately, it would seem that most of Jon’s fans are adults. Adults allow a man his opinions – even if they don’t always agree with our own, heaven forbid! The fact that Jon keeps on swinging really tells us something about his IRL support system, too. He’s not so terrified of the toxic dogpiling culture of the internet that he won’t dare to voice an unpopular opinion once in a while. While I’d agree that it’s best for entertainers to keep politics out of their acts (unless of course it’s part of their act!), we’re all entitled to our opinions, we all have them, and no matter how self-righteous and wholesome of heart and mind we may think we are – somebody’s just not going to like our opinions from time to time. That’s just life, and you can’t cancel everyone just because you happen to disagree. Jon’s ongoing success is proof of this, and I’m so glad it is! There is hope yet! 🙂
What bothers me immensely is that Jontron isn’t allowed to have right-leaning or right-sympathetic views, but if any major creator spouts off leftist talking points, they’re just fine. No controversy at all! I don’t think creators should be spouting off political opinions – unless they’re a political website – because it is incredibly alienating. But Jontron was a breath of fresh air, something different from the constant sea of leftism. Ah well.
Most of these “controversies” feel like nothing, just a dude on the internet saying whatever at that moment was going in his mind.. Im sure I have said way more vile stupid shit but cant remember because I dont actually believe what ever I might have said, granted he has few more eyeballs on him than average internet user but still 😀 Why would anyone take political opinions from non political representatives seriously, or science/medical opinions from non scientist/medical professional.
I think that Jon was never really a heavy supporter of any side of the US american political spectrum . He probably just went with the flow of the mid 2010’s right wing youtube flooding and kind of parrotet some of the rhetoric because of its surface level logic and popularity at the time. On the rare occasion that he gets openly political he, yet again does not dive very deep into any political matter which makes me think that he obviously has political views but its illogical to pin them down based on one badly prepared debate and a few tweets. Especially since calling the US somewhat corrupt is a statement that basically everyone on the political spectrum can agree on in one way or another.
Yooka-Layle is forever soiled because of how fast and heartlessly those developers dropped Jon. Him being a voice actor in that game gave us all hope that normal people being big fans of banjo kazooie could move on to be voice actors for their favorite developers. Long ramble, no one gives a shit. Have a good night everybody
Honestly people who dabble politics into their perspective of media is a bit frustrating. To me Jim Carrey is a nut but his talent is unmatched to this day in his niche of comedy. Let’s keep perusal Jim Carrey, lets keep enjoying jontron, and let’s do it all to Ride of the Valkyries, which indeed was made by a Nazi sympathizer 🙂
There is something ironic years after his interview with Destiny is Destiny end up become a target by the fanatical side of his own side to the point even attention seeker got him temporary banned on Twitch due to she show a nsfw picture in his stream live. I don’t even think he almost ruin his career, Jon just chill and show even the most popular that doesn’t mean have solid political opinion still can make articles to entertain his fans. Fun fact : during that interview the stream chat were vicius and wamt Jon career to end even some side of Jon fans but too bad Jon is too based and the only side that get recieving end was Destiny, a friendly fire too.
I watched JonTron’s website for years, loved him, wish I got more. But then a buddy of mine recommended me GameGrumps(Arin) and I checked it out and thought they were kind of funny sure, but as I went back further and found out JonTron was the original Not So Grump, I was so upset at myself for not knowing sooner. But at that point Jon was already gone from GG for years. Wish I would have found them when they originally started! No offense to Arin, but I just don’t really enjoy GG’s articles with Arin as opposed to Jon.
JonTron will forever be in my mind as one of the first ever YouTubers I’ve ever idolized (around 2011 I would say is when I first fully became a fan of his, and yes, I was there when game grumps was first announced from JonTron and Egoraptor’s websites promoting it and thinking it was one of the coolest things of all time and being saddened with his abrupt departure from the website). Even after all the stuff he’s gone through especially around 2017 and many of his former/non fans calling his content “far-right” will never NOT be funny to hear about I still to this day cling onto his notifications for his newer articles and still get a kick out of. Sure, in his debate with Destiny in retrospect, debating is kinda outta his realm in terms of how he presented his opinions and how it might’ve been perceived by outsiders. But in the end, he can always learn about and even think more critically about his own takes and adjust some of his stances even if he still stands with most of his original debate claims. Also, even if he caved and went to the left after the debate stream, “they” would STILL find a way to complain about him being a “grifter” or some other crap like that. Like it or not though, he at least stuck to his principals on what he thinks personally and it should be left aside for the most part to have a few articles to simply have a laugh when things get rough in the world. Also, destiny can also fall into this category of opinions you can agree to disagree with and such but it also seems like as of recently he’s been slowly distancing himself from the more “far-left” people who have/had connections with YouTube and/or other social media platforms which culminated in his eventual twitch ban.
