  • Incredibly bombastic. Style-Over-Substance at its finest. The Queen resquested a sermon of no more than 7 minutes. He doubled it, he made it all about himself. He was repetitive and shallow in his message. He was too theatrical. The reverend was totally irreverent and completely over-the-top inappropriate.

  • I have two questions. Bishop Curry said repeatedly that love is the answer to all problems, personal and otherwise, this is fine as far as it goes, in fact, it is a truism with which very few would disagree, but I am left with a couple of question marks. My first question is, did he ever define what he meant by love? Or did he leave it for everyone to define love for themselves? If so, then this was a very Politically Correct sermon. Please correct me if I missed something. My second question is, did he give any concrete advice to the married couple for practising the love of which he was speaking? I mean down-to-earth illustrations of how to apply love in a day-to-day situation? After the glamour of the wedding, the couple will come down to earth and it’s in that environment that mature and practical guidelines are essential. I’m afraid that I had the distinct impression that this sermon lacked substance, no firm and Bible-based definitions and no practical advice. If I missed something, then I am hoping that somebody will be able to correct me. I also hope that it will be without insults.

  • I can relate to the reactions from the royal family. I’m from an Orthodox reform church – happened to (accidentally) walk in to a Black gospel church (for the first time) one sunday. I and members of my family went from 1) what is going on (confusion) looking left and right because nobody seemed to stay in their seats – it was a floating congregation everyone was singing and dancing a senior woman in front of us seemed to have a very emotional response service seemed to never end and we had to walk out after a while…it was definitely different and I enjoyed seeing the difference but we had those exact same reactions lol!! Anyone would if they’ve never been to that style of worship and are not expecting it!!

  • I did not hear true love, the love mentioned in 1 Cor. 13. That sort of love is from God, the preachers love was from his political mind. Yes, just like Obama’s preacher, who is a racist himself. This guy took advantage of the situation for his own agenda. It had nothing to do with Harry and Meghan. Meghan probably new that and that’s what she wanted and she got it. Harry looked nervous as he was going on and on above”love” and how Martin Luther King felt. If you use the name of Martin L. King, show some respect not the show he put on.

  • He told everyone in the world where real power comes from. Not only from just love, but from living the sacrificial love ofJesus! I am a white Catholic…and I got it. It’s not my tradition….but the message rocked…if you listened! It is the biggest lesson we can learn. I think it’s a difficult message, and if you’re shaky in faith…it may be impossible to hear at deepest level. Yeah Rev. Curry!

  • Looking at the photos I can see that the RF are like most other family’s. There’s always one in the family who marries a man/women that the rest have to endure. I can’t for the life of me see why the pair of them couldn’t have nipped to Las Vegas, had the wedding of there dreams and stopped our nightmares.

  • It’s only the American guests that enjoyed it as they are used to over the top sermons in their own churches. Harry looked embarrassed but tried to look like he agreed with it. Zara looks like she was going to go into labour with shock and Beatrice just confirmed what everyone else was thinking. Even kate eyeballed and sideways glanced at camilla who wouldn’t take the smile off of her face! It was a joke. Everyone perusal at home laughed and you’ll be lying if you say you didn’t! It was embarrassing and cringy! Nobody in that church, how many there are laughing couldn’t have been wrong! But then Harry and Meghan have continuously gone out of their way to embarrass the queen since so this was just the starter course! The queen must have been pinching herself under the order of service to stop herself laughing! I have so much respect for the queen. She doesn’t deserve the embarrassed caused by her child and grandchild! This makes me roar with laughter every time! 😂

  • I thought it was hillarious and very true. Americans have to understand that this chapel is about 600 years old and the traditions surrounding the royal family are sometimes over a thousand years old so it is strange to see this especially with the Queen present. That’s why we love Harry…no fucks were given! Beautiful wedding

  • I had a similar experience to this as a British person whose British male friend married an American woman, she wanted her American sermon leader to come over from the states and he also gave a gushy talk about Love. It was cheesy and cringey .. and led to awkward silences among the British attendees when the he tried to get the attendees to engage ….but she got it her way.

  • If anyone was stone-faced, it was Harry. Will, Kate and their cousins Beatrice and Eugene looked like they were about to burst out laughing any minute. The problem is that people dont realize that in English churches, it is frowned upon to express feelings like this with yelling and exaggerated movements especially if you are the priest or reverend. In fact, even the people that attend church are discouraged from openly showing emotions. Thus, these bewildered reactions are not happening because they are royalty but because they are BRITISH and this wasn’t an appropriate behavior in an English church. Having said that, this behavior is typically seen in American churches so considering that the whole ceremony attempted to include aspects of both British AND American culture, I don’t thing the Queen or the rest of the royals disapproved of it in this setting.

