Father of the Bride, a 1950 American romantic comedy film, is set to return with its third reboot, featuring Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan. The film follows a Cuban Miami family as they navigate the situation to accept the new reality after their daughter’s wedding. The remake follows the pattern of the 1991 film series, with Andy Garcia playing Billy and Gloria Estefan as Ingrid.
Father of the Bride is based on the 1949 novel by Edward Streeter, which has been adapted into multiple film adaptations. The movie adaptation follows a father who begins to panic as preparations for his daughter’s wedding unfold. The new Father of the Bride is directed by Gaz Alazraki and produced by HBO Max.
The film premieres on HBO Max on June 16, 2022, and in Australia, it is available for streaming on Netflix. The original 1950 film and the 1991 remake were released on September 25, 2020, exclusively through Netflix, YouTube, and Facebook pages. Andy Garcia stars as the uptight dad, and the pairing with Gloria Estefan is more than amusing.
The Father of the Bride reboot is expected to be the most serious retelling yet of the classic family tale, with the updated setting and characters giving it a whole new life. The film is produced by Plan B Entertainment and will be available for streaming on HBO Max.
