An expert stylist has provided advice on what brides should wear under their wedding dresses, including lingerie, bras, and underwear. The choice of undergarments depends on the style of the dress, bust size, and personal preference. Most brides wear shapewear like Honey Love or Spanx, while 28% wear underwear without shapewear. For shoes, consider the dress’s cut, back, and overall structure.
Prepare for comfort by choosing undergarments that you feel at ease in and can wear for an extended period. Nude silicone cups or those sewn into the dress itself can give you the most natural feel and be practically invisible. Body-hugging silhouettes highlight your best features but hide them.
Some brides choose to wear a strapless or backless bra, a corset, or shapewear, such as Spanx, to smooth out bumps or lumps. Some brides may also wear a petticoat or crinoline to add fullness to their skirts.
Strapless and backless bras are typically the best options for wedding dresses, but this will vary based on your gown. A curated collection of wedding dress shape wear includes full bodysuits, briefs, shorts, half-slips, and leggings in various styles.
In summary, choosing the right undergarments for a wedding depends on the dress’s cut, fit, bust size, and personal preferences. By selecting the right undergarments, brides can create a unique and comfortable look for their special day.

In both history and the present, petticoats are undergarments worn under skirts or dresses to keep warm or make them look good.
Edit: Terminology Sometimes a petticoat is called a waist slip or underskirt (UK) or half slip (US). A petticoat is only for very full garments. A chemise hangs from the shoulders. Petticoat can also mean a full-length slip in the UK, but this is old-fashioned.

It was a kind of padded underwear worn by men to keep warm. The petticoat developed as a skirt worn under an overgown at the end of the Middle Ages. By the 16th century, the overgown had an opening at the front and the petticoat was decorated. In the 17th century, the outer skirt was looped up, showing the petticoat underneath. In the 18th century, the petticoat was worn with the inverted V opening of the polonaise. In the early 19th century, women wore many petticoats to show the fullness of their skirts. After that, petticoats were worn less and less.

