In a way, this showcases the differences in style over the past decade. It is great that brown liner, especially for a cat eye, is making a comeback. I feel the same way as Susan, when I see pictures of myself at my sister’s wedding. It scarred me so much, that it was last time I wore black eyeliner rimmed around my entire eye. While, I love winged black liquid liner, black is too harsh in the waterline and tear duct. Also, the way the makeup artist did my lips, made me realize why I prefer bolder colors. She put a color on my that made my (already small) lips completely disappear, and caused me to look sickly. Which is why when I was a bridesmaid at my cousin’s wedding, everyone told me to do my own makeup. They knew I would be unhappy, if something went wrong.

This article was a life changer for me I am an older bride with mature skin and a bit of a hooded eye; I get married in December. I had a a trial and I looked great, I do think I am going to recommend for my actual day to go with the colors you used here. My biggest issue after was, under my eyes and in my T-zone which only had concealer and setting powder applied it started to settle into my fine lines so in person I was not looking as good as I was in the pictures. I had my makeup professionally done on Saturday for my sons wedding. The foundation she used was heavy and greasy. The amount of contour she used was unbelievable. I hated everything about it. I told her I wanted the Dior or Nars. She didn’t listen to anything that I wanted. It will NEVER happen again. It was horrible. So please, please don’t be afraid to let them know what you want. I’m 57 and don’t wear a lot of makeup and it felt and looked like a mask!!
Never would have I ever used that Fenty highlighter on the cheeks, but I use it regular as a single eye shadow and I am loving it, with a bit of neutral crease shade and creamy eyeliner/shade. But I hate those blushes on temples, looks weird, unnatural, and even beaten if it is mauve/rosewood/deeper or darker shade. Also, then highlighter is adding texture/lines under the eyes. Weird. Bad. And this kind of makeup facelift does work only on small faces, not Susan that has well, big enough lower third.
Susan, now that youve had your wedding makeup look done in the American standard of what a larger eye/sulpted face is, I’d absolutely love it if you would have your face done by well known shop/artist in Korea. Their definition of creating a larger eye seems to be quite different (not filling the outer lower lash for example) and it would be so cool to learn from both!
I love the look 110%. What I don’t like is the upper lip filler Susan has that makes it look like she has a bit of a mustache. Women have to be very careful about where they get their filler placed because it can create a shadow and make it look like you have a mustache or like you drank chocolate milk and didn’t wipe it off the top of your lip

Such a pretty bridal look you’ve done. And really, a pretty look for anytime! Love that glow. When I got married, I did a look a lot like this. No falsies, nothing too glam. Funny story, actually. A month or two before my wedding, I did a practice run with my chosen makeup artist; and I hated it. I didn’t feel like me. It was too heavy and felt like costume makeup. Then, my makeup artist went into labor a day before my wedding, and her backup wasn’t only available, she was amazing. She’d done makeup in her home country, for the red carpet. And she nailed exactly what I wanted. She used a lot of my own makeup, which also helped me look and feel more me. I think we did a combo of my usual lip gloss and her liner to make it stay. Somehow, it worked out!
I did my own makeup for my wedding. The best advice is to practice over and over again. Take pictures in different lighting to see how the makeup looks in picture, and to get the whole picture. Wear white clothes (if you’re wearing a white dress). The white will bring out different tones and undertones in your skin and makeup you might not notice with other colors in your clothes. Also the season play a part. Summer, sun and brightness and very warm tones in your surroundings, Autumn also very warm colors, but can also be a bit cooler and darker (cloudy).. winter, very cool and white and cold. And yes! Take your time. Start early! I started too late and was done too late so I didn’t have time to do my hair properly😅

Love this very ethereal look. Frequently, wedding looks are overboard. I understand wanting to look special. It’s just that nerves kick in on your wedding day and people end up a little heavy handed from nerves. If aDIY bride starts with this look, she’s likely to end up in between this and full Glam anyway. That’s just a little hint to brides. Don’t be surprised if you end up “more” than the natural look. It’s ok. You’ll get 100 hugs and kisses. You’ll still be gorgeous be the end of the night with this layering.

I think this is a really good idea. I generally skip the bridal make up articles because of that same reason that they super exaggerated and they don’t represent me at all. But I gave this one a chance because I love what you do. And I was not disappointed! For european users, there is an spf spray that is after makeup safe, or over makeup that doesn’t disrupt your makeup, so if you are already done with everything you can try that for your spf, gerovital, la roche posay and some more brands have dry spray spf or you can get spf powder or setting powder if you are user pf powder.

I have normal to dry skin—I have a foundation combo that works with my primer, but it’s not as full coverage as I would like, so it’s been the biggest struggle.
You look beautiful. I got married last year, and searched youtube like crazy looking for bridal looks. They were all too neutral and heavy for me. I wanted to look like me.. I did my own makeup and wore lite orange and purple shadow.. lol. (I got married in Oct.) I felt beautiful, and ethereal in my chosen colors. No falsies.. My husband loved it, and I felt like myself. My base was light and natural. I look back at my pictures and am so happy I did it myself, so that I looked the way I wanted.
I find this is pretty much the look that most of the brides I take care of want with a little more eye drama. I would highly recommend the Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayons for lips. They are incredibly long-wearing and very comfortable. I keep #15 and #25 ready because they are beautiful nude shades that seem to flatter everyone. I would also suggest practicing several times and taking some pictures. If the wedding will be outside in the late afternoon, try and take pictures then. In other words, try to match the venue and lighting.
