Is Lust A Sin In Marriage?

Lust is a sinful longing that leads to the falling away from God and can manifest in various forms, such as cravings for power, money, fame, or unhealthy habits like excessive social media use or addiction to pornography. It is often misunderstood and misinterpreted in the Bible, but it is essential to understand the biblical perspective to avoid and overcome misconceptions about lusting after one’s wife.

Lust is an intense and improper sexual desire that deviates from the moral boundaries established by God. It is impossible to sin by lusting after your spouse because within the covenant of marriage, God gives us an enormous amount of love and commitment among ourselves and the Lord. However, there is no concession for lust either in marriage nor outside of it. Sex in marriage does nothing to prevent lust, and it is an abomination before God.

Husbands and wives are called to love each other, and lust is defined as using another person for selfish gratification. Many Christians argue that marriage is the cure for their lust, but it is not an absolute cure. Open communication and mutual respect are key to maintaining a healthy sexual relationship in marriage.

In conclusion, while lust is a sinful longing, it is important to recognize that it is not an absolute cure for lust and should be avoided. By understanding the biblical perspective and maintaining open communication, couples can develop healthier sexual relationships and avoid sinful lust in marriage.

How do I know if I am lusting?

Lust is sexual attraction that often leads to physical arousal. Lust can happen in any relationship, says Haley Neidich, a psychotherapist and relationship expert. Lust is purely sexual attraction, while love is passionate and compassionate. Lust includes spending a lot of time with a partner, being physically intimate, having little interest in their life outside the bedroom, and having different values. Love includes being emotionally vulnerable, looking forward to meeting friends and family, and feeling secure in the relationship. Access your favorite topics in a personalized feed while you’re on the go. If you feel giddy when you see them and daydream about your life together, you might be in love. Or is it just lust? At the start of a relationship, it’s hard to tell the difference between love and lust.

How long does lust last in a marriage?

The lust phase of a relationship can last up to two years. But over time, love can develop when a deeper connection is made. At this time, lust and love can both be in a relationship. Signs of Lust in a Relationship. What are signs you’re lusting, not loving? You may be feeling lust if you relate to any of the following:

If you only feel sexual attraction, if the person you’re attracted to becomes less attractive when you see their flaws, if you don’t want to get to know them better, if the relationship is short-lived, if you want to have sex with them, if you’re very attracted to them physically, if your heart races, if your palms sweat, if you get butterflies around them, if you want to leave after sex instead of staying to spend time with them.

How do I know if my husband is lusting?

Your partner is lustful if they want sex fast. They don’t care about your life outside of the bedroom. They don’t share details of their life with you. They don’t want to share their feelings. Lust is a strong sexual desire for another person. It’s what attracts us to a partner and keeps passion alive in a long-term relationship. Lust changes the chemicals in our brains. Hormones like testosterone, pheromones, and androgens affect how lust is experienced. This is also part of our biology and our human instinct to procreate. When we see someone we’re attracted to, we may feel lust and want to have sex to continue our species. People can feel lust when meeting someone new or in a committed relationship.

Are wet dreams a sin?

St. Thomas Aquinas says wet dreams are not sinful. A thirteenth-century theologian addressed this issue before psychologists or therapists, but St. Thomas’s reasoning has nothing to do with condoning sexual sin. His reasoning is based on reason. To be guilty of a sin, we must be able to suppress the thought of committing it with our reason.

If you don’t think, you can’t sin. Since we don’t use our brains in dreams, sexual dreams aren’t sinful. But other things can also make us dream about sex, like racy TV shows. Matt Fradd says we should avoid these because they could lead to sin.

Is lust ok in marriage?

Wikipedia says lust is “a strong desire for something you already have.” In the modern world, lust is seen as a very strong desire. It can be about anything, but is usually about sex. This definition makes lust sound great! Don’t we want to want our spouse? But in a religious context, lust is bad. The Bible says not to lust. Christianity.com defines lust as “sexual craving.” Lust often leads to bad actions to fulfill desires without thinking about the consequences. Lust comes from selfishness and greed. In a religious sense, lust is wanting someone or something for selfish reasons. In a marriage, lusting would look like wanting sex for your own pleasure. Lust is selfish.

Neither definition is wrong, but it’s important to know how you use “lust” in your communications. With different definitions, it’s easy to get confused! For this post, lust means “a selfish sexual craving.” Passion is the feeling of wanting to please your spouse sexually.

