Hurricane Ian made landfall in Cayo Costa, Florida, last week, causing concern for honeymooners planning their trips during peak hurricane season. The ABC Islands, including Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao, are considered the safest bet for honeymoons in the fall. Grenada, known as the “Island of Spice,” is one of the least visited Caribbean islands and is located in the most southerly part of the region.
Curacao is a Dutch town with small beach coves, excellent snorkeling, and great food at local restaurants. The smaller islands in the Bahamas are amazing, with low nightlife and cute towns. For budget-conscious couples, it may be worth considering vacations after their wedding.
Tropica, one of the two islands in Trinidad and Tobago, is safe from the path of most hurricanes due to its location off the coast of Venezuela. It is famous for the steel drums that originated there, now heard across the Caribbean.
Hairstacking on a tropical island can be dangerous, especially when a family member gets kidnapped upon arrival. Honeymoon Island State Park in Florida offers an escape from city life with over four miles of beach and a three-mile trail through one of the last remaining virgin slash pine forests.
Travel insurance is crucial during hurricane season, especially for destination weddings. Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, and Barbados are out of the Caribbean’s hurricane zone, but they are not the only islands that can be visited without risk.

Just so glad that you did a lot of different things and enjoyed one another. Love you, beautiful people💖 💏 💙 💕😎
So so proud of you trying to overcome your fear swimming in the ocean, it’s a whole notha WORLD UNDER THERE! My aunt was stung by a jellyfish in Florida once and she said it was the worst pain from any sting or bite EVER IN HER LIFE! If you see my comment can you tell me if Sandals was all inclusive with food and drinks(I don’t drink either) but I was just curious. Thats scary that they may have snuck you some non vegan food and messed up your tummy on your honeymoon..ughhhh! I am glad you took so much footage though! I’m perusal Travis’ vlogs too! XOXOXO
I live in Australia and we had a massive hurricane category 5 come through the city I live in a few months ago. It completely destroyed everything, there was no water, no power and no food for people. It blew roofs off, buildings down and flooded the whole town. There are still homes and businesses that are ruined 🙁 but everyone survived thank goodness! Hope you and Travis had a good honeymoon 🙂 don’t let the hurricane ruin it! xo
Hurricanes can be exciting in a good and bad way. I have been though so many from Charlie to Rita and Katrina. They are scary and because I have survived so many I kind of like them in a sick twisted way. I would take a hurricane over a tornado or an Earth Quake any day of the week. I am one of those people who would throw a Hurricane party.
I’m from the Dominican Republic, Hurricane season is late August through early November. it’s great to visit during the summer just need to be informed. For my country avoid February it’s carnival season. December 15 through new year is a tough time also. Last time I went I had to book 6 months in advance. Google is awesome.