  • It wasn’t the only the RF that was having a time either the sermon. I would say at least 85% of viewing public were a bit perplexed (?) or unsure about it. It was a bit much and I couldn’t sit through the whole thing. Looking at her facial expression closely, she was concentrating, hard, on something else. She was not present in that performance. He looked like he wanted outta there. He was clearly uncomfortable after it went on and on.

  • He did go on too long, but the fire point was well made. He regarded love as the second discovery of fire. That when we learn to love, the affect will be as far reaching and as fundamentally changing to the evolution of humanity as the discovery of fire. He needs an editor, but the message eventually came through. When you go off too long on a tangent without making your point, you blunt the impact of your words.

  • I don’t think Prince Harry and Meghan expected this as well and kept their composure up to the end. If you notice, they kept glancing at each other and than Meghan gave Harry that look like they were going to bust out laughing. This was kind of like an inside joke for them. Such a fun couple and so down to earth. It was good to see who had manners among the Royals. Clearly it was Prince William, Prince Charles and Duchess Kate if you notice how they also stayed composed and how Kate gave Camilla that look. Wish them all the best!

  • I’m American and this was waaayyy over the top for my liking! I just Googled the guy, Bishop Curry was appointed a serving Brother of the Order of St. John by Queen Elizabeth II, 25, July, 2015, three years before this wedding! But yes she had had enough about halfway through this diatribe! Zara is my favorite, you can tell she is extremely uncomfortable she’s ready to birth that baby, she probably had to pee so bad, but she wasn’t leaving and miss that! She’s probably wishing she’d worn depends at that point! Sarah The Duchess of York……. She’s thinking yeah I’m out of the frying pan and Meghan is in! 🙌🏻

  • I was told to watch this….and my reaction…..what a nutter!! Where did he come from…Meaghan paid him to be there?. Only Meghan and Harry seemed to be in agreement with the clergy. everyone else looked perplexed and embarrassed! if you call that sermon..melodramatic…wrong place man…as an American,..I apologize!!!

  • It’s the televised views in the media’e eyes ( they cut to the confused look, stifled laugh or yawn) Isn’t the Episcopal Church sermon all about passion, contemplation, thought and laughter? I attended an Episcopal Church wedding of friends many years ago and the congregation reacted in much the same way as those did today at Windsor Castle. The message given by church ministers is the same… it’s the delivery that is different. So what if some laughed or gave side-wards glances. Love is love… no matter how the sermon is delivered.

  • I think this was a little bit of a clash of cultures. If you look at the reaction from the Americans in the audience, or Brits who have spent a lot of time in the U.S. (e.g. David Beckham), most recognized this style of preaching. It is very common especially with African American congregations. The Brits, on the other hand, do not have the same oratory style woven into their cultural tapestry. They are use to a style of preaching that is much more subdued especially in front of the Queen where everything is much more traditional and proper. I think people are reading way too much into the expressions of the Royals and others in the Church. Yes, they probably are not use to Reverend Curry’s preaching style but they are even less use to people disregarding the carefully constructed schedule that the Queen abide by and everyone else by extension.

  • He was way to animated and went to long turning into his show,,,,,, Some of those preachers It was not his service ……. He was way out of line I kept thinking wow when is he going to shut up already It was not even a scripture or two Poor choice in having him Others will note his action He was not proper at all Everyone cringed even is at home

  • I go to a church every sunday, and our preacher is very much like the English, quieter and not so boisterous. But we had German preachers preach at our church and even I would have a hard time keeping in the laughing, because they were so boisterous. If Britians are not used to this, I can see why they would be almost amused and confused. Yes, its the word of God and it was a nice sermon, but sometimes you cannot help it lol. And, btw the royals are human beings-people just like us. There is so much hate of how they acted inappropriately, but obviously the haters weren’t ever in this kind of situation before.