Is lust the deadliest sin?

Lust is the least serious capital sin. Thomas Aquinas thinks it’s an abuse of a human trait shared with animals. He believes sins of the flesh are less serious than spiritual sins. Gluttony is the overindulgence and overconsumption of anything to the point of waste. The word comes from the Latin “gluttire,” meaning to eat quickly. One reason for its condemnation is that the wealthy may make the poor hungry. Medieval church leaders like Thomas Aquinas saw gluttony as more than just eating too much. They also included eating too fast and eating too many expensive foods. Aquinas listed five types of gluttony.

What does the Bible say about self-pleasure?

Sexual arousal is a key part of self-pleasure. It’s a desire of the flesh. God made our sexuality to be good and uplifting, but He told us to use it wisely, not just for our own pleasure. The Bible says, “The mind ruled by the flesh is death, but the mind ruled by the Spirit is life and peace.” Self-pleasure is a great example of the flesh governing the mind. Let’s be honest. Self-pleasure seems harmless. It can even seem positive. As a Christian, you are called to live a holy life and to wait until you are married to have sex. Self-pleasure is not consistent with the kind of life Jesus wants you to live.

How do I stop lusting after my wife?

To fight lust, be aware of yourself. Don’t act on your feelings.

Do things that make you feel close to your partner and build a deeper relationship. Lust is often caused by strong physical attraction and can be made worse by things like novelty, society, and personal experiences.

It’s natural, but can be bad if not managed in a respectful relationship.

At what age lust is highest?

When is sex at its most popular? Recent research from the Kinsey Institute shows that people of all ages have regular sex. Men aged 25-39 and women aged 20-29 had the highest rates of sex. Older people have sex less often. Sexual peak is the best time to have sex. Women reach their sexual peak in their 30s, while men peak in their late teens. Most people have heard the phrase “sexual peak.” It’s a time when you can have lots of high-quality sex. If you don’t have a sexual peak, your sex life won’t be as good before or after. There is no clear definition of a sexual peak. People have sex that is satisfying throughout their adult lives. People’s sex drive and sexual function change over time, but this doesn’t affect how satisfied they are with sex.

Is marriage the cure for lust?

Sex in marriage helps fight lust and adultery. But it doesn’t cure everything. All the fruits of the Spirit are needed in marriage as well as outside marriage.

Deeper spiritual connection. Let me say one more thing to avoid creating an unrealistic view of marriage. Marriage and sex protect couples from adultery and pornography in other ways besides the physical. We shouldn’t think of sexual sin protection as a physical release. It’s not like we’re saying, “I gotta keep this guy from exploding in all the wrong places, so he’s got to have this pressure valve released.” That’s true, but it’s not the whole story when Paul says that sex is a firewall. There’s more to it. In our culture, where sex is seen as just a hook-up or weekend sport, it’s hard for them to understand what I’m about to say. God wants something amazing, glorious, beautiful, and spiritual to happen when people have sex.

Is it okay to lust after your husband?

The problem in Mat 5:28 is not the desire, but the object of that desire. It’s okay to have a strong sexual desire for your wife. Likewise, women should lust after their husbands. Last month I read two blog posts about lust. I agree with both posts if we use the English definition of lust. The Greek word for lust in the New Testament is different. The Bible talks about lust in a way we don’t understand. “If you look at a woman with lust in your heart, you have already committed adultery.” Matthew 5:28 ESV.

The English word lust doesn’t work there. The word “lust” is epithumeo, which doesn’t have a sexual meaning and isn’t sinful. The word means wanting something very much. Jesus used this word to describe Himself.

  • I think this question is about a Christian husband’s sexual desire for his own wife. Perhaps she is beautiful and he thrills seeing her, desiring her, and being with her. To me, this is why God created this force, to have this kind of relationship with a wife. In mutual agreement. No perversion and no one else. Ever. But the minute most people start having problems, they stray. And lust becomes the issue.

  • At Prince Harry’s wedding, the Archbishop gave 3 reasons for marriage that seemed to boil down to one. We have marriage so that we have somebody closer to home to lust for. It gives security to the pretty girl walking down the street. It sounded weird. My wife and I were an item almost from the moment we first laid eyes on one another. A woman who could not get enough sex from her husband was thinking of having “a bit on the side.” The reply was that it wouldn’t work, because she was not bringing to the second relationship the emotions and memories she had with her husband. This talk depends on your definition of lust. Different couples have different levels of sexual activity. Lust is selfish.

