Why does Kate Middleton not wear a wedding band?

It is also likely that Kate needed to remove her jewelry when she underwent an abdominal procedure in January. Many doctors require patients to take off any personal items before a surgery. There also could have been swelling during her recovery, meaning that the ring would not be the right size on her finger for the time being.

Kensington Palace confirmed in January that Kate had undergone a planned medical procedure at the London Clinic.

“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” a statement shared via social media at the time. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

The last few years have seen a lot of enormous changes in the British Royal Family, an entity known more for tradition than rapid growth. After the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, who ruled over the U.K. most of the 21st century, some people may be looking for some stability. If theres any couple in the family who offers that, its Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Why is Diana called princess but not Kate?

Why isnt Kate called Princess?. Even though Kates mother-in-law was legendary ‘Princess Diana, she is not a princess just because she married Prince William. To become a Princess, one has to be born into the Royal Family such as Prince William and Kates daughter, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. Kate became ‘Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge when she married the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II. The UK monarch gave Prince William the title of the “Duke of Cambridge” ahead of the wedding. Therefore, Kate naturally got the feminine version. But, it still did not make her a ‘Princess as she was not born into the Royal Family.

  • Watching this again in March 2024… Wow, I watched live at the time back in 2011 . Seeing it now, my goodness how much better were the BBC coverage and commentary to start with.. They just did their job and didn’t try to shove their opinion down our throats, like they have done for the last few years. It shows proof too that social media hadn’t sent people quite unhinged either, what a refreshing time it was in 2011. No digital media, decent commentators and the world was a much better place than it is today.. What wonderful memories, I do Hope, The Prince and Princess of wales lift their spirits through these difficult times for themselves, by re-watching their wedding.

  • I watched this ceremony 12 years ago and I was brought to tears. As I watch again 12 years later 2023 I was still brought to tears. Such a wonderful couple. The smile on the late HM the Queen was so beautiful. The whole ceremony was genuine. You could feel the love in the Abby. You could also see how proud of William her late HM The Queen was with his choice of bride. Catherine is a perfect match for William. Happy Anniversary to the Prince and Princess of Wales. Many blessings for continued success. 👵💜

  • Remember perusal this wedding live almost 10 years ago, were so happy for them. Lovely Catherine finally became Prince William’s wife. I always thought they were born to each other, couldn’t wait to see them get married. A decade later, still love perusal this wedding, they are still so happy with 3 beautiful children, do their duties humble and quietly. The most sympathetic people from the royal family.

  • I’ve watched the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles’s wedding back in 1981 and every wedding since. Almost 13 years since this magical moment and, even though I’m from the United States, this made me feel pride. I know his mother was perusal down and smiling her approval. May they have as long a marriage as the late Queen and her husband Prince Phillip.

  • I got up up at 4:00 am to watch on TV here in the USA. I saw Diana’s wedding when I was 10 years old as well. This was spectacular and I have watched it a few times! The Fanfare by the trumpets at the start of Crown Imperial is so awesome it makes me tear up. Beautiful wedding and so glad it was filmed! 🎉

  • Such a joyous and celebratory mood. A wedding that can bring the country together in such unity and synergy. A powerful and inclusive event that holds all in one to embrace a common feeling of greatness and togetherness. Beautiful couple who brings people from the world to a day of tremendous exhilaration and jubilation!!! Yes Kate is a treasure to UK. The British are so proud of her.

  • Mixed emotions in Harry’s face when he’s stood at the altar, interesting. Makes me sad that he has chosen to walk away from all of this. These occasions really make me proud to be British. Seems its only on these occasions when the UK come together. Its fantastic to see. The Prince and Princess Of Wales are a match made in heaven. Long Live The King. To our dear, beloved, late Queen Elizabeth II….we miss you and all you stood for, and represented, but you’ll be pleased to know King Charles III and the Queen Consort Camilla would be making you very proud. RIP Your Majesty. Harry not so much making anyone proud of him. Really sad he couldn’t find his own Catherine. A woman who truly loved him and supported him in his role as a Prince. He didn’t get anywhere near that, and its heartbreaking.

  • I have tried to find one article that shows my favorite part of weddings like this. Every articleaugrapher is croud surfing and we miss the rise of the vail. I always love that part. Beautiful wedding as it should have been. But I missed that special moment that the Prince can look into her eyes for the first time as his bride.

