After the Battle of Worcester, Charles and his followers fled to White Ladies Priory and Boscobel House. Charles was first taken to White Ladies Priory by Charles Giffard and Francis Yates. Yates was later executed for his part in the escape. The Penderel family, tenants and servants of the Giffards, began to care for him. The King was disguised as a woodman by Charles Giffard and the Penderels. From White Ladies, Richard Penderel led Charles in an unsuccessful attempt to cross the Severn near Madeley, Shropshire. They had to go back and Charles went to Boscobel. On September 6, 1651, he met William Careless, a local Brewood native who was one of the last royalists to escape the battlefield. Careless’ rank is reported as captain, major, or colonel.

  • Your spinning was sick af 🔥. If you’d permit me to be “that guy” I’d recommend holding the saber close to the emitter rather than at the bottom because it enables more dexterity and mitigates the chances of dropping the saber plus it allows you to place your non dominant hand toward the bottom for additional power during strikes.

  • What I’ve done? You faced the shadow inside, and chose to embrace the dark side. Every tragedy you have wrought, the festering of every scar and the corruption flowing in your veins, is the culmination of your own decision. You will not find freedom until you accept your faults, face your shadow and restitution, and make hatred your tempered sword for striking the archenemy rather than your corpus plasma, poisoning the wellwater of community wherever you tread.

  • British Citizens & Tourists, you should exercise some respect for the Royal Guards. It is the right thing to do. I know you all admire the Guards, and dream of being one someday, but you should make way for them to pass or move about freely. I’m a hundred percent sure, they will appreciate you more for that. 😅😊🙏🏼👍🏿

  • Cool. I had to come to the comments to understand, because I am also a tourist. Had no idea what happened. But I get it. She was standing for a picture.. whatever else was happening.. she stepped aside for and then this happened? And they got a little extra. London is so unique. I’d have no idea how to act over there. I often wonder how do they feel about tourists? Do they get annoyed at people? Because we don’t know how to conduct ourselves. Some of us are there just to enjoy and share in culture.. but don’t want to impede in other people’s property. And if it annoys them.. I surely don’t want to do it.. I am not one of those people that wants to see the world at others expenses. But I want others to enjoys and share in my culture.. ya know.

  • Is it just me? Every time I watch these guys marching the sound track for the soldiers guarding the wicked witch of West’s castle come to mind. Sorry, no disrespect but the Wizard of Oz was my son’s favorite movie and I had to listen to it several times every week for over 30 years. I smile every time I see these guys on a article – The movie makes me cry as I miss my son – if you knew him you would understand.

  • I don’t think these tourists are rude, they’re ignorant. They simply think is OK to touch the horses, make fun, and stupidities like these. They should be educated that the Royal Guards are not a Circus, is an old British Institution, and if you are there, you need to understand this, or get the hell out and never come back.

  • The changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace is seen by millions every year. People are in shock and awe when they witness this daily event. Personally after all the centuries that have passed you would think the guards would know how to change themselves!😂😂😂 (I know this is not the palace, I’ve been there several times)

  • Do people not understand how weird and disrespectful it is to just sit and literally stare, fuck with, and take photos of men just doing their job? Would you go to the bank to mess with and take photos of the security guard? Would you go to an insurance company, walk up to the fourth floor, and start making fun of Deborah in accounting, blocking her way, making articles of her, while she’s trying to make her way to the fax machine?

  • Guys please hear GOD LOVE US ALL THAT WHY HE SEND HIS OWN LOVELY SON TO DIE FOR US WE MUST LOVE HIM TOO AMEN AND PRAY TO GOD AND THANK HIM EVERYDAY FOR HEALTH please believe In Jesus and Holy Mary pray to them world is getting far from God thats why disasters happening please repeat seriously have a nice day ❤❤

  • When I was there in 2005 and for me and my best friend, who actually lives there now in London, she grew up going there every single summer, but we were so insane… I was yelling at the changing of the guard ceremony. “Get me an application.” we were so fucked… no matter where we are now in the wicked awkward situation will just be like “hey, can you get me an application? ” …. Like these people probably have to serve in the military for so long before they’re even considered. I’m sure this is how it is. I’d be shocked if it wasn’t in here I am stupid American at the gates, which they’re so far away. They probably could barely even hear us. I don’t know where they are in this, but it’s just we were so stupid stupid Americans to the fullest.

  • It’s a bit of a tough one this is. Because it’s a army tradition which dates back centuries. No monarch has been killed while they were on guard. So In that respect obe could say it’s hugely important. But is it also a outdated a ceremony that today seems to be little more than a tourest attraction ? Yes in my opinion . There are armed police all over that place. So is it fair that a attraction where they can treat the public badly like they did to that kady without scrutiny. No in my opinon. There are traditions that hold true and deserve respect. But if the public are going to be treated like shite for doing absolutely nothing wrong. They may aswell give Buckhouse a swerve and go visit Karen’s cafe.
