What To Wear To A Colombian Wedding?

Colombian weddings are a celebration of the country’s rich cultural heritage and traditions. Men are expected to wear trousers and closed-toe shoes, especially at night. Girls can opt for skinny jeans, a pretty shirt, sandals, flats, and heels. Colombian brides are known for their impeccable sense of style and attention to detail in their wedding attire. The Guayabera is the customary attire for any man attending a Colombian wedding, including the groom. This white suit made of cotton or linen is both stylish and traditional.

The bride usually wears a traditional Colombian wedding dress, while men wear a well-fitted shirt, matching trousers, and an optional tie. Colombian wedding traditions include the Colombian Bridal Shower, Candle Ceremony, Belt Contest, Godmother and Godfather, Las Arras (Gold Coins), and La Hora Loca (The Crazy Hour).

For destination weddings in Colombia, it is essential to choose a date that works for both you and your guests, decide on a budget, find a venue that fits your vision and budget, and hire a wedding planner. Single male guests should also wear belts as a symbol of masculinity.

Colombian weddings are known for their passion and intensity, with brides often wearing long dresses and men wearing black suits and ties. Daytime weddings are more casual, with lighter fabrics, festive colors, and less-formal attire being the rule. Colombian brides also wear veils called mantilla, which are slightly different from Spanish, Latin American, and other Spanish-speaking countries.

Who pays for a wedding in Colombia?

13. In Spain and Italy, the couples family covers the majority of wedding costs.. One of the biggest struggles of wedding planning is coming up with a budget and figuring out who pays for the event. In European countries like Spain and Italy, couples receive more financial support from their families. Parents or other loved ones pay for two-thirds of wedding expenses in these areas. In South American countries, like Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina, couples contribute more, paying for 55 percent of their own wedding costs.

14. South American couples are more likely to take out a loan to pay for their wedding.. While wedding costs are highest in the U.S. (nearly $30,000 on average!), nearly half of couples in South America take out a loan or incur credit card debt to pay for their big day. The average annual income is lower in countries like Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina than in the U.S., which may explain the need for loans to pay for wedding expenses.

15. Brazilian and Indian couples are most likely to marry in their hometowns.. Though there are certain advantages to hosting a destination wedding, many couples choose to have a hometown wedding to be able to celebrate with more family members and friends. In Brazil and India, nearly 60 percent of couples follow wedding tradition and host hometown weddings, while couples in Argentina and Chile are more likely to host destination weddings (only about 30 percent of couples host hometown weddings in these countries).

Can you wear black to a Mexican wedding?. Yes, its completely acceptable to wear black to a Mexican wedding, whether Catholic or not. Just keep in mind that women should wear a shawl or pashmina to cover their backs and shoulders during the church service.

What colors shouldnt you wear to a Mexican wedding?. You should avoid wearing white or red by any means to any Mexican wedding. Wearing white is considered rude to the bride since they will definitely be wearing white, so choosing to wear the same color on their special day is considered rude. Red, on the other hand, is more of an urban legend. Allegedly, wearing red to someones wedding insinuates that youve slept with one of the newlyweds. So, avoid red unless you want to start drama!

What time do weddings start in Mexico?. Wedding ceremonies usually start in the afternoon, with the church service happening at 3 or 4 in the afternoon and the reception starting at around 5 or 6 in the evening. These times can move a little bit depending on the geographical location and the time of the year, as theyre timed so the best part of the reception coincides with the sunset — both to create a beautiful ambiance and to take the most spectacular wedding photos.

What to wear to a wedding in Cartagena, Colombia?

Choosing appropriate attire for a beach wedding. Keeping in mind that the climate in Cartagena is warm and humid, you will definitely want to dress accordingly. Think light, sleeveless dresses for women made of silks or chiffon. Leave the veil for church, and instead consider a flower crown for those boho, beachy vibes. For men, linen pants and open shirts are the way to go. Ditch the tux and embrace a more casual style for your beach wedding. Sunscreen is a necessity, and keep the makeup light and waterproof when possible. If you are actually planning on tying the knot on the beach, you may want to ditch the shoes completely. High heels and sand do not go well together. Try to make everything as easy for yourself as possible on your big day, so everything flows perfectly. And you will always have our team of expert wedding planners behind you every step of the way. We ensure that the wedding of your dreams becomes a reality.