  • Jajajajajaj !!Y QUEE?? LA VERDAD ES QUE ESE CURITA HIZO REIR A MUCHOS !! CON SU ESTILO Y LOS INGLESES POR NATURALEZA SON MAS SERIOS ASI QUE YO TÀMBIEN ME DIVERTI DE LO LINDO Y ESTA FUE LA PARTE DE LA BODA QUE MAS ME GUSTO!! Y NE ENCANTA LA MIRADA DE KATEE !! NO ERA PARA MAS !ME ENCANTAÀAA LA APLAUDO !! UNA Y MIL VECES MAS!! JAJAJAJA

  • THAT WAS VERY INTERESTING….. jajajaaja Hard to understand why that guy went there. British are not used to that kind of speeches ….. That was a mistake. I saw the Queen’s face static and disoriented, and I saw the Queen’s husband looking at her… well, well, well…. there was something to remember

  • Why didnt they book a good comedian insted ? Maybe ask Ben Elton or Rowan Atkinson to do a slot instead at next royal show after the divorce or bumping her off to clear the way for another bird – hope he gets one with big nuts nnext time, the duke would have preffered that I reckon, a royal with a decent set of knockers….

  • He talked about love, people. LOVE. We all profess we want to be loved: “I want to be loved”. “If someone can just love me”. It is love that brings Meghan and Harry together. What better event to talk about the power of love than at a wedding? He knew this is not his usual congregation and that the whole world will tune in to watch the event. Imagine if we all decide to love one another, what a truly wonderful world that would be? LOVE ONE ANOTHER, FOR GOD IS LOVE. AND LOVE IS OF GOD. Looking back to how Meghan was treated, it is clear the family didn’t listen.

  • It was amusing to watch, but I don’t think the royal family was displeased; it was just different from what they were used to. Elton John was the only one with the negative expression on his face. He isn’t a fan of religion, but he knew he was going to a church wedding and it wasn’t all about him. Move on…

  • I think it’s sad that the bishop took all the attention off the bride and groom.i think he wanted to be remembered and used this as his platform.all around the world ppl noticed this and are talking about that bishop.when remembering prince Harry’s wedding it will always be remember that bishop omg fire!

  • He preached about Love…it was a beautiful sermon those who disliked are affected because they don’t know about this type of preaching…they want to listen to boring speeches and nothing that touches spiritually, neither makes one think differently. Love love love how can anyone dislike or say he spoke for too long??!! He spoke about the most natural beautiful emotional feeling LOVE! How can you hVe an issue with that would you prefer he talk about hate? That we should hate one another? That we should not live in unity? And we should treat one another as we ourself would like to be treated? I LOVED his preaching it could have gone on for an hour or more for all I care because it was about peace and love the very thing we as human beings were made from SEX=LOVE 👊🏿💥💖💯

  • I did not see him as a great theologian, at all. He was extremely inappropriate to preach at this time and place, in front of royalty. These people that filled St. George’s Chapel are well educated, refined, dignified, elegant, sophisticated. He came into his speech quoting Martin Luther King. It became a speech based on race when he mentions slavery and captives, why even go there? The poor Queen looked pissed and rightly so. I am sure all heads of royalty wanted to snap around and see her face as this sermon droned on and Bishop Curry dug his grave, and Meaghan’s grave deeper and deeper into the ground. Curry talked of poverty to the richest woman of the world. Then mentioned governments, to which she is the Queen of one. My God, Meaghan looked like she was telling herself “this was a bad idea” and I am sure. And I am sure she just wanted him to zip his jaws and stop preaching, exit stage left. It did not go over well, First rule of thumb: You just gotta know your audience. I am sure the Queen has written her and Harry off as two imbeciles of the family. He preached like an actor doing a dramatic play on stage. For those of you remarking about me being a snob and such, this Catholic Bishop had no CLASS. He preached to help those in poverty and changing the world at a 46 million dollar wedding, (though I heard it was more like 60 million). Bad judgement call. The WORST PART OF HIS SERMON IS RACIST ANTAGONISM….So inappropriate to even mention poverty, slavery, slaves being in the mists of captivity.

  • Some of the commentary here is ridiculous. 1) The Queen has to approve all the elements of the Royal Wedding. While she may not have known exactly what would be said by Presiding Bishop Curry, she knew he would be speaking and likely knew what his personality and “delivery style” would be. (He did go over the alloted time by about 5 min, though) 2) The Episcopalian church, of which Bishop Curry is the Presiding Bishop, is part of the Anglican Communion, along with the Church of England. So the references to speaking in tongues, southern crazy, etc are a bit much. 3) He was talking about love and God – how is that making it all about him?