  • Very, very beautiful, glorious wedding, in keeping with tradition and solemnity of a holy matrimony. Gorgeous, stunning wedding gown, so befitting of a fabulous, graceful lady as Kate so full of poise and regality. So happy for the remarkably magnificent couple. Can feel the bliss and genuine love between William and Kate. Kate is so naturally sweet. Everything about them that day was stupendous and joyous. God looks upon them with love and care. Even Pippa was so poised. Both Middleton sisters have been so well brought up. Good parenting from the Middletons who clearly have nurtured the two sisters superbly – their unity, strong bond and excellent support for each other is so visible.

  • I watched the wedding back in 2011 and thought that Catherine looked so beautiful in her Alexander McQueen wedding dress. Prince William looked so handsome in his army uniform, it was really nice to watch it all over again in 2023. May they always share the great love that shone from both of them 29 April, 2011.

  • Love everything of this wonderful Ceremony♥️♥️. Prince William and Princess Catherine are fantastic together ♥️♥️. She’ s a gorgeous woman inside and out, he’s such a handsome and sweet Prince♥️♥️. Love them. Wish to them and to the UK all the best♥️🇬🇧. Lots of hugs from an Italian girl🇮🇹who loves a lot Great Britain🇬🇧🇮🇹.

  • Kate and William really are too good to be true! They are the perfect couple – deeply in love, both wonderful people, personable and friendly. Kate has fallen into her role with ease and Grace. They never seem to put a foot wrong, they have produced three wonderful children, they join in with everything and show how human they are, despite their position! We are a very lucky country to have them as our future monarchs!

  • So much better than 2018. 2018 was more showbusiness, too many celeb guests, James Corden, James Blunt, Serena Williams…..back in 2011 crowds could still enjoy a moment, in 2018 the crowd is just one mass of smartphones. 2011 wedding was more traditional, 2018 was trying too hard to be trendy and modern with the preacher and some of the music.

  • Hoje, dia 29 de abril de 2021, está completando nada menos que 10 anos desse lindo casamento digno de contos de fadas, entre William e Kate. E desse lindo casamento nasceu três filhos lindos, George, Charlotte e Louis. Feliz aniversário de casamento William e Kate. Feliz 10 anos de casamento William e Kate. God save William and Kate.

  • Amanhã, vai completar exatamente 8 anos, deste lindo evento. William e Kate, vivem muito felizes, com uma bela família, pois eles são pais de três filhos lindos e maravilhosos, George, Charlotte e Louis. E existe uma grande possibilidade deles encomendarem um quarto herdeiro. God save William e Kate.

  • One of my favourite things about our Monarchy are The Kings LIfeguards, they give me goosebumps. They look absolutely awesome in all their finery. Really does hit home the history of the Monarchy, and all it stands for. So proud. Sigh. The Coronation is next, and I for one am so excited for it, and wish I could be there in person with my fellow countrymen and women. I’ll be cheering from West Australia and waving the flags of my countries. Long Live The King❣

  • I do not think a royal wedding will come over the years, like the wedding of William and Catherine. The most beautiful royal wedding I have ever seen, as if it were a fairy tale. The beautiful girl from the common people is married by the handsome prince. When they rode in the carriage and the bells sounded, I remembered the marriage of Cinderella and the prince.

  • True history of a 1000 years – our icons and future King and Queen- symbolism is created by all nations and I love mine – God bless her in her current troubles which will only build her empathy for our nation and its future ills – our future Queen – in the mean time Charles you are doing a sterling job

  • Aside from the beautiful bride, Catherine, I really enjoyed the choir. I love the dress, but I can’t help but think how much grander it would’ve looked if it had been at least 2-3 metres longer… I see this shorter train as the reflection of Catherine’s personality: she’s a drama-free person, shy, introvert, who is more interested in doing her work as a royal properly than looking grand. Diana’s dress train was massively long, and so was the drama that came along. So perhaps, it’s for the best, that Catherine’s different.

  • How scary it must be for the fathers of some of the ladies who have married into the royal family. While the royals might be more used to it, they have to carry that whole last ride, the loooooong walk down the isle in front of The Queen and that roaring crowd. Catherine and her father were so sweet and did a great job

  • It is hard to say How Diana would have felt, but she would have been proud of her Willy, and the woman he chose. He would have told his mother, mommy, am going to wait till I am older to chose a wife for myself. I do not want the repeat of what you and papa went through. She has to be the girl for life for me. Bad things happen in marriage, but I want mine to work, even if I have to humble myself and so will she. It not about just a happy marriage, it’s a life time commitment. Some make it some do not. But I am going to try. So here it is 2019, and he William is still married to his Kate. Let us hope this sticks if there is room for him to be Prince of Wales, or just a happy married man with children.