Finding your Dream Location. So, you know you want a beach wedding. Now, the next question is deciding which of the many gorgeous beaches on Cartagenas coastline and surrounding islands is best for you. If you have always dreamed of an island escape, we highly recommend Fenix Beach Club. Located on Tierra Bomba island, the closest island to Cartagena, the logistics involved with boat transportation arent too complicated. Fenix has a stunning, boho, festival vibe and incredible catering options too. Hundreds of twinkling lights illuminate the beach at night. It gives an ethereal and magical feeling to your special day. They also put on a great party, and the DJ will have your guests dancing until the early hours. Another great option on the same island is Tamarindo Beach House. This location has a perfect beach and pool, giving flawless Caribbean beachy aesthetics for your wedding.

For those willing to travel a little further (just 45 minutes by boat), Las Islas Baru is another stunning beach wedding destination. The peninsular island of Baru is well known for its crystal-clear waters. The secluded location of Las Islas has an intimate and romantic atmosphere. Its luxury huts have an uninterrupted view of the ocean and the surrounding tropical forest of the island. The hotel can host groups of up to 200 guests with the use of the private island Isleta, located just 5 minutes away.

What do you wear to a Hispanic wedding?

Stick to the dress code. For semiformal attire, consider selecting a knee-length dress for women, while men can wear a classic suit with a fun-colored button-down. Alternatively, for black-tie weddings, men should opt for a dark navy or black suit, while women can decide on a floor-length gown in a style that best complements their figure.

Adhering to cultural sensitivities is also wise, so refraining from too-revealing dresses is the safest option. For more religious ceremonies, keep in mind the rules of the venue and adjust your attire accordingly to show your respect.

Hispanic weddings are filled with various traditions, starting from weeks before the big day. From the civil ceremony to La Tornaboda (the day after the reception), guests have many opportunities to partake in treasured traditions to celebrate the happy couple. Whether youre preparing as a guest or hoping to incorporate some customs into your wedding, youll find these cherished ceremonies are memorable moments to mark the special day.

Shop Flatform Sandals. You do a lot of walking in Cartagena, and there are cobblestone streets, so block heels and platform sandals are necessary.

Did you notice I mostly wore one bag with everything? This rattan bag is so spacious, I chose it over the others I brought because I could fit some makeup, my wallet and even my camera. I can also fit a water bottle, snacks, my phone and other things when Im out with the kids. I havent given it a break this whole season.

In every warm-weather/beach vacation, I bring a gorgeous floral or printed dress with a sexy detail like a cutout, slit or neckline. I go for prints with the most colors in my color palette, which always helps it stay in rotation and go easily with my closet year after year.

How much is the average wedding in Colombia?

Planning the most important day of your life should not be stressful; you just need to be very organized. But the first thing the couple needs to agree on is the location. Destination weddings are now very popular, and they can be cheaper than you think. A wedding in Colombia could cost an average of $3,300 (The Knot, 2019), but it will all depend on how big or intimate you want your event to be.

All you need to know about planning a wedding in Colombia. According to the 2019 Global Wedding Report, to plan a wedding in Colombia takes an average of 8 months, one of the shortest timelines in the world. This South American country also ranks at the top of the list (79%) when incorporating religion into the ceremony. But the choices are endless and as unique as you want.

Multiple destinations around the country. Cartagena is the number one wedding location in the country. The colorful 16th-century buildings, the Caribbean weather, and the romantic ambiance make it the first choice for many locals and foreigners. Santa Marta, La Guajira, Providencia, and many other Colombian islands are also great beach spots to get married at.

Can I wear black to a Spanish wedding?

Wedding planners recommend avoiding anything that is excessively low cut, too short, or too tight. While black gowns and dresses are appropriate for most traditional weddings, if youve been invited to a noontime wedding or a relaxed, seaside celebration, you might want to choose a different colour. Their advice is to avoid wearing black if youre attending a destination wedding with a tropical theme.

Consider the time of day. Black-tie attire is ideal for receptions beginning at 6:00 p.m. or later, with suits or morning suits advised for the afternoon hours, according to traditional etiquette. Though not every wedding adheres to these guidelines, the ladies can still follow suit (pun intended) by selecting lighter, brighter hues for daytime festivities and darker, more formal tones for the evening.

Whats the finest rule of thumb to follow? Keep a close eye on the clothing code specified on the wedding invitation. Even if there isnt a dress code specified, the wording and style of the invitation can imply what is and isnt appropriate. The wedding invitation serves as a good indicator of the events style. If you receive an invitation with a formal font and the venue is a more formal place, such as a magnificent hotel ballroom, its a good sign that the wedding will be black tie and that a formal gown would be suitable and expected.