  • They probably not used to such a passionate speech sermon. British sermons are probably more stoic. Notice the bishop i think does not move or smirk behind Curry. Lol i found myself just perusal Camillas pepto bismol hat move hoping she not gonna knock out Kate Middletown. He talking about love in such a passionate way the Royals probably did not know how to react to it. Smile or confusion. Harry and Meg getting a kick out of it all they knew the kind of sermon he give.

  • Honestly I think the Royal Family was rude, as hell, they didn’t act very royal, they normally never show emotion, all of a sudden they were clowning, I’m sorry even if he was loud and talk to long, they need to show some respect if not for the Pastor, or Meghan at least have some respect for Harry, I mean that is your blood family, they are a bunch of snops in that moment I was actually embarrassed of there behavior.

  • The preaching was way over the top, desperate looking, full of verbose and looked ridiculous. It was also funny as fuck to watch. It went on for around 11 minutes longer than it had to, with repetitive messages about love that seemed to almost beg them to do so. His speech did get bemused reactions from audience members, the latter part of the speech, and indeed some of the ‘love’ bit was bizarre. Hilarious to watch but had nothing to do with the wedding. He talked about fire, car engines and planes…I thought he was going to talk about lemonade, bleach, candles and ice cream for hours on end, be lucky if he finished it that day. It became a parody, he was a parody as were the Royals’ reactions to the clown.

  • …Ok That sermon didn’t make sense, Harry looks embarrassed, Meghan looks entranced by his every word or acting like it(i mean what choice did she have it was her wedding), Everyone is like …what?…it was uncomfortable to watch, I never even liked Megan and almost felt embarrassed for her, or more so for Harry, he seemed to literally wipe sweat from his face. Actually I feel bad for the other Royal family members, this was embarrassing, everyone’s facial expressions showed what most people felt perusal it I think. 🤣🤣

  • It’s appalling to stand there and give a sermon about love (mostly waffling on about things that don’t make sense) when these two people haven’t even been together for 2 seconds to know anything about love. It’s lust like most marriages these days. You can’t know what love is until you know Jesus . Period. And by the way these two have been acting, there is no love there. And that is unfortunate 😕

  • The wedding was good, the ‘church sermon’ was too long and breathy’ to the point of hogging up wedding and time for royals to be articletaped by the cameramen/women, so that is wrong, sorry but it was NOT a church sermon or all about africans/ black africans, I wonder if whites even matter as a race anymore, or even Native Americans …. Nice that Harry and Meghan met in a bar as well.. freedom of speech UsA congratulations on your marriage . What little time you had the camera on you both.

  • This is priceless… Beatrice and Eugenie are panning the room for the hidden candid camera. Will and Charles are literally giggling. That is until reality hit Charles square in the eyes. At first Camilla seems very confused and we all know she is not a fan of royal etiquette. She goes from confused to pissed. She knows Charles totally blew his chances to be King and therefore, Camilla will never be queen. Poor Charles after getting over the shock, he looks down at the ground. You know he is thinking “Oh, dear God! I am gonna get a royal beat down from mommy, aka queen of England. I just put my stamp of approval on this debacle and even walked her down the aisle to give her away.” Fear really sets in when he considers Camilla’s reaction of never being queen. He must be lamenting, “Damn it… It’s gonna be a long, long, long time before I can resume my duties as tampon to Camilla.” He//, Meghan can’t stop giggling. Did Meghan even know this minister? As each detail comes to light, it gets harder to dispute the opinions that the Royal family needed to be be more PC when it comes to relations with black society which to me is even more appalling. Her American co stars on Suit looking just as confused.

  • You gotta love prince harry,if the royal family survives after queen elizabeth passes,it would be harry and meghan who would be the ones to hold it up,people only have real affection for queen elizabeth because of her longevity, harry is the most popular royal after the queen, william and kate are like a young couple stuck in the 1940’s thinking they are holding tradition, but theres been alot of powerfull royal familys in europe that didnt survive because they refused to embrace change, the british royals have been able to survive because of rebels like diana n naw her son harry who are able to capture the imagination of modern day society aswell as holding old traditions, queen elizabeth herselfe n her sister were seen as the new age royals in their time especially her sister, kate n william would be foolish to think they can emulate the behavior of the queen n prince philip to take us into the future, the british royal family has never stood static thats been the key to their survival compared to other european royals, institutions that cant cope with change eventually die off that goes in business n all walks of life,im sure queen elizabethsII reign wasnt the same as elizath1,so i hope kate n william dont try to be elizabeth n philip part2 in this morden times