The most unusual wedding that I know of personally was my nephew’s. The ceremony itself was on a floating platform in the middle of a stream in Hawaii. The bride wore an off-white two-piece bathing suit with ruffles and a shear off white wrap around skirt with a crown of white flowers in her long hair. The bridesmaids wore pink one-piece bathing suits with pink flowers in their hair. The most unusual part of the ceremony was the entrance of the bride and bridesmaids. Instead of walking down an aisle the bride knelt on the front end of a surfboard with her father standing towards the back paddling it down the stream towards the platform. The bridesmaids swam in front of the surfboard. Those attending the wedding sat on chairs along the shoreline surrounded by a grove of tall bamboo. Several years later they are still happily married now with four kids and running an organic farm there in Hawaii.
The people having a go at the unicorn dress clearly don’t get it. This was probably pressure from her mother. It’s the brides day if she wants a rainbow dress why not? Virginal white has long lost that symbolism. The naked bride is the one that made me laugh. I appreciate the shock value of the consultant finding a dress that went beyond what she was coming in.
If anyone knows how to get this to Randy, will you please help. Dear Randy, You’ve brought me to tears many times because you’ve said how much you wanted children, especially a daughter. I understand because I’m childless too. BUT, I think that you actually have thousands of daughters because you’ve helped them find the perfect dress or you’ve designed the perfect dress. Your name is mentioned every time the bride shows her wedding pictures. They’re not your biological daughters, but they love you. Sincerely, Robin Addis-Vaughn PS: Plus, find a surrogate and have a baby if you want one! You’re not too old.
The only thing that bothers me is that mothers want to enforce their taste on their daughter. I understand that it’s your daughter and you want her to look beautiful and you have probably envisioned her in a dress and you want to see her in it, but this is about the bride, and what she feels confident and beautiful in and what she wants to walk down the aisle in. I just wish the entourage would simply respect the bride and her taste, and just support her and Not Input their own taste.
#1. Naked Bride I don’t get this person but THATS fine.. #2. Underwater Bride Beautiful bride, her gown was lovely lovely! #3. Wiccan/winged bride was enchanting #4. Unicorn bride was so happy to find her regurgitated rainbow dress #5. Coney Island bride gorgeous starting her life screaming for joy with her husband Bride#6. Marathon Bride ….she was a winner. I hoped to see her veil streaming behind her 🙁
So l’m very late to comment but l absolutely love and adore brides who are very true to themselves and that follow their hearts. There is nothing wrong with traditional weddings at all, but l find more beauty in weddings that are outside of the ‘norm’…… be it just their wedding dress, where their nuptials take place for the romance of ‘l do’ or where they have their reception/party/get-together or all of these combined…… Tradition is always a beautiful thing, but traditions aren’t set in stone and so can be broken or altered…. Regardless of what a bride wants and her groom wants for their wedding day, the outcome is and will always be the same….. a loving couple who have said their vows and ‘l do’s’ in front of the people who love them to become a married couple and have their happily ever-after and in the end….. isn’t this what all brides and grooms want?!
I don’t know, honestly, my opinion. If you’re going to spend all that money on a wedding dress, why do such obscene things to ruin it? I guess I’m too old fashioned, but I feel like a wedding should be beautiful and sacred. No matter the religion. (If that was an issue) But really, if you wanted something different for your wedding, OK by all means have at it, but why waste your money by getting an expensive dress just to get it wet or sweaty or even pay thousands of dollars just to be seen NOT wearing anything? Makes no sense to me. Call me crazy, but I work too hard to have my money burned away like that.
I wonder how people come up with these crazy ideas. I can sort of understand amusement park and even diving (sort of) but running a marathon in a wedding dress?! It’s almost like people don’t have enough problems in life to run (I find marathon thing meaningless by itself but anyway) AND run in uncomfortable clothes that’s as far from sports clothes as it gets. Like why?!
The slingshot was nice. Indeed, you don’t forget such a fun wedding. That was quite a launch 🙂 The others: the one more ridiculous, than the other. It’s a marriage. Can someone hand me a dictionary, please? I thought I knew, what that meant, but it seems it has a different meaning now. The rainbow girl didn’t get her wish though. She should have gone to a costume shop, instead.
At Cedar Point in 1975 or ’76, a wedding was held in the Ballroom, which is located above the big old Coliseum building. Two seasonal, college-student employees met, dated, and fell in love at the park. One tale I heard which I admit up front may be completely false was, the couple wanted to get married on a coaster, but a liability insurance rider (sorry — pun is not my fault!) for the event was too much for the park to absorb, and way too much for the bridal party to pay.
Love the individuality of the wedding themes. It’s too bad and a crying shame that some narcissists feel the need to come on the comment sections and try to ruin it all. These pious self righteous narcissists can’t stand anything beyond a traditional religious church wedding wearing white. They think it gives them the right to put others down simple who have different opinions of what they want for a wedding. It’s sad and pathetic.
Sorry, but I cannot see spending $1600 on a gown just to have it cut off to knee length when there are bridal dresses that are already made short. There are a lot of websites that sell such a dress and they’re even in bridal shops. Oh well. It’s her money. I also couldn’t spend money on a gown if I knew it was going to get wet. But, to each her own I guess. Not my wedding, nor my day.
Naked bride, ha! She was all drama. Underwater bride she is cute. Not a fan of the wedding. Too white. What a cry baby. Amusement bride dress was pretty. Run away bride, eh. It’s like they are all trying too hard to be different and they lose the beauty of two becoming one. Too much of a sideshow. 😂
To anyone reading this: God loves you more than you could ever imagine. Don’t turn away from Him. Romans 5:8-10; “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”
All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life. Proverbs 7:22,23 Rejecting God/Jesus as savior will cost you your life and eternal place in heaven.
