The Ancient Magus Bride is a weird anime series. The mages apprentice theme is common, but this show is unique. I enjoyed it from start to finish, but it feels like a setup for future seasons. The main antagonist is introduced early on but then forgotten about to make room for world-building and character development. This is not a bad thing, but the first season of this show lacks plot. It mainly focuses on the main characters bonding and meeting different characters. Magic is rare, so don’t expect a flashy show. I rate TAMB 8/10, but it could be a 9/10 if the setup pays off.
