How much older was Camilla than Diana?
Camilla was some 14 years older than Diana, so its unsurprising that the 19 year old looked to her for advice. In fact Camilla was a closer contemporary of Dianas older sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, who Charles also briefly dated. Taking on something of an older sisterly role herself, Junor states that Camilla was a support to Diana when both women watched Prince Charles compete at the Ludlow Races that year – a day that marked Charles and Dianas public debut as a couple. Unused to the cameras, Camilla was no doubt a reassuring presence, with two women photographed chatting amicably as she stayed by Dianas side.
Camilla maintained the friendship as Charles and Dianas relationship became more serious. In Andrew Mortons 1992 book Diana: Her True Story, Morton relates that soon after the couple announced their engagement in February 1981 and Diana moved into Clarence House, she found a note from Camilla on her bed inviting her to lunch. The women are said to have enjoyed a lively meeting, spent gossiping together and catching up. When Diana looked back on it retrospectively, however, she told Morton she later suspected Camilla was trying to find out when she might be able to see Charles alone.
It was around this time that the friendship between the two women began to sour. Morton recounts that Diana began to harbour suspicions about Charles and Camilla as early as during her engagement. The bride-to-be was upset when she found out that Charles had gifted Camilla a bracelet, shortly before the Royal Wedding was due to take place in July. It was engraved with the initials G and F, which Diana was sure was a reference to the pet names Charles and Camilla are said to have given each other, ‘Gladys and Fred, after two characters from The Goon Show. Others speculated that it stood for ‘Girl Friday – no less a troubling allusion, considering that the 1940 film His Girl Friday is about a man trying to lure his newly-engaged ex-wife away from her new lover. Junor also writes of Dianas concerns, alleging that the just-married Princess was upset when she found a photo of Camilla in Charless diary while the couple were honeymooning on the Royal Yacht Britannia.

📹 Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer | Royal Special
On 29 July 1981, an estimated 750 million people tuned in worldwide to witness the wedding of Prince Charles, Prince of Wales to …
Unfortunately i had to miss perusal the Royal Wedding live because it was my first day of summer school (i was transitioning from a private school for kids with learing disabilites to a public high school) and had to watch the replay of the wedding later that evening. But it was something that this then 14 year old girl will never forget!
Fantastic! All the weirdos who weren’t even alive when she was will all congregate to this article like flies on💩and they will proclaim how lovely their kiss was on the balcony and how she was an angel on Earth because unlike the rest of us they can’t say that they got up at such and such time to watch not only this but her funeral. They never had to witness the bad parts of Diana and what she did to other people.
I remember getting up early to watch this too. However, I couldn’t watch the whole thing as I had to go to work. (I was 25.) My husband and I had bought a Betamax article recorder a few months earlier, so I recorded it for later. I’d had my doubts about the marriage from the time the engagement was announced, but I wasn’t about to miss the biggest display of royal pageantry since the coronation in 1953.

They divorced in 1996 not 92. The marriage was over after Harry’s birth in 1985. Poor girl had nobody to warn her about marrying a man without honor that feels entitled to do whatever he wants. She waited for a long time to reveal the truth hoping against hope that the Queen and Prince Philip would support her as being the wife and mother of the future king. She had to grow up fast to understand what was going on not only in her own marriage but Anne’s, Fergie’s and Camilla’s strange relationships.
This is terribly inappropriate and you’re doing it for the clicks. Even worse people think this is the actual royal family website creating this slop when it’s not. I sincerely hope they make you change your website name so it’s abundantly clear to everyone you have zero association with the actual British royal family.