  • So, I’ve been perusal both weddings back to back, here on youtube, and in doing so, I noticed a few glaring differences, that… well, they disprove and deny many accusations made in the media by a certain couple. I also noticed that in the 2018 wedding, only one of them was taking things seriously, and the other was smiling the whole time like the cat that got the cream. I mean, even during the solemn times, there was a large Joker like smile displayed.

  • I feel like I’m the only one who LOVED both Will & Kate’s wedding and Harry & Meghan’s wedding. Both were so beautiful and enjoyable to watch. I wish both couples all the best with their growing families. I’m sure Diana is happy knowing that her sons were able to find happiness with women they truly love. Bless them all❤️

  • BBC gets no kudos for sound control. Too many instances of interviews with no sound and attempts to describe goings on while crowds were screaming were difficult if not impossible to make out. It was as though spokespeople had no idea what they were doing or cared not they were not heard or understood.

  • I was lucky enough to get to watch this in school not the whole thing but a good bit of it and oh my God I loved it. I loved everything about it the music, the fashion, the ceremony everything about it was wonderful and Catherine and William are such a beautiful, beautiful couple, and then compare that to Harry and Megan‘s wedding, which, in my personal opinion, was nothing more than a spectacle, I’m sorry I prefer William and Catherine over Megan and Harry you can get mad at me that’s fine but I’m not changing my opinion.

  • Time spent on the crowds was overdone. How about some expert commentary on the wedding itself? So many crowd interviews were unnecessary because the views of the obviously enthusiastic crowds proved the point and so many interviews were redundant. Poor planning and overuse a few BBC people when more experts would have been more meaningful. ABC did a much better job of providing insights and depth to their coverage. I had the impression that BBC doesn’t realize we’re no longer in the radio era and are now in the TV era and reporting on what is obvious to the viewer is pointless.

  • Oh my dearest wish would be there in front of all those beautiful people paying Thier respect and love to our royal family I’d love to have been chosen to be hung strung and quartered put on a wooden rack so my limbs be stretched untill they were torn apart screaming god save the king then to burnt at the stake dunked on a wooden chair in a well all these wonderful acts of homage to his highly esteemed magnificence his divine majesty lord of the universe the king finally to be decapitated by facing his anger and wrath for having breathed the same air as the blessed one I love from the fullness of my heart 💜❤️😍 and being our king

  • In the US some networks had to send their top news anchors back due to a major news story that had occurred two days before. On April 27 the 2011 Super Outbreak which was a series of devastating tornadoes across the southeast had occurred and over 300 people were killed. At the time of the wedding not all victims had been accounted for and networks felt they needed to cover that story as well.

  • What a picture this is for those of us who have asked Jesus Christ to forgive them of their sins and to come into their hearts and save them! One day, soon, Jesus Christ is going to call His church out of this world (the rapture) and we will be married to Jesus Christ. While this is indeed a Beautiful wedding, it doesn’t even hold a candle to to the Beauty and Grandeur of that on in Heaven. Can’t wait – Even so, come, Lord Jesus!!

  • Prince William is his own person!!!! And people are interested in him and his wife… Because they are amazing people!!! Cannot get away from Diana??? What a load of …. Too say… I am absolutely sure that, prince William and Catherine weren’t thinking about Diana… Some of you are the reason why, prince William isn’t allowed to enjoy himself, without you reminding him of His dead mother… Diana is brought up again and again.. you are the one that would let it go;!!!! Of course prince William’s family will be The!!!

  • this was a real royal wedding iconic traditional and classy. Meghan and Harry wedding was not royal at all her family wasn’t there the American bishop was talking like he isn’t in a wedding ceremony the queen was upset because of him. and after the wedding she started making more mistakes like when she wears off the shoulder in Trouping the color even she was know that it’s desrsepectful to the queen in the formal events

  • ALL I KNOW IS, THE PICTURE OF ME, TO THE LEFT IS HOW I LOOKED, WHEN I COULD HAVE MARRIED A PRINCE BACK IN THE DAY. IF I HAD BEEN ABLE TO MARRY INTO THE ROYAL FAMILY, I WOULD NOT HAVE LEFT. YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN HONOR, DUTY, AND FAMILY FOR REAL. I GUESS MY PREACHER KID UP BRINGING, MADE THAT IMPORTANT IN OUR LIVES. BUT BECAUSE I AM DARKER THAN MEGHAN, THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE APPROVED.

  • What I dont get William is allowed to get married but harry gets married and it turns in to world war 4 what is so wrong about harry getting married and being happy i just wish that Kate took meghan to one side and offered to show her what she learnt when she married William then maybe non of this awful fued would of happend