  • What if you’re lusting over a former image of your wife? I imagine the answer is no. That it would in fact be sin, because you are neither controlling your thoughts or loving your wife as she is. But I find myself struggling with lust sometimes over a time when my wife looked different and we were more sexually explorative. When passions were more novel and we looked more youthful. That’s how I understood the question, and I’ll admit the answer is no and it’s a personal struggle.

  • Desiring does not have to be lustful (wrongful desire). We are to desire our wives even as CHRIST Desires us. This is not an desire of abuse, to hurt, harm. JESUS Desires us in a way that is Good (the only true way). To love, honor and cherish. satan desires to have us as well (Peter), but to sift us as wheat. To maim, divide, torment, hurt. We are not to desire each other like this. If there is no control of the flesh, then abuse can happen between husbands and wives. However, what they (marriage bed) decide amongst themselves is not defiled.

  • It is so sad to see how so many here, especially men, (though some women do also) reveal their degenerate condition and their depravity. It is true that you really dont know the nature of a person till you expose them to things that are profoundly true and holy. The way they take them and react to them shows more about them than any PhD expert could ever bring to the surface!

  • 3:40 this reminds me of another article i watched called is there limits to sex in the bible and the pastor in summarization yes quotes the book of Corinthians but he says that in sex the only barries are is it disobeying a law of god and does your partner enjoy it or aka consent meaning thag for example threesomes foursomes swinging wife swapping or watcjing adult stuff together stuff like that goes against gods will so those are big no no’s but when it comes to oral or other positions or toys or anything else as long as your wife and both of you consent to doing so its okay the only barriers in sex are does it go against god and do you and your wife consent to doing those sexual pleasures thstd what thst pastor said around sex and supported it with scriptures.

  • Lust is defined as a very strong sexual desire. To desire one’s own spouse is not a sin. However if you feel an overwhelming obsessive desire this is unhealthy. The opposite of lust is chastity. The Bible speaks about how we are to not give in to passions and sexual urges. How we are to crucify the flesh and be chaste and controlled patient not self seeking long suffering. The fruits of the Spirit are control humility honor …lust would not be among this list neither would fleshly desires or passions. Lust is self seeking self gratification it exalts itself for its own glory like having sex. Making love is totally different it is gentle it is a beautiful act of serving and loving to honor the creator and the spouse within the covenant. There is no comparison between sex and love. The marriage bed is undefiled but not all things are good or holy and yet still even more not everything edifies. Edification is beautiful and holy. These are spiritual truths that are higher than any other truths. If you list for your partner this is not a good thing because it shows an unhealthy strong desire. This usually stems from lack of identity, lack of patience, lack of acceptance there’s usually a lack or void you are trying to fill with something that cannot fill it. There may be unresolved trauma or hurts that need to heal. Once you are healed and complete within yourself you are able to desire your spouse with restraint and respect no rush or urgency knowing you have all the time to savor and come together as one as often as you desire.

  • It’s simple in our marriage….in the marriage bed (so to speak), whatever we both agree to, we do it. The point being, ‘agreed upon’ by the two of us. If one does not like what ever it is, we don’t do it. We can come up with many ways we DO enjoy each other. And lusting after your spouse, WHY is that wrong anyways? Some of our greatest love making has been when we had some time that day to think about and lustto be together. I thought this was a God-given right foro married Christian couples, to yearn for, desire, anticipate and carry out. When the spouses ‘lust’ for one another, its a gift within our marriage to carry out So maybe I’m missing something here?? I’m not understand how lusting after my spouse can be considered sin…

  • “May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer— may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬ This is a verse warning against adultery but I think that’s not the only takeaway and may answer the question more simply. That being said some of the additional information is good to reflect on as well such as how the husband and wife must fulfill their conjugal duties to one another because their bodies don’t belong to themselves. I’ve always taken that to mean simply neither party should deny sex to the other which is true I still believe, but in addition to care about the pleasure of the partner is an act of love which is very important to practice so that’s worth keeping in mind as well.