I understood why he got so much backlash but personally I didn’t care all that much even as a black person. We all share different views. Heck – some of the things he stated I actually do agree with here and there. Not all, of course. But the biggest mistakes he had was: A: Blatantly ruffling feathers on Twitter. Twitter is a bubble of toxicity, ignorance, and sheep. Stating anything against what they deem is “correct” is asking for controversy, especially if it’s politics. B: Being political in general. I’m not saying he can’t speak his mind, but when you have a specific brand, you really don’t want to ruin that brand with politics. No matter which way you swing, you’ll anger a very large group of people and potentially lose fans/subscribers because of it. C: Not being at all ready for that particular interview. I don’t think he actually meant what he said about black people there. The way he stumbled over his words and had to restate the question tells me he barely understood it and wasn’t ready to answer it, thus blurted out whatever he could think of as an answer. That said, if I knew him personally, I’d ask him what he truly felt on that subject. Either way, I was a big fan of his before he even began Game Grumps, and while I don’t watch his stuff as religiously as I used to, I do check his website out from time to time.
I always felt that his success after what happened this due to the fact that people are just willing to look past it. If he had given a better apology besides just “I wasn’t thinking and got my facts wrong” I would still watch him (black man here). But he didn’t. I’m willing to give anybody a second chance if they showed genuine remorse and work to be a better person, the problem was that he only cared when his numbers went down. I also always found it odd that he was so strong on about what he said. Especially when he himself is a second generation immigrant. Just feels to me he hung around enough white people who said racist s*** long enough to just think he was part of the crew. I’ve met plenty of Hispanic folk, Asian folk and even Black folk who act like that. Hell, the black one was the worst. he straight up told me, another black man that he f**** hated black people. We nearly came to blows but I let it go. Me whooping his ass wouldn’t have changed his mind said if anything it probably would have doubled it down.
I’m very left-wing but I still check out JonTron’s content because he does have a knack for the craft. Also I guess I’m nostalgic because I’ve followed him since his list articles in back in 2010-2012. Comparing him to other Right Wingers who just do a livestream where they complain about Rings of Power for seven hours.
I wouldn’t be completely surprised I’m not entirely certain as to what political side JonTron is on however, I do know that Arin Hansen is a extremely far left Democrat so if Jontron happens to be on the other side, I can kind of see why that would cause political issues between the two. Also Jon isn’t wrong about both genders being objectified in article games in one form or another so he wasn’t wrong In that regard. He also was right in the fact that when the whole gamer gate thing come out, there was a lot of mentality in the spectrum of if you’re not with me, then you’re my enemy kind of thing, where if you don’t agree 100% with my way of thinking I’m gonna label you XY, & Z, and that way of thinking predominantly was coming from one particular side of the aisle and is still going on even to this day.
That’s what I really like about JonTron, he just says whatever the fuck he wants to say and totally blocks out whatever’s thrown at him. I legit wish I had as much charisma and confidence as he does. And as an autistic person, he gets the R word pass from me, 100%. Hell, I’d give it to anyone as long as it’s not used in a hateful context.
The thing about Jon is that for years he had convinced himself he was smarter than he actually was. I don’t doubt that he is a critical thinker, but so many times when he’s been challenged on his viewpoints he’s like a deer in headlights. Recall Game Grumps: Banjo Kazooie ep. 11 about 6:30 in Jon can’t back up what he says when Arin challenges him. That was just some inconsequential game design discussion Jon froze up on. And he really thought he could dip his toes into polarized political discussion? Jon needs to resolve his own insecurities because people will shred his ideas with fine razors. He says something, then clams up and hides when it’s held to criticism. It’s not good for his self-esteem to keep trying to have an informed conversation on subjects he realizes two dialog boxes in he doesn’t really know anything about.
