  • I AM SO TORN! I cannot choose between an oval or emerald cut. The emerald cut SPEAKS to me, I love everything about it! But all of the jewelers I have spoke with have told me the flaws will be so noticeable… The oval is pretty too but it doesn’t have that unique stairway shine that I absolutely adore….

  • A buyer must see at least 3 stones that are the same size and same price side by side. Diamonds are very different and the nice ones will stand out. Find a jeweler that will show you 3 elongated cushion cut stones with a ratio between 1.27 and 1.30. Specifically ask for one to be a hybrid. I predict that the hybrid stands out above the brilliant and the modified (crushed ice). If your budget allows for a stone with a large table ( ie. 2+ ct round or 1.5 ct elongated cushion/radiant/oval) you need to choose a higher clarity of at least vvs2. To be as safe as possible, don’t buy any stone that is not engraved.