  • Some of these people are saying it’s wrong in these comments … So please someone tell me how a man is supposed to have sex with his wife if he is not allowed to sexually desire her???? You do know how things work right, within the human body .how would things work if he said nope I can’t look at her like that. …someone please explain your reasoning… I don’t get it 😂

  • Many thanks Pastor John, I’m a Christian girl and I have long distances relationship with the Christian man. We are dating online, because we want to marry and create Christian family. We both have very strong sexual desire to each other, is it sin to pronounce about it??? Thanks beforehand for Your care and answer!!!

  • You desire your wife for an intimate relationship by wanted her to desire you too. If both are desiring each other that is the most healthy relationship of all, but we can’t deny that man’s desire is more powerful than woman, in that case the woman must have a wisdom to comply with it. You must desire but not to lust. To be lustful it’s wrong you have to pray about it. If you lust, you will force your wife into it, but if you desire you will have a patient to wait when she is ready.

  • This comes down to how this person asking the question defines Lust. Sexual Desire and Lust are not the same thing. Lust is the selfish indulgence in physical gratification. Desiring your spouse physically is fine; but lust is not about pleasing each other mutually. It’s a 100% self serving action. This is why for example it would be cruel and wrong to demand sex from your spouse if they were suffering from pneumonia with a 98 degree fever and cold sweats. Only a jerk would demand sexual gratification out of the other; and to force such a thing is would be disrespectful bordering on rape. So yeah. Be aroused by your spouse and it’s okay to want to blow their mind during love making but lust is not about love and never was about it.

  • I never understood the meaning of lust. Some people told me it was extrem desire or passion or fornication but i wanted to knoew what i meant. I know now. Lust is any sexual desire that is done with bad intentions or through wrong means. A twisted desire that is not mean with love for love but selfish. God was the creator of mariege is a union of 2 people that swear to stay yogueyher form a family love and protect eachother. Anything other than that leads to suffering. I felt lust before for a married man The fulfilment of my desire would of wrecked a family with kids. Is a desire that leads to distruction. This is fornication and adultery and is immoral crimes punished by death in gods law and commandments. Seriously braking the law of the kindom of heaven.

  • John 4:16 God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Who created love but God why wouldn’t he use the example of the Love making Between a Husband and Wife.

  • The question is rooted in Roman Catholicism, which has blasphemously bound the consciences of men and their wives about what is lawful and what is unlawful in the marriage bed. But God makes no such laws between a man and his wife. Where there is no law, there is no sin; for sin is the violation of the law. It is an Antichrist notion that a man can lust after his wife. Why? Because lust is sin, a violation of God’s law. And the bible says the marriage bed is undefiled. Never does it say: Thou shalt not lust after the woman that I gave you!!! That means that there is no sin in the marriage bed. The marriage union is created by God so that a man and his wife can take care of their sexual needs lawfully. Their desires, and their sexual acts, whatever they are, are HOLY!!! To say that a man can lust after his wife is to say that there is something sinful about the marriage union, which God created, and this is simply not so. It was Roman Catholicism that began to suggest that there is sinfulness within the marriage union if the laws of the Roman Catholic Cult that regulate the sexual union are not obeyed. These are all ROME’S laws, NOT GOD’S!!! In the Roman Catholic Cult’s laws regulating sex, there are multitudes of ways that a man and wife can sin in the marriage bed, so much so that it’s nearly impossible to be sexually satisfied. And even if they are sexually satisfied, their satisfaction is laden with guilt and shame and they feel morally obligated to confess their married sexual sins to the priest to gain absolution.

  • Pandora’s box again – Maybe Song of Solomon might shed some light on this – I have perfect solution (of course there are many more potentially valid ones ) but it might not be totally beneficial to all parties involved… Oh well, back to the salt mine – after all somebody has to bring home the bacon…Celibacy would do the trick – but then we might be violating the suggestion (commandment?) to be fruitful and multiply… This didn’t mean grow more oranges and learn advanced mathematics (just a little humor to lighten the conversation, etc…) this is fertile ground for all the wannabe head shrinks and brain washers to jump in… Yes this might be a neat topic to address – but maybe we should have started it back when Noah was on the Ark – talk about being distracted with other more import duties… OH lets not forget some women could (and often does ) same to the husband… After all – it takes two to tango (as a rule)…

  • hi im Rafael, my question is this. my wife and i are separated currently, we had a couple years arguing and we lost our daughter last year due to organ failure. i stay over on the couch once in awhile. i love her & i miss her. we are going thru a bad time right now. i know she loves me in her heart, there is still some emotion in her. i have been trying to be faithful to her. i miss having sex and affection from her. i look at her and shes is beautiful to me. im very attracted to my wife. theres are times when i think about memories of me & her sexually. i feel love for her, and there are times when i miss her so much i start lusting after her. i just started going to christian church 2 months ago, she used to go before our daughter died – now she doesnt go anymore. Is that ok according to the bible to lust after my own wife since i haven’t been with her for awhile now?

