Why do we call it bride?

The word “bride” comes from the Old English word “bryd,” which is also used in other Germanic languages. In Western countries, brides wear white wedding dresses. This tradition started with Queen Victoria. White dresses were once seen as a symbol of luxury because they were hard to clean. Today, Western brides can wear any color dress, regardless of how many times they’ve been married. In non-Western countries, brides often wear traditional clothes. White wedding dresses are uncommon in Asian cultures because they symbolize mourning and death. Red represents health and is worn by brides in many Asian cultures. Some brides wear more than one outfit, as seen in Japan, India, and parts of the Arab world.

Bridal jewelry has cultural significance, like wedding rings in Western cultures, chura (red and white bangles) in Punjabi Sikh culture, and mangalsutra in Hindu culture. Brides often wear veils and carry flowers. Wedding traditions have changed over time. For example, the cake-eating and the bride-cup had symbolic meanings.

What is a bride in Japanese?

花嫁 is a bride, as the Oxford English Dictionary defines it. A woman is sometimes called “bride” only for a few days or when she’s in her wedding dress.

Wife is a female spouse. A woman, wife, of any age.

Yome is used based on her position in the family. The dictionary says this is a young woman who married into a family. A grandma might call her 25-year-old daughter-in-law うちの嫁. There’s no clear answer on how long one can be called 嫁 after marriage. But an older family member may still call her 嫁, even after 20 years. Phrases like 嫁に行く, 嫁に入る, 嫁を探す, 嫁になる all have family connotations. A husband may call her wife my wife, my wife, or my spouse. In a formal situation, use 妻 or 家内. • Excellent interview. They both seem like they had terrific weddings. Although I’d give it to the woman with the beret. I love the idea of families being introduced to each other. VERY COOL. In America who the heck knows. There is everything you can possibly imagine. I saw a bride brought in on the back of a Harley Davidson right down the wedding aisle. My niece was married in a Wonder Woman outfit and husband in Batman outfit. Guests were asked to wear something no matter how small with some sort of relation to the D.C.Comics world. (no Spiderman or Iron Man etc ) Another was a full Catholic Mass ceremony that I thought would NEVER end. Hour and a half. THEN off to the reception. And in a catholic church with NO AC in the summer. What were they thinking. Another was a sort of traditional ceremony with white dress at a small chapel then off to another location for the party. Wore the usual suit and tie. Another was at Disneyland with everyone dressed up…well most of them in character. I went as Uncle Scrooge ANOTHER was a NUDE wedding at a nudist colony and almost everyone stripped. Those that didn’t got pretty skimpy clothing. Yep I was sans clothing Another I went to in Hawaii was UNDER WATER. I wasn’t exactly a guest as I was part of the dive team for safety reasons but I was there. Only 6 people were part of the wedding ceremony with a live stream going to the guests above water in a yacht. So when you say what is it like in “your’ country…ANYTHING and everything goes.

  • For my part of western culture, there are 2 main options I’m familiar with: wedding ceremony at church for family and close friends followed by the wedding reception with usually more guests. This can be held at the family’s home or a rented venue, like a ballroom at a hotel or restaurant and such. having a judge, government official, or generally someone that’s certified to do so officiate their marriage (this is the quicker one that’s more focused on just getting the marriage license certified)

  • Woow so i was just perusal i think its called “yes to the dress ” and then it made me wonder what type of wedding will i have. So i am part black, japanese, and korean but i grew up in america so i am most likely going to have my wedding the way americans usually have theirs but i have recently wanted to learn more about my other cultures so maybe i might change my mind in the future but i most likely won’t.

  • I’ve seen a Traditional Shinto wedding of a you tuber I subscribe to, it is beautiful, th Bride is so lovely! I noticed you are wearing A Star Of David. In a a Traditional Jewish wedding, after the vows, The Best Man places a glass at the Grooms feel and he steps on it breaking the glass for good luck. My Wife is Catholic so we were married in Church, the ceremony is just as nice. 30 years come next May.

  • I saw the aggressive feminism’s comments on a web board that ‘Japanese women being the housewives to their husband’s torture. ‘ Well, I really want to show them this good article. Japanese husband’s never torture their wives, otherwise tell the wives to have fun. 😎 Who’s gonna torture the wives? They will sleep in jail, if they do. 😂 Anyways, gosh! Sharing sake = kiss sound so romantic and beautiful!!!!
