After the show me & my bud was checking out their tour bus and they invited us in for some weed and beers !! I sure love this beat. They had such a great entrance into this song. I think the greatest thing about the 80’s is that so many of us felt connected through our rock music. We could all be part of the huge movement that was sweeping through our country and beyond. I never hesitate to relive any part of the rock scene from that time-line!!!!
Several years ago I worked as a cashier in a local grocery store in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. I got the pleasure of waiting on the lead singer. Honeymoon Suite, which is a Canadian band, was performing locally that evening. He was very humble, polite and sweet. Gave me a beautiful smile when I conversed with him briefly. Dressed like a typical Rockstar. Still very handsome after all these years!!!
Being a teen in the 80s was the best of times. I’d go back in a second! Thank God for u tube we can still jam on all the forgotten 80s tunes. To bad there aren’t any 70s and 80s only radio stations these days like our parents had the oldies stations back in the day. The 70s/80s was truly a special era. No cell phones, no internet, email, or social media, you had to actually go out and have a social life with your friends and have a great time hanging out where ever the action was. 80s girls were so much better looking than the girls today……the big hair, the good smelling hair products they used, the clothes, young love was so good back then. What happened, the 21st century just sucks…..maybe I’m just getting old Haha.
Honeymoon Suite’s keyboardist Ray Coburn has been a member of Kim Mitchell’s touring band for sometime. We saw Kim perform in Calgary recently, and Ray blew the crowd away with his keyboard prowess. Very talented player. These virtuosic skills were something rarely exhibited if ever by Ray while with Honeymoon Suite.

I play this currently in a cover band..I had not heard this until a year ago, so it feels strangely fresh…I have been playing for 38 years as a guitarist, and have covered all genres including an originals band SKYFISH still on iTunes and Amazon….I was there in the ’80’s..we made fun of it then, but now I am sentimental about the big hair days…or maybe I’m just mental 🙂
Wow one of the first CD’s I bought was the Big Prize. These guys opened up for Blue Oyster Cult at Radio City Music Hall as the first bill before Zebra. Great act although limited stage space and reduced PA volume. The guitarist did a North America Pepsi commercial spot around that time too, I think.
I’m 67 here in early ’22. Just felt like hearing some of the badass rock that was a part of my past. You younger peeps….just know that just because you’re up there a bit in years……the yearn for hard drivin’ rock doesn’t leave your soul. No….I’m not walking into smoky bars and rock clubs…..slamming down shots of Crown and doing blasts of blow till all hours….THANK GOD. In 1986 I went on a roadtrip from Vancouver Canada to California with my dad. For the summer. Drove in a 1973 Vega Kammback, saw Johnny Carson in a taped show, camped in the American river at an old gold mining site. Talked to guy who showed me his handgun collection. He even let me shoot one. Went to San Francisco. I could go on….and on….the music on the radio was there. This music. Get how good that roadtrip was now ?