  • The correct answer in simple – NO it is not a sin to have sexual desire for your own wife, God delights in that expression and made you that way. Period, end of story. Pastor John’s answer was one of the worst, most convoluted answers to a straightforward practical question I have ever heard. This was worthy of a lawyer not a pastor. Yes, he finally kinda sorta got around to the correct answer at the very tail end of the article after all the wives had tuned out and after he explored every sordid 1/10 of 1% exception to the rule that he knew did not apply. The questioner was not a domineering, narcissistic pervert or he wouldn’t have asked the question, So Pastor John did know what he meant. Look, you have a guy desiring to please God and be sexually pure. God built him with a libido and designated him with a proper expression of that libido. Heb 13:4 states it clearly: “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled.” In otherwords, sex inside marriage is good and not sin. This guy with a God-given libido takes the effort to do the right thing and get married. And then you frustrate this proper outlet by putting all the power in the hands of the spouse with the least libido. (Look at some of te comments in the KendrikD thread.) Doing so, you push the other spouse to sin. I Cor 7. If you don’t want sex, don’t get married. Do not tempt your spouse with adultery because you are “uncomfortable” with more than a minimal amount of sex or don’t want to try something you might be “uncomfortable” with doing.

  • “not use them” More unscriptural teaching as usual with Piper Romans refers to ses as the “natural USE of the woman” So yes, in God ‘seyes, a man can use his wife for his sexual needs. This is absolutely biiblical Proverbs 5:18 tells husbands to go drink from their well, and the well poetically refers to the wife’s body .

  • Inspiring quotes: “There is this happy competition, in who can make the other most happy, who can do the other most honour.” “Every christian husband should have his wife’s desires, and wife’s pleasures in mind, when he thinks about sexual relations and when he does sexual relations.” “So I think it’s right for a husband to enjoy his wife any way in the mind, that would be right to enjoy her in the bed(room).” “There is no sin in the mind, if there is no sin in bed.” And of course listen to the Lord and your (circumcised) heart. I think it brings joy to Him by enjoying how he made and meant things. More to be found in the podcast. God bless 🙂 Scripture: 1 Corinthians 7:3-4 1 Peter 3:7 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7

  • I didn’t see this in the comments (not trying to be crude) but I tend to think the question “Is it okay to lust after my wife” is another way of asking “Can I masturbate thinking about my wife?” I can’t speak for everyone but “lust” holds the door for porn and porn holds the door for other extreme forms of infidelity. Controlling your “vessel” comes with maturity in Chrsit and fleeing youthful lust. Don’t fool yourself. Masturbating about your spouse without their consent is wrong and grieves the Holy Spirit.

  • Of COURSE it’s O.K. for a husband to lust after his wife, & vice versa, God’s Word not only encourages/instructs us to lust after one another, but also to satisfy one another’s sexual desires. 1 Cor 7:3-5 (N.I.V.) says: “The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife’s body does not belong to her alone, but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband’s body does not belong to him alone, but also to his wife. Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent, and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again, so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self control.” The N.A.S., the Amplified, & N.I.V. say ‘prayer’, the King James Bible says ‘fasting and prayer’, but all agree with one another, just with slightly different wording. Proverbs 5:19 says of husbands & wives; “Let her breasts satisfy you at all times”.

  • That’s incorrect. He is talking to a crowd of men about how they each need to hold themselves or their vessels (their own bodies) clean and pure. Stop making Jesus from heaven and Jesus from Mexico the same thing! Grabbing two statements where the word vessel is used and slapping the meaning on top of each other isn’t how that works!

  • Not many Christian teachers touch this subject, and when they do, it’s very shallow, and often they give beggarly explanations, in which today’s new age gurus would surpass them by leaps and bounds. Also sadly many, and l say MANY of so called Christian teachers who attempt teaching about this subject have actually done much harm to many marriages, giving men licence to treat their wives as their own personal prostitute. This man spoke in less than ten minutes more truth than many do in long outdrawn seminars.