  • Okay this article has literally convinced me that doing a destination wedding is the way to go. I always was apprehensive because of the cost but in all honesty it makes more sense. I only want super close friends and family coming and I want to feel my true main character moment. Also it’s true that all the vendors are probably so much cheaper in other countries too. I also love how natural and true to you that you’re wanting to be, it’s so refreshing from seeing all of these other YouTubers going ham for no reason for their weddings. I’ve always wanted to do my own makeup too 😂😂Your wedding is going to be absolutely stunning and something out of a movie. Colombia looks magical and now I wanna go 😂

  • as a girl who just had her wedding in brazil with all the fam i can say: ENJOY IT BECAUSE IT WAS A BLAST!!!! i also had 50 people and gurllllll it was the best decision i made!! ENJOY IT about the table: I had 3 long (farm) tables and honestly being that small nobody cared about sitting at the end of it, they actually preferred cause it’s easier to move around! also, i didn’t assign seats because it was so small too, and i wanted people to sit wherever they want!

  • I love that your just doing you and not being swayed by everyone else’s opinions. My only regret from my wedding was my makeup. I just decided to go with a makeup artist and I had never felt so uncomfortable in my own skin… and looking back on the photos just brings me back to those memories of not feeling my best. Love that your doing what makes you most confident! Best of luck to you girl ❤

  • Omg im so excited to see the final look of it all. Everything seems to be coming together so beautifully. I really love how you both are actually incorporating your backgrounds into the wedding. i’m not even attending the wedding and i’m so excited just to see you guys with your friends and families enjoy this beautiful moment 🫶🏻🫶🏻 Love you both so much❤️‍🩹 PSA: Lauren you killed it with this article. The editing, the music, the vibe. Just everything. It did not feel like an hour long article at all !!!

  • It’s so cute to see you guys planning your wedding! I can’t believe it’s only 3 months away! I feel like you just got engaged last week! 😅 Love the intimacy of your wedding. Love the vibe. It’s gonna be so much fun! Can’t wait to see more! 🥰 Also, I love the crimped hair, it definitely matches the vibe of your wedding and the bigger it gets, the better! 😉

  • My favorite article you’ve ever done along with the engagement article❤😭 I really want to thank you for taking us along on these special moments, im a huge fan of yours and I truly love and care for both you and Henny I admire your relationship and how loving and real you both are, I could not be happier for you both and I’m so excited about your big day coming up ❤️ Que Dios los cuide y bendiga siempre🙏🏻💕

  • Omg I loved this article so much. Also I love your hair choice like I swear every bride regrets there hair because they try something different and have a cringy hairstyle but I love that your sticking to what you feel the most confident! I’m so excited for you and Henny!! I hope you guys have the best wedding day ever❤️❤️❤️🫶🏼

  • catching up on your vlogs since it’s been a while….. i am so beyond happy and proud of who you’ve grown into. from vine and princess lauren, to taking over TT w/ 12 3 30, to being a mom and BRIDE?! lauren i am literally buzzing w/ excitement for you on this new journey, you are truly glowing and we love to see it 🤩💗 we love the destination wedding moment as well <3333

  • Let me tell you that I had a very similar mindset with my wedding. Celebrating our love with the people who mean the most to us. And it was perfect. And since we planned most of it ourselves, if anything “didn’t go” according to plan – WHI CARES!? We planned it, no ones if something was off. This is the most exciting time of your life. Because it’s all just starting. You will have the most amazing day! Can’t wait to see you slay the wardrobe and all the delicious foods you choose ♥️

  • I literally am so grateful for this article I’ve been debating if I wanna plan a destination wedding like this. NOW I DEFINITELY WANT TO! I have family in Mexico & Canada & Italy and it’s so much easier to have it there than to have everyone come to the US. Plus I want it to be with people that I love not people that I barely speak to or that my boyfriend (soon to be fiancee) hasn’t met. I LOVE this article! Cannot wait for more content like this! Congratulations! ❤️

  • Yes girl honestly about doing your own wedding makeup. There are so many options out there, but I did my wedding on a super budget (paid 80$ for my wedding dress, courthouse wedding, $500 dinner for only my spouse and I budget), and I had my best friend come over before, she helped with my hair, I did my own makeup, and it was perfect for me. Get it girl. Just remember to give yourself the most time so you don’t feel stressed about getting prepped in a short period and you can take your time and chill with your people you love while you do it

  • I LOVE LAUREN :face-purple-crying::face-purple-crying: she heals my inner child. She is exactly who I would love to hangout with. I love dressing up, self confidence, take everyday like a queen but also so down to earth, not fake and free like a child. Henny is lucky and obviously Henny is a diamond. This just makes my day. I might just cry perusalyou wedding articles if there would be any!