Back in my day people could say what they wanted even if it was wrong. Don’t want to watch his content? I completely understand. Expending energy to make sure no one else watches and everyone thinks he’s a bad person? Miss me with that. Just live your life and don’t even think about the person anymore. Easy solution.
While I do not agree with all, or even a lot of what he was contrived to say, I do appreciate that he was at least trying to bring nuance to a conversation. I’ve recently started at a company working on a show that differs wildly from my own political beliefs. There have been some really uncomfortable moments with how much I disagree with the stances they take. But there have been some other moments where I’ve found a lot of common ground and nuances that I would never have considered before had I not associated with some of these people. There’s a lot of common ground to be found when you put down your pitchforks and talking things out civilly. Unfortunately, not everyone can be an adult about situations (including adults) and listen.
Jon, regardless of how you feel about what he says (let’s be honest, he’s not the most agreeable person on YouTube), has proven that he has mastered one important technique when handling the internet. Only post your political opinions where you know most people won’t find them. There’s a reason Jon never talks about any of this on his main YouTube website.
In all honestly when anyone goes to debate at the cesspool that is Twitter, nothing good comes from it. Johnnyboy is funny, but sadly spending time in politics truly held him down. Politics are just poison in any social media, either you agree with people or you’re enemy of the people, there’s never a ground of understanding in between. That gradually just tears your brain apart, turns you into a massive loser.
JonTron, such a based youtuber. Also, people getting offended by stupid shit will never not be funny to me, so I’m glad to see that he can still get people butthurt by questioning our clown world with the proper use or irony and come out intact, that’s the way. That said, his debate was embarrasing though.
I love Jon Tron, and I think Arin is kinda an asshole for distancing himself when he has been on record saying REALLY racist shit. Like when Suzie outed him for saying the N word with the hard R like 30 times after dropping off a Black guy he met. I still watch Game Grumps, but I roll my eyes every time he tries to talk holier than thou about racism and hate speech. I get people change, but he doesn’t see Jon this way though he thinks he can.
I originally completely ignored his Destiny debate but saw it a few years after and realized how absolutely awful of a person he was. Him being a COVID denier and anti-scientist just doubled how much I disliked him. It’s a shame because he’s obviously immensely talented. I remember perusal him during his rise in the early 2010s. We just sadly live in an age where it’s far too easy to know more about online celebrities than you’d ever want to know
The biggest problem with talking about american politics is how territorial and tribalistic it has become to the point where no one can have even minor differences in opinion to the new status quo. You can agree with 99% of everything but 1 minor thing, and you’re considered an -ism or a -phobe, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be about race or gender or who you vote for. It’s gotten to the point where even what article games you buy can make you a “good moral upstanding person” or an “evil immoral sinner” needing to be ostracized from society.
I see Jontron as a guy who just has many concern and sees thing.. then makes either poor political humor or comments. Do I agree with him? Sometimes.. sometimes not… Youtubing and any political charged issue is gonna cause contraversies and I know some youtubers DREAD it. If you feel like your favorite youtuber doesn’t say much… THEY JUST DONT WANT THE HASSLE OF POLITICAL CROWDS.
Just goes to show that maybe having an opinion on everything isnt always the best idea. Especially when it’s complex and nuanced, your knowledge about it isn’t, and the thing you’re complaining about is a lack of complexity and nuance. Sometimes it’s okay to just not have an opinion, or if you do, to keep it to yourself because you know you aren’t an expert. I don’t jump in on discourse about how to deal with the genocide in Myanmar. Because I don’t know shit about it. My opinion is that Facebook probably has some explaining to do in enabling it, but I’m not going to act like that opinion is even remotely airtight or even bother sharing it with anyone (merely using it as an example here)
What about a article about how the game grumps office got ding dong and julian blacklisted from games publishers, refused to pay them for their work, and led to a dox of them both, leading to people using the dox to tell ding dongs family that he was gay, and his mother didn’t take it lightly. All because they stood out against “dream daddy” since they felt it didn’t do the gay community justice and they felt it was pandering, and them as the only two gay men st the office felt like they could offer help. But in return, they were outcast and treated terribly