  • Yahshua – you know Him as Jesus – was born to a virgin, turned water to wine, taught, healed the sick, raised the dead, casted out demons, walked on water, calmed the storm, and fed a crowd of thousands with a few fish and a few loaves of bread on two separate occasions, among many other things. He was killed on the cross as payment for the sins of all mankind, three days later He rose from the dead. Forty days later He ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father. He is returning very soon, but before He does, Satan, the devil, is coming to pretend to be Jesus/God (2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 and Revelation 2:10). Satan is an angel, and he will have certain supernatural powers with which to try to fool everyone. He will, for example, be able to make fire come down from heaven in the sight of men. He will only be on earth a short time before the real King of Kings, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, returns. When the real Jesus comes we will all be transformed into our spiritual bodies at the same moment. Jesus came in the flesh to offer forgiveness of sins and eternal life to anyone who believes and calls on His precious name!\r \r if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. – Romans 10:9\r \r Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

  • No it’s not a sin my friend, a marriage is Holy as it says in The Word. Here is the thing, if thats the case ( not saying it’s wrong), I might as well be single for the rest of my life and to love Jesus with all my heart, mind and soul and to follow HIS commandments. To be frank, the rate of sin going on in the world today ( and it’s only increasing more and more by the day), I think the safest bet is to be single, especially in this wicked and perverse generation, then to sin and not repent and burn in hell.Sorry, I rather choose the constant persecutions, trials and tribulations and to stay on the narrow path, then to indulge in the momentary pleasures of this world and end up in the wide/broad path.

  • The use of birth control in the bedroom is sinful. No mention of this. How about anal sex or oral sex? No answers. People truly have these questions and will find themselves in these situations. Why is there no clarity? Seems the pastor likes to keep people ignorant and in sin or also has the same questions and doesn’t have the authority to answer them.

  • There is no sexual intercourse or childbearing in heaven even if there is food and wine. God said in Isaiah 56:3-5 not to let the eunuchs say that “Behold, I am a dry tree” because he will give them a name and place better than sons and daughters. This means no childbearing in heaven. Jesus said that people in heaven do not marry each other like how the angels of heaven do not marry. In contrast, the fallen angels found human women to be pretty, married them, and had children with them. This means that unlike the fallen angels and our earthly bodies, we will not have sexual desires in heaven. We will still eat food in heaven and drink wine because Jesus mentioned that these things will be in heaven. But just because we will eat and drink in heaven, it does not mean we will have sexual intercourse and bear children in heaven because God clearly said what we will and will not do in heaven. Sexual intercourse in marriage is a symbol of the marriage of Jesus to the church in heaven. When the real thing is there, there will be no need for the symbol just like how there will be no need for temples in heaven because Jesus is the temple. There is no need for animal sacrifices because it was just a symbol of Jesus’s sacrifice.

  • What an odd message let me paraphrase it, so your husband enjoys having you because he enjoys you intrinsically, not just because he wants to pleasing you…that must be selfish and sinful! I don’t believe the bible teaches this idea you have. I’d agree something’s wrong if a husband ONLY ever thinks of his wants and desires (and the same for the wife), but if he NEVER thought of them he would not have desired the woman who became his wife, and she would not be his wife. I can understand questions about before marriage related to the adultery of the heart passages, but in a marriage? This metaphorically is like saying someone who pets an animal with soft fur is selfish because it’s an intrinsically enjoyable act, he should pet a porcupine instead because only the porcupine could be the beneficiary of such an exchange. This is not how to tell if something is either unselfish or selfish in reality. I agree that some behavior could be wrong even between a man and his wife (something that would be mistreating or harming), but a husband is supposed to have lust (strong desire) for his wife.

  • What a stupid question. This is a perfect example of why religions membership and influence is declining. Religions ridiculous obsession with sin is beyond bizarre. Continuously threatening their members with eternal damnation apparently is the only way they can retain their members. They talk about love but preach hell fire and damnation. People aren’t as naive as they used to be, and thus church membership is declining.

  • Abraham had two sons, one Ismael from which Muslim counties were made, Abraham’s second son Isaac became the country of Israel. Isaac’s son Esau made America and these three sons do not consider Lord Jesus to be the son of God! Today whatever is happening in the world is happening as it is written in the Bible, Muslims do not consider Jesus (Isa Ali Salam) to be the son of God, they believe that Jesus is their prophet! The Israelites (Jews) do not believe in Jesus as the Messiah, and America also abandoned the holiness (Lord Jesus), then it is written in the Bible that the Gentiles will accept the Lord Jesus as the Son of God (Acts 28:28) and believe in Jesus’ sacrifice. That,”The Lord Jesus himself was sacrificed for our sins, and the Lord Jesus gave eternal life to us believers!” The Bible says, “He who has a son (Lord Jesus) has a father ( heavenly God “Jehovah”) And those who do not have son have no Father” The Lord Jesus himself said, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one can come to the Father without me!” (John 14:6). Truly Gentiles Today is waiting for arrival (Rapture) by Lord Jesus (Yeshua)after being real follower of Lord ❤️Jesus!👍

  • First off, “Saint” Paul was never married. Nor was Jesus (as far as I understand). Secondly, I as a woman do not consider myself “weaker” mentally though in my old age I am weaker physically than my husband. Thirdly, it’s no business of yours or any other Christian to proclaim how any marriage should or should not be. That is private as long as we do not try to harm each other, in which case only the law should interfere. p.s. I just wish I had learned more about how to please myself and my husband before marriage. It would have saved a lot of stormy outbreaks during marriage.

  • “Vessel” that’s the literal translation. In other words, folks, as the KJV & NASB have it. “Vessel” This is a consistent pattern with the ESV: it’s very often not any more literal than the NIV. Except the NIV is well written. “And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people..” KJV, Ex 24:6 “Moses took the blood and sprinkled..” NASB “Moses then took the blood and sprinkled…” NIV “And Moses took the blood and threw it on the people…” ESV Can we stop this charade already that the ESV is a good translation?

  • I was raised Baptist and married a Baptist girl. Baptist preacher said to me privately that it’s a sin for a man to lust – even after his own wife. My first wife left me for another man. So did my second and third wives – took off for other guys. My current woman and I haven’t had sex in over 11 years – yet she’s still with me (though seems a little sad sometimes). Lust is a sin, so I choose to ignore their sexual wants.

  • What o find amaising is that all this far remofed from the simplicity that is in Chrisr Jesus. Complicating what is simple is sin. No heterosexual male can consider himself removed from the pool of lustful fornicators, even if one remains a ‘virgin’ . Even those who teach about sexual sin are notmremoved from that they teach against, yet are gulty.

  • Lust is selfish, when husbands are lustful the have boring sex with their wives because the focus is on their own selfish needs. They want to reach climax and are not bothered about pleasuring their wife. Not just in sex but in intimacy and the day to day areas in their lives. The experience would be different if husbands LOVED their wives like Christ LOVED the church. Christ pursued HIS bride, husbands need to continue to pursue their wives in marriage . Sex should be another act of service and love towards each other. A TRUE GENTLEMAN Let’s his wife orgasm 1st- hence the saying “Ladies 1st” Love is patient and kind, it is not self seeking 1 Corinthians 13 explain the attributes of love. Another test of Love would be would you give your life for your wife? Ephesians 5:25.

  • Lol 😂 you’re not even thinking about that all woman go through a change we’re they cannot how should I say ha get wet or it becomes very sensitive. Sex my even harts her. Is it a sin that a husband go with out? Sometimes this change last years. How is the husband supposed to deal with that? In the shower? That’s no good no reality no bonding.

  • Lust is a sin because it is a temporary feeling, not eternal love. Human flesh had to be designed after the fall, to be able to procreate without the Spirit. That is why we got conscience and the flesh and its willpower. Gluttony is a sin because it glorifies temporary pleasure over eternal love and peace. God is eternal love and joy. The world and its lust is temperorary. If we run away from temptation the more we will seek it. Adultery starts in the heart, and it is a sin. If it is a sin it can be confessed, and if it can be confessed it can be removed from the heart.

  • Angels turned from God and took women for themselves from the earth and that’s where the nephilim or giants came from. But what’s weird is that Jesus is God son from Mary so did God take a woman also? I mean Jesus did not come from Mary’s husbands seed no? This article makes it seem as if it is sinful to have a sexual desire for your spouse when it’s a normal thing to be sexually attracted to your wife.
